Role Purpose

The Community Engagement Manager (Maternity Cover) role will be a critical piece of our Community Programmes team, which provides support to founders at every stage of their startup journey. The Community Programme offering includes a roster of events including panels, masterclasses and workshops, as well as mentoring and coaching opportunities, and peer-to-peer engagement opportunities. We work with an exciting range of partners across the private and third sectors to connect underrepresented founders to networks and capital that will help launch and grow their mission-driven businesses.

We are looking for a driven, process-oriented self-starter who is interested in a role that will expose them to a variety of activities across the Community portfolio. As the Community Engagement Manager, you’ll work directly with the Co-Head of Programmes to ensure the systems we need are in place to support the team to deliver their support offering and that we are constantly learning and evolving our programme offering from Founder feedback and engagement.

You’ll be responsible for developing and delivering programmes and events for the graduate community, as well as contribute to our community engagement strategy – helping us to set up new aspects of our programmes and collaborating with programme managers and coordinators across the portfolio to contribute to a more engaged community of entrepreneurs.

Responsibilities

Graduate Community Engagement

• Maintain the community engagement strategy for enhanced engagement between founders and a more cohesive founder journey across all stages
•  Maintain the end-to-end design and management of the founder experience in the graduate community platform (Circle)
• Helping founders to widen their networks and facilitate connections that can provide critical support and direction via our graduate community platform
• Work collaboratively across the Programmes team to ensure entrepreneurs who engage with Hatch are connected to the best programmes, resources and offers for them
• Maintaining a list of partnership perks for the  community
• Understanding both founder needs and partnership opportunities and coordinate the creation of  relevant resources, content and perks to meet these
• Attend ecosystem events and speak on behalf of Hatch, and engage the wider team in doing the same
• Helping to ensure consistent relationship management and communication with partner organisations

Programme delivery and development

• Reviewing existing insights and conducting research to refine existing and new peer-to-peer programmes for Hatch founders and graduates
• Engaging mentors, experts and facilitators, where applicable, to support with the leadership of peer-to-peer programmes 
• Planning, facilitating and evaluating networking opportunities for founders to build and foster  community engagement
• Developing and managing  support  opportunities for our graduates to increase their access to capital, contracts, and connections
• Working collaboratively with Marketing and Communications team to drive engagement through founder and graduate communication channels
• Managing the content strategy and maintenance of the Resource Hub, to ensure accessibility of content for founders outside of a cohort programme

Systems and administration

• Maintaining the KPI tracking system to record programme founder participation, feedback and learning outcomes
• Feeding into the development of a new CRM system to help us better manage our founder and partner relationships
• Supporting the development and maintenance of our calendar of activities, showcasing engagement opportunities to our founders and the public
• Reviewing and suggesting improvements and innovations  to systems and implementing system changes

Monitoring and evaluation

• Supporting the collection and collation of feedback from volunteers, mentors and founders in order to monitor and improve participant experience
• Working with the Fundraising team to report on Community Programme KPIs, anecdotal feedback, and to support with the generation of case studies, for funder reports and fundraising pitches
• Collecting and analysing relevant data for the resources webpage, graduate community platform, as well as keeping up to date with any relevant tech updates and training required for monitoring the data

Other 

• Gaining and maintaining in-depth knowledge and understanding of Hatch’s work, priorities and future plans and acting as a spokesperson for the charity when required
• Representing Hatch externally at speaking  and networking opportunities 
• Other duties that may be required from time to time as part of a small, dynamic team

Person Specification 

• Excellent time-management and organisational skills
• Comfortable collecting and generating insights from data for reports
• Experience of working in a fast paced, complex environment, working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders and project managing cross-departmental work
• Exceptional communicator, both written and verbal, and comfortable talking to a wide range of people
• Online community management experience would be desirable

ABOUT BLACK ROOTZ

Black Rootz is a multigenerational growing project providing opportunities for Black and racially minoritised people to grow food for themselves, their families and their communities. Black Rootz was established in 2019 by a collective of Black growers in Haringey who recognised the need to organise to challenge the deep inequalities in the growing and food systems. Over the past 5 years, Black Rootz has developed a holistic practice for Black and racially minoritised communities incorporating intergenerational knowledge transfer, increased access to land and food sovereignty, regenerative environmental practices and reduced food inequality.

