EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE SLT

Contract: Permanent
Hours: Part-time (21-28 hours per week). Additional hours may sometime be required, particularly for Trustee meetings, and can be taken as Time Off In Lieu.

The Executive Assistant (EA) to the SLT will facilitate all the charity’s governance requirements. Activities will primarily focus on Trustee meetings, Committees and Management team meetings, but will include policy administration and all other aspects of corporate governance and company secretariat. The post will also form part of newly-formed HR function within the charity.

The EA to the SLT will be a key role in giving the charity the capacity and expertise it needs to grow in a well-governed and responsible yet ambitious way.

Fundraising Assistant

Horatio’s Garden charity is looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual, with flair for communicating through the written word, to support our Trusts & Foundations fundraising. This is a fantastic role for a graduate or someone looking to start a career in the charitable sector. You will be given ongoing support, training and mentoring throughout the job. 

Horatio’s Garden is a growing, award winning, national charity improving the lives of people with spinal injuries by creating and nurturing outstanding garden projects in NHS spinal injury centres.

Trusts & Foundations is our largest income stream and we are looking to increase capacity in the team during a growth period for the charity.You will support our experienced Trusts & Foundations team to help meet, and exceed, our income targets and to provide fantastic support to our donors.You will also have the opportunity to spend half a day a week in our Salisbury garden assisting the Head Gardener and spending time with beneficiaries.

Main duties: 

1. Identify and research grant giving trusts and foundations to whom Horatio’s Garden is eligible to submit applications for funding. 
2. Proactively approach relevant trusts and foundations, where possible, to discuss potential applications before submission. 
3. Prepare and submit high quality applications for funding for a range of Horatio’s Garden projects.
4. Prepare and submit high quality, timely progress reports to grant givers, contributing to longer term relationship development with funders. 
5. Maintain the Trusts and Foundations pipeline to maximise supporter retention and income generation.
6. Identify and deliver opportunities to engage grant givers with Horatio’s Garden, through events and garden tours, to increase supporter engagement. 
7. Support the whole fundraising team with tasks where required.

General

1. Work with the gardens, arts programme and finance teams at Horatio’s Garden to understand the need for funding and the impact of Horatio’s Garden to maintain profitable relationships with supporters.

2. Ensure all contact and communications with supporters is recorded on our CRM database and on pipelines to enable continuity with supporters across the team.

3. Keep up to date with trends and developments in fundraising to identify opportunities for Horatio’s Garden to increase sustainable income.

4. Actively contribute to team and organisation meetings. 

5. Actively contribute to projects and activities across the organisation, supporting colleagues and volunteers where necessary.

6. Support the charity at events and be willing to help the team with other activities where required.This may require travel to our garden sites across the UK and overnight stays.

About MPE

Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE) is a pan-European organisation representing 52 myeloma and amyloidosis patient groups from over 33 European countries. It is registered as an international non-profit organisation under Belgian Law. A Board mainly composed of patients and caregivers is elected by the membership to oversee the strategy and governance of the organisation. Our goal is to understand unmet needs in the patient population and design patient-focussed research questions which will support new understandings and knowledge. MPE partners with academia, other patient organisations, industry and regulatory bodies where possible to understand more about what gaps exist within the myeloma landscape and how to best generate evidence on these. We work alongside MPE’s policy and access team to anticipate what questions need to be asked and what the data needs are for upcoming medicines approval processes.

As an Assistant Community Shop Manager (ACSM) for St Giles Hospice you will support in leading a team of volunteers. You’ll be empowered to make decisions locally whilst working within a supportive framework. You’ll have good customer service skills and want to be part of a successful team. Ideally, you’ll have previous retail experience with the ability to manage and lead the store in the absence of the Community Shop Manager (CSM).

Reporting into the CSM and working closely with the Retail Regional Manager you will aid in supporting your store to run efficiently and deliver a positive financial contribution to the Hospice. You’ll also have the support of a Retail Regional Supervisor, available to provide store encouragement and development of best practice.

Main Duties

About this role…

Thames Reach’s Outreach teams operate across London and helps those who are rough sleeping to find routes away from the street. The teams respond to referrals and work flexibly to reach London’s most vulnerable. Individuals are assessed to identify their support needs and support plans are created, including work to obtain identification, access health services and refer to other specialist agencies, including those with immigration issues.

We are looking for an  Assistant Support Workers  to join the Street Outreach Rough Sleepers Team

Thames Reach welcomes applications from people with transferable skills.

You will:

• Complete outreach shifts, providing a rapid response to referrals for people who are rough sleeping in the borough 
• Work alongside senior colleagues to identify the fastest and most appropriate route away from the streets for the people that we are working with 
• Provide direct support to people who are found rough sleeping to enable them to move away from the streets and into accommodation 
• Maintain and support relationships with partner agencies 
• Accurately record all work completed within given timeframes 

To succeed as the Assistant Support Worker, you will have:

• A strong commitment to providing a high standard of service 
• An understanding of homelessness which can be based on your professional work, voluntary experience or personal experience 
• Good written and verbal communication skills

As Senior Social Worker, you will:

The essential qualities, skills and experience you will need to apply for this role:

• A degree in social work or equivalent social work qualification and current professional registration
• Experience of community based social care services with experience of delivery with older people and / or disability services
• Experience of leading / managing a team with the ability to manage & effectively prioritise caseloads
• Knowledge and understanding of the values and principles underpinning working with vulnerable adults and their carers within the community setting,
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and good practice, particularly in relation to older people, mental health and disability
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with good judgement and logical decision making ability
• A valid driving licence and access to own vehicle
