The Partnerships Manager will manage a portfolio of commercial and fundraising accounts totalling c.£250k, as well as some new business development. The portfolio includes a £60k per annum CRM relationship with Plum & Ashby, focused around the Wave of Light candle campaign for Baby Loss Awareness week, with lots of influencer and comms engagement. The new business element will support the Senior Partnerships Manager and the Head of Corporate in their new strategy for increased brand, strategic and coty partnerships.

 Role Particulars

Introduction

The Prison Reform Trust (PRT) was founded in 1981 to inform public debate and improve prison conditions and the treatment of prisoners, amidst concerns about a projected prison population of 48,000 by 1984. Fast forward to today, the prison population in England and Wales is almost 87,000 and is projected to rise to 106,300 by March 2027. We overuse prison for non-violent and persistent crime, and we choose to send people to prison for a long time, and it continues to grow.

Our mission is clear. We are working to create a just, humane and effective prison system by influencing decision-makers opinion formers and the public to 1) reduce the use of prison; 2) Improve conditions for prisoners and, 3) promote equality and human rights in the criminal justice system.

Income in 2023 was £2.06 million, with most of our income portfolio reliant on trusts and foundations. We have just been through a strategic development period and as a part of that we have uncovered significant untapped potential for philanthropic and relational based income growth. We are now seeking a newly designed, ‘Head of Fundraising and Philanthropy’ to lead the whole fundraising programme, but with a specific focus on developing the philanthropy and corporate programme to take Prison Reform Trust to the next level.

You will be a seasoned relational fundraiser, have entrepreneurial flair, be creative and have the ability to influence at the highest of levels. Our client is the charity for the working animal of the world. Since 1923, working through a series of global projects and partnerships across 23 low-income countries, it has supported the welfare of working donkeys, horses, camels, oxen and other working animals in communities that depend on them for water, transport, agriculture, and their very survival.

As part of the charity’s ambitious strategic development plans, they are recruiting a Head of Philanthropy and Fundraising Partnerships. In this role, you will pro-actively lead the development of their Philanthropy and Fundraising Partnerships team as it seeks to acquire new charity partnerships and high value donors and build on their existing funding base. Your key responsibilities include:

Philanthropy and fundraising partnerships programme management

- Lead on the development and operational delivery of the philanthropy and fundraising partnerships strategy, encompassing work across the high-value donor, legacies, trusts, and corporate fundraising income streams.
- Lead on maintaining our clients relationships with existing high-value donors and funders, through the provision of exemplary stewardship.

About the opportunity

Fundraising is critical to delivering our mission and ensuring we can support as many children and young people facing disadvantage to open doors to their future.  The Philanthropy Team as a whole has a combined target income for the current year (2023-24) of £1.83 million (growing to £2.35m as our target for next year), of which approximately £850k is from corporate donors and their foundations, £100k is from individuals, and the remaining from trusts and foundations. We have been successful year on year in increasing our fundraising base by building secure multi-year partnerships.
 

We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to work within our passionate Philanthropy Team to help grow our fundraised income and develop and maintain an effective, high-quality funding pipeline. World Child Cancer is seeking an experienced corporate and philanthropy fundraiser to join our growing team and play a vital role in improving the chances of survival and quality of life of children with cancer in under-resourced countries.

About World Child Cancer

Over 400,000 children worldwide develop cancer each year. Childhood cancer is most often curable, with over 80% survival rate in high income countries. However, in many low-and-middle-income countries survival rates are often 25% or lower.

World Child Cancer’s goal is to help redress that inequity and improve the chances of children with cancer to survive and thrive in under-resourced countries. We currently work with local hospitals in 12 countries in Africa, Asia and Mexico to enable children with cancer to have equal access to the best possible treatment and care through awareness raising on signs of childhood cancer, providing financial, logistical and emotional support to address barriers to access treatment, training of healthcare workers and advocacy.
