Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) is seeking to appoint a Head of Finance who will be responsible for all finance functions across the BGCI Group, including financial and management reporting, company secretarial, tax, financial risk and controls, project reporting, audit liaison, banking and compliance, as well as the management of a small Finance team located in the UK and Kenya.

Person Specification

BGCI is seeking to appoint a person interested in a job-share but with the potential to go to full-time if desired. Candidates for this post will have a proven track record working for a conservation or scientific organisation, preferably in plant conservation. The post holder will demonstrate sensitivity to complex, multicultural and multinational institutions and structures.

The role

Operating within the Finance and Performance Directorate, as Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, you will lead the Finance Business Partner and Senior Management Accounts team. You will develop the financial planning and analysis capabilities of the team that will better support financial decision making across the organisation and effective risk management.  You will lead on The National Archives' financial planning through Spending Reviews and Fiscal Events; ensuring these are reflected and managed internally through budgets, efficiencies and multi-year business planning.

Other responsibilities include:

• Leading the Finance Business Partner and Senior Management Accounts team, providing clear direction, coaching, and support to ensure high-quality professional finance support and advice is provided to the organisation and development of team members.
• Deputising for the Finance Director as required and help lead the Finance and Performance team through periods of change.

This is a full time, contract role for 6 months however the charity is also open to this being a permanent role. To start by April 2026, the role is based from their London office and remotely.

For a charity in London, we're recruiting an interim Head of FP&A for a 6-month contract. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Head of FP&A will manage a small team and will have leadership of the internal reporting processes, providing strategic advice to the SMT, and lead a continuous improvement programme. The Head of FP&A will design, implement, and stabilise finance processes across planning and forecasting, performance reporting, KPI management, capital and cash management, cost analysis, and process improvement.
