This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, which you can choose to work over five days or a 9 day fortnight.

Role Overview:
The Head of Marketing & Sales plays a pivotal role in driving the organisation’s growth. We are looking for an exceptional philanthropic fundraising leader, with experience of leading an appeal and first-hand programme management skills, to undertake a one year maternity cover as the Interim Head of Child Opportunity Appeal. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a disease of the brain and spinal cord which affects different people in different ways. There are currently 2.9 million people in the world living with MS and currently there is no cure. But, Overcoming MS provides hope through lifestyle changes which are backed by scientific research and which enables sufferers to lead a full and healthy life with MS.
Reporting to the CEO and managing a small team of two, we are looking for support to create long-term and sustainable income streams that allow us to plan for strategic growth. This is likely to involve building a pipeline of corporate partners, major donors, and legacy pledgers to grow income over the medium to longer term as well as managing and developing relationships with prospective high value donors.
The appointed candidate is likely to bring demonstrable experience of developing and implementing fundraising strategies, regularly reviewing them and monitoring against KPIs. You are likely to be a strategic and creative thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit in order to be able to identify and harness new opportunities and trends to drive income growth. About Pancreatic Cancer Action:
Pancreatic Cancer Action (PCA) was founded in 2010 by a rare survivor of the disease. We are a small, creative and passionate team committed to improving early diagnosis and saving lives. In August 2020, Pancreatic Cancer Action merged with Pancreatic Cancer Scotland making our team stronger than ever.
Pancreatic cancer has only a 7% survival rate and this figure has not improved significantly for over 50 years. Despite it being the 5th biggest cancer killer in the UK, pancreatic cancer receives only 3% of overall research funding.
With a strong focus on early diagnosis, it is Pancreatic Cancer Action’s aim to improve survival rates through raising awareness, medical education, improved patient information and by funding research specifically into the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Simply put, we want more people diagnosed in time for surgery, currently the only potential for a cure.
Main responsibilities:
- Develop and grow the annual programme of fundraising events such as the London Marathon and Great North Run.
- Grow and steward a pipeline of new and existing community and events audiences and fundraising opportunities with a particular focus on England. Ensuring to always maintain the highest quality supporter journey.

- Seek out engagement opportunities to support donor acquisition and retention utilising new and existing channels and platforms.

Income and targets
- Help to grow Pancreatic Cancer Action’s income from community and challenge event fundraisers.

The role
This exciting role within NLOS’s senior management team was created to help bring greater strategic alignment across NLOS and its charities and to better capitalise on new and existing opportunities. The post is critical to ensuring that we maximise the resources available to us through increased income generation and by forging strategic partnerships across multiple sectors and fields that allow us to increase and leverage support for each charity and provide a world class customer experience, while protecting and preserving green spaces of international significance. All activities will be undertaken with a priority to conserve the natural spaces we oversee, and to ensure that income generated at each site is reinvested back into the charity/site where it was raised.
As a member of NLOS’s senior management team, the postholder will be responsible for overseeing a diverse and complementary portfolio, including income generation, strategic partnerships, marketing and communications, event and license management, volunteer and engagement programmes, and strategic partnerships. They will lead a newly created team with diverse and complementary roles, fill remaining team vacancies, and create a cohesive approach and narrative. As a member of NLOS’s senior management team, they will work closely with colleagues and the Superintendent to create and implement new opportunities to further improve these four iconic green spaces.
