Job description

The Financial Controller helps people with sight loss to live the life they choose by maintaining strong financial governance both in relation to day-to-day running of the Charity and strategic planning, ensuring effective use of the donor pound and long-term sustainability of the organisation.

This role is 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week, with 26 days paid holiday (excluding bank holidays) a year.

Candidate requirements

To be able to fulfil this role, the skills and experience we are looking for in a potential candidate include;

Essential

  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified finance professional, to be able to confidently deal with complex financial and technical disclosure standards.
  • Significant range of post-qualification experience.
  • Change management skillset.
  • Coaching and developing staff.
  • Preparation of statutory, consolidated accounts.
  • Working with external bodies such as HRMC, External and Internal Auditors.
  • Significant experience working with a variety of financial systems.
  • Experience of working within a Risk Based Control Environment.
  • Strategic overview.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial and organisational/business context.
  • Working knowledge of a wide range of Tax issues, including Gift Aid, VAT, and Corporation Tax.
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes and controls.