Black Rootz has been incubated as a project within The Ubele Initiative since 2019. As an established name in the growing community, it is now building towards an independent future.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Project Manager is a new role that will provide hands on management capacity to Black Rootz. The role will bring experience and energy to support the delivery and continued development of the project’s core activities; the Community Growing Programme and a new workshop series. The Project Manager will take on a management position and, with support from Ubele, help the project to navigate decisions that will enable Black Rootz to achieve its overall social, environmental, and operational ambitions. 

The successful candidate will be central in Black Rootz’ journey towards a more independent and sustainable future. Role Purpose

To fulfil its Programme Strategy 2022-2027, ShelterBox’s programming will be guided by two Shelter Technical leads, one with a greater focus on emergency response and one with a greater focus on transitional and durable shelters and WASH. The two positions - working in close coordination and collaboration - will collaborate with the Programme Quality and Programme Delivery teams, to maximise the quality of ShelterBox’s programming in alignment with our renewed mission, vision, and strategy, under the leadership of the Head of Programme Quality.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

• Provide technical input into shelter and WASH project design and development, ensuring that shelter technical standards are documented in project sheltering strategies and tools, and that these standards are adhered to throughout the project cycle.
• Continually assess ShelterBox’s technical strengths and areas for improvement, identify approaches to addressing areas for improvement and work with relevant colleagues to put these into action.
• Provide technical advice and assistance to needs assessment, project design and delivery, including through participating in project design, reviewing concept notes/proposals and presence in-country where this is necessary to support the quality of high priority activities.
• Support partners technical shelter knowledge and capacity development, ensuring that their activities are aligned with organisational and global humanitarian standards.
• Ensure that shelter projects consider priority cross-cutting issues such as, environment, housing land and property rights, protection, gender and inclusion, and safety; and that site activities comply with appropriate local, national, and international standards and regulations.
• Support to market assessments to identify existing capacities and resources that can be leveraged to support self-recovery in shelter programming.
• Provide technical support and advice to emergency preparedness planning.
• Work with Heads of Department in International Programmes to identify technical capacity building/training needs of programme staff and ShelterBox Response Team volunteers, and work with the Learning & Development team to develop approaches to meeting these needs.
• Support the Programme Delivery team (Emergencies and Regional Programmes) to assess technical capacity of partners. Develop and deliver and/or facilitate access to shelter and WASH technical capacity building opportunities for our partners as appropriate and work with the Learning & Development team to develop approaches to meeting training needs.
• Represent ShelterBox in the Global Shelter Cluster and other relevant global shelter technical fora, networks, and coordination mechanisms. Facilitate participation of other representatives of ShelterBox in technical/sector fora as appropriate.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with technical shelter leads in peer organisations.
• Act as technical focal point for existing strategic global/regional partnerships and support the Director and Deputy Director of International Programmes and the Partnerships Manager to build and maintain new strategic relationships with other shelter actors (not including Rotary).
• Engage with sector networks and resources to maintain relationships and awareness of sector trends, learning and recommended practice. Identify potential opportunities and significant improvements in the way we work.
• Proactively analyse and make recommendations on how emerging global and sector trends, developments and research might potentially affect current policy and practices.

• Accurately and accessibly present ideas, findings, recommendations, and changes as appropriate to the audience to support organisational awareness, decision making, sector voice, and income generation.
• Work away from home, this may be UK or overseas training or deployment to disaster affected areas. Whilst you are unlikely to respond for more than six weeks at any one time, you may be required to deploy for up to 40% of your time in any calendar year.

Who you are:

• An experienced professional with an in-depth understanding of and subject matter expertise on working with businesses on responsible recruitment, ethical labour practices and modern slavery, and significant experience in business engagement/developing and managing senior management corporate sponsor relations (min. 5 years’ experience).

