Job Title: Housing Support Worker
Location: Brent. This is a floating support service which means locations vary from outreach sites, personal homes, and our office.Please be kindly aware although there is step free access at our base office, we cannot guarantee step free access in our outreach sites and participant homes.
Salary: £28,800 (Annual)
Shift Pattern: 5 month fixed term contract, 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday on a rota which can range between 08:00 - 16:00, 09:00 - 17:00 and 10:00 - 18:00. You may be required to work outside these hours dependent on service and participant requirements.
About the Role
We're hiring a Housing Support Worker to join our floating support service which is based in Brent. The service supports adults who have been or are at risk of homelessness, have experienced social exclusion, have previous criminal convictions, suffer with their mental health, have substance misuse, and/or could have a learning disability. You will support participants on their journey towards recovery, reablement, and independence, all within a compassionate, trauma informed environment.
In this role, you'll be at the heart of delivering high quality, person centered support through tailored support plans which provide practical interventions, to empower our participants to overcome personal challenges, develop life skills, and achieve their personal goals. You will also work closely in partnership with various organisations to support the different needs of our participants, which may include signposting. Key Responsibilities Include:
- Support participants will all aspects of their housing needs to support them ensure sustainable housing.
- Co-create tailored support plans which are centered towards the participants needs.
- Signpost participants with local providers to support with their independence such as with Job Centres, employment support hubs, community support centres, mental health trusts and other as relevant.
- Recognise support needs in an individual and initiate appropriate interventions to prevent further deterioration.
- Complete safeguarding and other referrals where required.

- Understanding of the housing support needs that people with multiple, and complex needs face
- Knowledge of external environment to support those who have experienced or are experiencing homelessness
- Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds and/or a good understanding of the sector
- Ability to use, learn and adapt to IT at an intermediate level, including Microsoft and other software programs
- Ability and willingness to show flexibility of working patterns, responding to the needs of the service and residents
- Understanding and/or practical knowledge of the social and societal marginalisation that can be attached to people with complex needs

Key responsibilities

- Assist communities to identify the nature and extent of affordable local housing need in their community including, where appropriate, through a Housing Needs Survey.
- Assist communities to identify a deliverable site for development of affordable housing and/or secure affordable housing as part of market led schemes.
- Build collaborative partnerships with key partners to provide a clear pathway to a successful planning application and delivery. Partners may include, but are not limited to, local communities, parish councils, housing association staff, officers from the Local Authorities (including in their role as providers of affordable housing) and local developers.

Key requirements

Based with our partnering organisations, you will ensure you deliver high quality legal services through casework, the Housing Loss Prevention Advice Scheme and ensuring Legal Aid contract requirements and performance targets are met.
Solicitor
You will challenge unfair housing practices and systemic causes of homelessness through strategic casework and litigation. Working closely with our Greater Manchester team and the Managing Solicitor to strengthen housing rights awareness across the region, you will support Legal Advisers, ensuring high professional standards and compliance.
Paralegal
You will help our solicitors to maintain an active caseload, enabling our clients to enforce their housing rights. Your role will be varied and will include taking instructions and witness statements, drafting letters, making applications, providing court representation and making sure time recording and income targets are met. Please note this role is being advertised as a Paralegal but on appointment the job title will be Legal Adviser.
About You
For the Solicitor role, we are open to newly qualified candidates with a demonstrable interest in social justice, as well as those who have 3+ years PQE and a strong track record in housing law and Legal Aid work. You will have experience or a demonstrable interest in legal practice in the private or not for profit sector with experience of working on a wide range of housing cases, knowledge of legal aid, housing, homelessness and welfare law. You have the ability to research, write reports, time record and meet financial targets, as well as meeting or be willing to develop to meet the Housing Supervisor Requirements (September 2023).
For the Paralegal role you will need a good understanding of litigation work, be able to carry out legal research and provide a good standard of professional service and client care. You will have excellent communication skills, both in writing/drafting and face-to-face along with proficiency using case management systems and time recording, as well as the ability to manage your time and workload. If you have housing law experience and knowledge of Legal Aid/ CCMS this would be an advantage. You enjoy collaborating as part of a team, respond quickly and positively to change and are not afraid to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas when appropriate.

