• Support BGET’s understanding of money and advice sector across England, Scotland and Wales, including sharing policy knowledge and sector developments within the 3 nations.
• Contribute to new initiatives with British Gas and grant giving programmes.

· Support the effective management of the Trust’s grant programmes across England, Scotland and Wales, including:

• Build & manage positive relationships with the grant assessment team and British Gas internal teams. 

• Providing appropriate support to ensure the direct grant programme runs efficiently and effectively, with grant funding distributed to budget and schedule.

• Undertaking both face to face and virtual monitoring visits of the helpline and application portal and assessment teams – including ongoing KPI and impact evaluation process, creating comprehensive follow-up reports including end of grant reports.

Reporting & Contract Management:

• Ensure all data collection aligned to current Data Protection regulations and use and storage of data is in line with the Trust’s own policies and provide reassurance to the Head of Services.

• Ensure accurate data is in place for year-end reporting, quarterly and including assisting Head of Services with quarterly and End of Year Board reporting.

 Reporting & Contract Management: 

• Identify risks to delivery and work with the grant administrator to help resolve any challenges with delivery that impact on the grant obligations.

• To work with internal and external monitoring and evaluation specialists, to gain impact and understanding of the effect of our funding schemes.

Knowledge Sharing

• Identify and develop opportunities to work collaboratively and share learning.

• Ensure case studies and other content is collated from grant recipients to share through our channels.

Role Purpose

Main Responsibilities

Leadership

• To lead and inspire the Philanthropy team fostering a collaborative and high culture that delivers against income and objectives.

Philanthropy Fundraising

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with high-value donors, ensuring effective solicitation, stewardship, and follow-up to secure significant contributions (six-figure gifts).
• Build and maintain a portfolio of Trust & Grants supporters. Responsible for researching, approaching and developing compelling applications with a focus on ensuring Trusts & Grants provide a long-term, diverse and sustainable income stream.
• Lead the development and stewardship of the Philanthropy board to identify and secure transformational (6-7 figure) gifts and the development of the Business development Board to open opportunities with Corporate Partners.
• Write and design a compelling case for support that is tailored to our High Value audiences.
• Lead on planning and delivering successful high value cultivation events.
• Represent Winston’s Wish at fundraising events and meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

Strategy, Planning and reporting

•  You will work alongside the Director of Income Generation to support the development and implementation of a new Philanthropy strategy covering development of a prospect pipeline, building a culture of peer referrals, annual targets and personalised engagement plans.
• Lead on developing and delivering effective stewardship journeys and cultivation plans.
• Produce regular reports on fundraising activity, analysing performance against targets, and identifying areas for improvement and growth.
• Work with the Director of Income Generation to develop the annual budget, including leading on monthly performance reports and contributing to quarterly reforecasts and reporting against KPI’s and milestones.
• Undertake research and make use of tools to identify potential High Value partners.

Collaboration

• Work closely with the Director of Income Generation, SLT and other teams to maximise high value fundraising opportunities.
• Where appropriate, you will involve Winston’s Wish senior staff and the Board of Trustees to make the most of opportunities to engage and build relationships with existing and potential supporters.

The Role:

About Slough Foodbank

Slough Foodbank is a charity whose object is the prevention or relief of poverty in the United Kingdom, mainly in Slough and the surrounding area, in particular but not exclusively by providing emergency food supplies to individuals in need, as motivated by the principles of the Christian Faith.

Slough Foodbank believes that no one in the community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ worth of nutritionally balanced, emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. In 2024, we gave out 12,147 food parcels.  Sadly, this is almost double the number in given out in 2020.  In addition to providing food and basic toiletries, we try to understand the situation of the people referred to us so that we can signpost them to other organisations where appropriate, in order to give a helping hand through a crisis.

Job purpose

We’re seeking someone who is called to lead through great teamwork, enabling us to continue serving our clients well, and fostering an environment of ‘can do’ and care.  Our reach is culturally diverse and you’ll work with people who have varied experiences. You will have an eye for detail and be keen to see improvement across all areas of our work whilst recognising and embracing that the Foodbank is coordinated by a small team of employees and key volunteers who are supported by more than 100 volunteers.  Are you the person we're looking for?

Main duties & Responsibilities

The manager has overall responsibility for the operation of the foodbank, ensuring that we are able to meet the needs of clients facing food poverty crisis. The role is wide-ranging and varied and responsibilities include:

· Primary contact for our parent organisation, Trussell

· Accountable to the Trustees, who have ultimate accountability for the Foodbank

· Volunteer and employee management

· Ensuring there are sufficient donations of food, toiletries, etc, and also financial donations

· Meeting clients’ needs through managing distribution of food parcels including oversight of the warehouse, distribution centres & signposting

· Recruiting and developing volunteers (and any approved employees)

· Building key external relationships with key referral agencies, local forums and networks

· PR & Communications – representing the foodbank externally, raising the profile of food poverty and lobbying for those in need

· Quality assurance & compliance

· Strategic leadership and process improvement

Salary: Starting at £47,264, rising to £54,728 FTE per annum + £480 home-based allowance FTE per annum

Location: Homebased with weekly national travel

• Proven track record in income growth, financial planning, and managing budgets.