• The ideal candidate should have experience in a business development role, a track record in building and developing business relations, and strong experience of giving presentations, delivering pitches and closing deals.

• Experienced in maintaining and developing corporate sponsor relations including writing client and grant proposals.

• An excellent trainer, with experience of delivering training to businesses.

• A strong project manager and great organiser, with the ability to set and meet demanding targets and deadlines, and to hold others accountable to those.

• A professional who has worked with or within the construction, manufacturing, consumer goods, apparel, finance or care sector on responsible business behaviour.

• An excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with experience of developing and building new successful working relationships with a range of stakeholders, as well as confidence in representing the organisation professionally at a variety of events.

• A motivated and enthusiastic worker, able to work independently and with remote colleagues/stakeholders.

• Someone with a good eye for detail, whilst retaining sight of the bigger picture.

Broxtowe Community Projects (BCP) is a small charity (registered number 1195969) based in Beeston, Nottinghamshire. We work across the geographical borough council area of Broxtowe (NG9 and NG16 postcodes) to alleviate poverty, isolation and hardship. This is an exciting year for BCP in terms of solidifying our growth and development, and this is where you come in! We are looking for an operations manager to help oversee our existing projects as well as those in development, along with ensuring smooth day-to-day operations remain smooth. Our ops manager will support our staff, admin, and volunteer team leaders to ensure they feel supported and empowered in their roles, The role will also undertake and ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of our funded projects so that we can maintain positive relationships with our current funders and confidently seek relationships with new funders.

You will be someone who is compassionate and has a real understanding and empathy around the determinants of poverty and you will want to make a tangible difference to peoples' lives. You will be a creative thinker, with excellent data analysis skills and a high emotional intelligence. You will be confident managing multiple projects and able to maintain focus on both the day-to-day running of our core projects, such as the foodbank, as well as implementing and overseeing shorter term and one-off funded projects.

You will be confident working with people across multiple levels of the organisation, including key stakeholders, and feel empowered to make suggestions and recommendations to our board of trustees. You will also be someone who is well organised, with good people skills, as well as willing to engage with service users and key partners in finding solutions to emerging issues effecting peoples' lives, such as the cost of living crisis.

Overall purpose of the post:
To manage the day-to-day running of this growing charity in Broxtowe and ensure its continued development, working proactively with the trustees to provide day-to-day operational coordination and implement agreed development initiatives.

To coordinate current projects, with a particular focus on the foodbank, and to establish additional services in accordance with community needs.

Principal duties:

• To promote the aims, objectives and values of BCP, primarily the development of a sustainable community.

• To provide effective supervision, management and oversight of the day to day administration of the charity, including HR/staff, maintenance of user data, arranging DBS checks and overseeing the implementation policies and procedures.

The National Programme Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of our fund, ensuring its effective implementation and impact. The National Programme Manager will be working closely with the National Convenor, The Phoenix Way National Leadership Group (NLG), Global Fund for Children (GFC) and national and regional panels to co-design a collaborative grant-making process.

Job title: Regional Director, East and Southern Africa
Principal Location: Nairobi (other strategic locations in East Africa negotiable)

Role Purpose:

Street Child is a rapidly growing, child-focused, humanitarian and development organisation. In 2023, Street Child celebrated reaching over one million children across 25 countries over its fifteen years of existence. This was accomplished with and through a growing network of more than 200 national and local actors. The Regional Director will be a standard bearer of this ambition in East and Southern Africa, providing leadership across all countries where Street Child is operational while monitoring and pursuing growth opportunities across the region. As Street Child’s most senior representative in the region, the Regional Director will guide and drive the organisation to deliver on the objective of ensuring all children are safe, in school, and learning.

As Street Child actively seeks opportunities to expand its support for the most marginalized girls and boys, the Regional Director will be responsible for providing outstanding leadership and for resourcing and delivering high impact programming across East and Southern Africa. The Regional Director will work to identify and advance partnerships with regional, national, and local actors, as well as donors. This will require bringing a strong network to the role along with energy to represent Street Child in organisational, regional, and global forums. As Street Child country teams drive delivery for girls and boys, the Regional Director will work with country directors to develop high-functioning teams to deliver and resource ambitious regional and country strategies.