Where you’ll be working
St Mungo’s Bristol Accommodation Services are taking on an exciting expansion, including supported housing Toll House Court in Southville, and Semi Independent Accommodation across West and East Bristol.
These services provide accommodation and housing related support to people experiencing homelessness; dedicated to providing a safe, trauma informed, high quality and inclusive service to people while they are living in the hostel with the aim of working towards a positive move-on into independent housing.
You will join a dynamic team of managers, day shift and night shift workers, taking part in the renewal of the service, helping us to provide a psychologically-informed environment and a supportive and secure place where our residents can make meaningful life changes.
What you’ll be doing as a Project Worker
- Oversee a caseload of clients and provide ongoing 1-1 support in an approachable, caring and person-centred way.
- Provide practical and personal support to clients with complex needs around areas such as housing and health.
- Have a good understanding of a person centred approach and how to provide the right support to clients to meet individual needs, identifying personal aims and ambitions and making plans to achieve them.
- Work with the team, external statutory agencies and voluntary organisations to ensure everyone has access to available support.
- Continue to develop your skills further around working with clients in a holistic way - we will provide training and support to help you gain a deeper understanding of housing and benefits law, and other specialist areas through training, supervision and line management support.
When you'll be working
You will work full time on-site on a 7‑day rolling rota, including early shifts from 7:30am, late shifts until around 10pm, bank holidays, and two extended weekend shifts in every six. Some roles also offer a 20% pay premium for hours worked between 8pm–8am Monday to Friday, and for all weekend hours.

About the role
Reporting directly to the Sanctuary Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of our accommodation pathways, ensuring the best possible outcomes for destitute migrants and newly granted refugees.
This is a dynamic, frontline casework role that spans three core areas of our housing provision:

The Hosting Project: Supporting people seeking sanctuary who have no recourse to public funds by giving them a welcoming, safe place to stay in the home of one of our volunteer hosts.

About you
We are seeking a dedicated, highly organised, and empathetic professional with proven experience working directly with people experiencing homelessness, particularly asylum seekers and forced migrants.
You will have a strong working knowledge of the housing system, the UK welfare system (including Universal Credit and Housing Benefit), and how to support people to access their entitlements. Because this role requires managing complex casework and navigating cultural nuances, you must possess strong interpersonal skills, particularly when working with vulnerable people or those with English as a second language.

The role
As Housing Operations Manager you will oversee both the ongoing supported housing operations and be tasked to bring improvement and consistency of delivery. About you
We are looking for a values-led manager who brings:
- Experience in managing supported housing provisions, with good knowledge of Supported Housing and Ofsted regulations and sector best practice
- Experience of managing people, providing leadership and empowering development to a team delivering housing support
- Proven ability to build positive relationships effectively with internal stakeholders, external partner agencies and local authorities
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and find solutions to operational challenges
- Ability to travel up to 40 days per year

Housing operations and tenancy management
- Lead the day-to-day landlord function across supported housing services, keeping standards consistent and addressing issues before they escalate.
Safeguarding and Risk Management
- Take responsibility for ensuring housing management activity actively identifies and responds to safeguarding risks, including where concerns emerge through non-engagement, property condition, or repeated enforcement action.
Property, Estates and Void Management
- Oversee a planned programme of estate inspections, tenancy audits, and housing-led health and safety checks, ensuring actions are clearly recorded, owned, and followed up where standards fall short.
Compliance and Resident Safety
- Take day-to-day responsibility for housing-led compliance activity, working closely with Property and Compliance teams to make sure statutory requirements are met in practice, not just on paper.
Leadership and Team Management
- Line manage Housing Officers, setting clear expectations around performance, accountability, and professional conduct, and addressing issues promptly where standards slip.
Cross-Departmental Coordination
- Act as the main operational link between Housing, Property, Compliance, Care and Support, and Income teams, ensuring issues are addressed collectively rather than passed between services.
Customer Involvement and Tenant Experience
- Promote meaningful resident involvement in housing services, ensuring opportunities for engagement are accessible and appropriate to the needs of supported housing residents.
Performance, Quality and Assurance
- Use performance data, case audits, complaints, and service insight to identify emerging risks, recurring issues, and gaps in housing management practice.

We are looking for a forward-thinking Finance Manager to play a pivotal role across the organisation, with a particular focus on our supported housing projects. The Finance Manager will line manage the Finance Administrator, who undertakes much of Bridge’s day-to-day finance processing, and will work closely with the Director of Finance on organisational wide financial management.

We are looking for someone who is a part-qualified or a fully qualified accountant, with knowledge of UK accounting regulations. Strong financial reporting and analytical skills along with an understanding of payroll processes and systems is essential.

JOB PURPOSE

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

· To provide practical support when a client moves into a property such as setting up utilities, sourcing furniture, developing their domestic skills and accessing services in the community
· To mediate and negotiate with housing providers to secure accommodation and prevent homelessness when applicable
· To engage with local authorities, health providers and other agencies, creating and maintaining working relationships to maximise the opportunities available to clients
· To liaise with colleges, training agencies, employers to help clients gain access to education, find work or maintain their benefit entitlement
· To lead on client activities to help them gain practical life skills
· To support clients by providing advice on housing, welfare benefits, rent deposits and household goods via a variety of schemes
