Lead Volunteer Role Description
- To update the Volunteers’ Rota from the Court diary and ensure that each Volunteer in the team and the CCSS office has a copy. Wherever possible, the Rota should be kept on a computer for updating and emailed to the rest of the team and the office.
- Ensure sufficient numbers of Volunteers are on duty for effective and appropriate support for bereaved families and witnesses who attend the Inquests.
- To arrange and re-arrange the Rota between the Volunteers, noting any holiday or leave of absence dates.
- Ensure a finalised Rota is sent to the office at the end of each month in order for volunteer expenses to be checked and processed.
- To ensure that all the Volunteers have each other’s contact details and the Volunteer emergency contact details are included in the court file and updated when changes occur.
- To ensure monthly and yearly statistics are kept up to date and to send the Monthly Statistics to the Volunteer who collates the stats at the end of each month.
- To ensure there are sufficient Report Forms for the Volunteers’ use if collecting stats in paper format. If alternative methods of collecting stats are used, to ensure that the team are all using the same method.
- To inform the Operations & Training Manager and the CCSS office of the need for more Volunteers or of any leavers.
- To assist with the recruitment interviews and induction of new Volunteers.
- Responsible for the support of new Volunteers and their final sign off. Where the Lead Volunteer has concerns about the level of support required or the competency of a new Volunteer, they should refer those concerns to the Operations & Training Manager.
- To organise Volunteer team meetings (minimum of 3 meetings per year) and to inform the Operations & Training Manager and the CCSS office via email of the dates of these so they can attend if necessary/appropriate.
- To immediately refer any serious concerns raised by the Coroner or Coroner’s Officers to the CEO.
- To inform the CEO immediately of any issues or concerns that arises at the Court that might impact on the CCSS.
- To provide local information for the Helpline Court Information Sheet when requested.
- To ensure the team follow the practices of the court and work in partnership with the court staff.
- To forward any testimonials about the support provided by our volunteers to the CCSS office.
- Responsibility for maintaining the stock of CCSS leaflets.
- Organise cover for themselves when they are on holiday or need to take time off.

You’ll be volunteering fortnightly on a Thursday from 10.15am-12.15pm.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As part of our Community Support team, you will play a key role in ensuring the fulfilment of our users' needs by sharing information about our services, projects, and activities; this takes place in person, through our digital channels and helpline. Make a difference – become an Academy Governor
You don’t have to be a parent or member of staff to be an academy governor – applications are appreciated from all with an interest in the local community. Academy governors come from all walks of life and specialist knowledge is not always needed. What IS essential is a desire to get involved in children’s education and make a difference to their lives.
We welcome applications from those with educational, health & safety and safeguarding experience, but academy governors are all volunteers and training and support is provided. We have a fundraiser currently who focuses on events and major donors, and our Directors/Trustees have taken the lead with grant applications to Trusts and Foundations. However, we are open to hear from any fundraisers from any type of income stream, as we are looking to diversify our income to maintain sustainability. You will be working closely alongside this group throughout our fundraising journey.

- Project manage fundraising opportunities
- Engage new individual supporters and help other volunteers to increase our fundraising opportunities
- Develop donor journey/stewardship plans
- Identify areas where we operate (Richmond, London) which may allow us to grow in our fundraising campaigns

Community Partnerships and Collaboration
We are looking to develop partnerships with various healthcare, wellbeing, and advocate organisations in our local area and nationally, to be able to collaborate on our services and make an even bigger difference in our community. This could be with organisation like NHS, national charities such as the British Heart Foundation, or our local foodbank.
Our organisation is quite different as we work with a community of people who have multiple chronic illnesses, meaning they could require more complex care, and/or have illnesses fighting each other as well as the person.
We are a small charity, so outreach and partnerships allow us to reach those who need us most, get the word of CM out there and make sure that anyone who needs support, gets it!
You will be working closely alongside our Directors and the CEO, but will have autonomy to work on partnerships that fit the remit of the organisation.

- Organise awareness and 'meet and greet' events to allow potential partners to get to know us well
- Design engagement plans, ideate for which of our services to collaborate on
- Identify relevant organisations around where we operate as well as national organisations
- Create personalised communications with partners, acting as the point of contact on behalf of CM
- Provide reports to the Directors as needed
- Collaborate with the whole organisation - this role is not a fundraising one, however we believe that fundraising is -everyone's responsibility! You will be invited to participate in our fundraising and community events.
What are we looking for?
As our Community Partnerships and Collaborations Lead, you will have:
Proven experience in relationship building
Ability to cultivate and nurture relationships with diverse community groups, healthcare providers, and other organisations
Experience of public speaking
Ideas to execute a successful partnerships strategy
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Awareness of chronic illnesses and the ability to talk about them to supporters
A passion for empowering our community members to thrive alongside their illnesses.

Trustee – Join our Board!

About the Role
Being a Trustee for the CGD Society means you will use your skills and experience to support our charity, ensure we are achieving our aims and we are working towards our goals and mission. All Trustees are jointly responsible for any decisions made as well as defining and overseeing our strategy.
You will work closely with our dedicated staff to ensure the organisation operates effectively, efficiently and economically, with a culture that is positive, and focused on the needs of those it serves.
As well as attending Board meetings, Trustees are encouraged to join a subcommittee and use their skills to assist our staff and maximise effort in a specific area. Our current subcommittees cover Governance, Finance, Fundraising, Community and Medical.
About You
We are seeking individuals who are collaborative, self-motivated and passionate about work that makes a difference. Those seeking a new challenge and enjoy innovative problem-solving will flourish in this role.
Our Trustees bring a range of skills and expertise to the charity. Right now, we are ideally seeking individuals with the following backgrounds:

Lived experience with CGD.

Legal expertise, preferably within a charitable context, to provide essential guidance.

Fundraising proficiency, including successful grant application and grant writing abilities, to enhance income diversification.

Proficiency in Information Technology, digital platforms, and digital marketing

Representation from the healthcare sector to enrich our understanding of healthcare delivery in the UK.

Brand development skills to maximize the utilization of our assets.
Whilst these skills are desirable, we would like to hear from anyone who is interested in this role. A successful Trustee will be able to draw on a diverse range of technical and soft skills as well as their knowledge and passion.
