They are seeking a Treasurer to provide financial support and guidance for a resurgent NGO. The Treasurer has responsibility for overseeing maintenance of the accounts, providing quarterly management accounts and annual accounts. The postholder will manage the limited number of payments and also provide financial support to the Board of Trustees, including contributing to funding proposals.

Methodist Diaconal Order Support and Advisory Committee (Lay Member)

Are you a Methodist lay person keen to use your experiences and skills to support the ministry of the Methodist Diaconal Order and Methodist Deacons? 

Methodist Deacons are involved in ministry in churches and communities around the country, and are part of the Methodist Diaconal Order. 

The Methodist Diaconal Order Support and Advisory Group is seeking a lay member of the Methodist Church in Britain. Members bring their skills and experience to join with other lay and ordained members of the group in supporting and advising the Warden and Deputy Warden of the Order in their roles and advocating for the Order.

There will be six meetings a year, most online but one in-person.  Members are appointed for three years, renewable for a further three years.

Expressions of interest are invited from lay people who are members of the Methodist Church in Britain.  The MDO has a diverse membership and the Group are actively seeking to be diverse and is committed to encouraging volunteers from people of all backgrounds

Trustee

Are you interested in becoming a voluntary Trustee? We are looking for an experienced and committed individuals to play an essential role in the governance and development of a charity dedicated to supporting young people leaving care.  

The charity provides support and expertise to local authorities around the country to set up and manage Local House Projects so that young people leave care in a planned and supported way.

Position: Trustee (voluntary)

Location: Remote, with travel to Crewe Cheshire

Time commitment: Four Board meetings annually which take place at the head office in Crewe. Plus an Annual Conference and an Annual Young Person’s event which trustees are expected to attend.

Contract: Trustees are appointed initially for three years. Thereafter they may be reappointed for two further terms of three years each after which trustees must step down.

Remuneration: The position is unpaid, though reasonable expenses (such as travel to meetings) are reimbursed.

Role Description

Your primary responsibility is to support Nightlines through the creation of training packages and guidance on topics relevant to Nightline volunteers. 

This could include training packages or guidance on various mental health issues, abusive callers, or answering contacts via email or instant messenger. 

The packages you develop will likely take the form of training sessions, which can be given to individual Nightlines to deliver to their own volunteers, or can also be delivered by Training Packages volunteers directly to Nightline volunteers.

You will sit within the Services Department in the Setup Team and your line manager will be the Setup Team Lead.

You will have a caseload for about 10 nightlines across England, Scotland and Wales helping them to begin the Good Practice Guideline (GPG) accreditation process either for the very first time, their annual checklist or their 3-yearly accreditation update. 

You will explain the GPG accreditation process to Nightlines and provide them with the GPG Questionnaire. Following the response from the Nightline, you will be responsible for checking submitted policies and procedures, and where needed provide feedback on how a Nightline can be GPG compliant. 

You sit within the Quality Assurance Team. The Quality Assurance Team executes the GPG Accreditation Process across all Nightlines affiliated with the Nightline Association, researches industry best practice, and recommends changes to the GPGs as necessary.

Your line manager would be the Quality Assurance Team Lead. The team sits within the Nightline Services Department, headed by the Head of Services.

Activities and Responsibilities

• Provide feedback to Nightlines with notes for them to amend in order to become GPG compliant

• Respond to a Nightline with feedback within 28 days

• Keep in regular contact with Nightlines to ensure they can meet deadlines for the checklist and reaccreditation
