Working closely with managers and the wider team, you will play a key role in supporting processes across the hospice. You’ll help us stay compliant, learn from feedback, and keep improving how we support our people and processes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting managers in meetings and offering guidance and support through processes
• Maintaining accurate records and minutes of meetings
• Assisting with recruitment
• Supporting policy reviews and document control
• Helping coordinate training and development across the wider team
• Liaising with teams across the hospice to support process improvement initiatives

The role:

In this new role we are seeking an experienced, confident HR professional to provide both strategic and operational leadership of the EIA HR function through a period of growth and transition.

As a member of the Senior Management team, the Head of HR will contribute towards organisation-wide decision-making and will ensure that the people strategy underpins EIA’s mission and long-term goals. I am currently looking for an Interim HR Business Partner for my Not-for-profit client based in East London. The role will be for a period of 2 - 3 months initially, starting at the beginning of February 2026, paying a daily rate of £256.22 through an umbrella company. You will develop and maintain excellent working relationships across the People Team, the operational Hubs that you support as well as the rest of the business by offering challenging and influencing at senior manager level fostering a high performance culture.

You will support the business in key areas of employee relations, development, reward, engagement, and resourcing providing key business support to services nationally.

You will provide business support to nominated business areas and provide cover to other business areas as and when needed.

Qualifications

English and Maths.
Level 7 CIPD or proven experience.
Comprehensive and up to date knowledge of employment law and HR best practice, and the practical implications for the management of the employment relationship.
Excellent and up to date knowledge of TUPE regulations, processes, risks and opportunities.
Awareness of current developments in the HR field.
Understanding of organisational development processes and interventions.
Awareness of Health & Safety practice as it relates to HR.

Additional information

Salary: Up to £50,000 FTE per annum dependent on experience

Contract: Full Time, 37 hours per week.

Location: Hybrid working, with travel to our Kent office once a week and our London office one a month. Travel to national sites is also occasionally required.

In this pivotal role, you’ll work closely with leaders across the organisation to build capability, strengthen culture and ensure our people strategies truly support our wider business aims. You’ll be the trusted first point of contact for managers and staff in your directorates, offering clear, thoughtful and pragmatic advice across the full spectrum of employment matters.

Whether guiding a manager through a complex employee relations issue, advising on terms and conditions, or ensuring our HR systems and records are accurate and up to date, you’ll bring a calm, human approach rooted in our values of care, respect, integrity and cooperation.

You’ll play a key role in administering our salaries policy, liaising with Payroll, issuing contract amendments, updating policies and supporting our commitment to health, safety and wellbeing. You’ll also help us embed equity, diversity and inclusion in everything we do — balancing organisational needs, individual circumstances, legislation, data insights and our values to provide fair, consistent and compassionate guidance.

Alongside day‑to‑day support, you’ll also have the chance to contribute to exciting cross‑organisational projects linked to organisational development, learning and development, pay and benefits, workforce planning and EDI. We’re looking for someone who brings emotional intelligence, curiosity and a collaborative spirit. You’ll have experience across a broad range of HR advisory and administrative work — including change processes, grievances, disciplinaries, capability and performance management — and a strong understanding of the employee lifecycle. You’ll be confident using an HRIS, analysing data, mediating conversations and supporting wellbeing. You’ll also have up‑to‑date employment law knowledge, line management experience, and be CIPD‑qualified.