The Regional Director will manage one regional programme coordinator and will progressively assume responsibility for line management of country directors in East and Southern Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

• The Regional Director will act as chief motivator, working collaboratively with country, regional, and head office teams to:
• Cultivate enthusiastic and high-performing teams through outstanding leadership:
• Build, lead and motivate an ambitious and enthusiastic team of Street Child Country Directors and Strategic Leadership Teams.
• Oversee and support the recruitment and development of passionate, motivated, and technically excellent Street Child staff.
• Strengthen Street Child’s culture of learning, for both staff and local partners, by identifying professional and organisational development opportunities that respond to self-identified capacity gaps.
• Build a supportive network of learning and information exchange between regional county teams.
• Be a frequent in-person presence in operational countries, sometimes spending extended periods to support leadership at the country level, including in insecure contexts.
• Oversee the management of partnerships in countries in East and Southern Africa where Street Child does not maintain a direct presence.
• Drive resource mobilization across the East and Southern Africa region, for country programmes, regional strategy, and partners:
• In close collaboration with country leadership, identify country-level needs, seek out opportunities, and support in the development of winning proposals for country programmes.
• Across the region, identify needs and gaps, and drive new potential expansion opportunities in line with Street Child’s global strategy.
• Guide programmatic excellence across the region through robust strategy development and high-quality programme delivery:
• Develop a technically robust and evidence-based regional strategy that identifies Street Child’s comparative value and strategic goals in the region, across humanitarian, development and refugee contexts.
• Continuously consult with Country Directors, programme managers and local partners to ensure programme design and delivery is iterative, adaptive and quality-assured and impact is clearly measured.
• Provide support to local partners to develop organisational development plans and their own high-functioning leadership structures.
• Oversee and work closely with the regional finance team in their development and delivery of accurate, value for money budgets and robust operational processes.
• Ensure that operations and programmes in East and Southern Africa are conducted in line with Street Child’s policies and standards, including in the areas of safeguarding, safety and security, HR, finance.

1) Be a passionate representative of Street Child and our partners, across the organisation and in external forums:

• Represent Street Child at the highest level in East and Southern Africa, including pro-active participation in relevant coordination mechanisms at national and regional level.
• Represent Street Child and the needs of children in East and Southern Africa in global for a as required.

2) Advance and diversify partnerships with the local actors who respond to the needs of girls and boys in their communities, and with donors who can resource the work:

• Lead the development of strategic partnerships with relevant actors including donors, INGOs and local/national government, including at the regional level.
• Oversee the development of a resource mobilisation strategy for the region based on Street Child’s expertise and donor priorities.
• Lead and/or support Country Directors in the development of high-quality and highly competitive institutional funding proposals.
• Proactive engagement with Street Child UK head office and programmes team on strategic, networking and fundraising activities.
• The Key Responsibilities provide a high-level view of the Regional Director role. These responsibilities will evolve as the Regional Director expands Street Child’s reach across East and Southern Africa. Street Child operates with an entrepreneurial spirit that may require staff to step-up and step-in to reasonable tasks beyond the initial description of their role. The Regional Director may occasionally be called upon to provide surge or scoping support to other parts of Street Child Programmes as delegated by the Director of Global Programmes.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Significant senior management experience, leading high-functioning programme regional or county teams in the humanitarian and development sector. Previous experience as a country or regional director is preferred.
• Strong strategic thinker, with demonstrated expertise developing, resourcing, and delivering strategic plans at the regional or country level.
• Demonstrable experience of proposal development and/or winning funding; Experience in both humanitarian and development contexts.
• Strong command of the localisation agenda, and commitment to local level leadership and decision-making.
• Strong experience delivering high quality education and/or child protection programming.
• Excellent written and spoken communications in English.
• Experience working in the East and Southern Africa region.
• Demonstrated experience working closely with and in support of a multitude of partners including those from local civil society, government, and the private sector.
• Excellent relationship building skills, with an ability to skillfully navigate both national and international stakeholders.
• Willingness to actively engage in program development with country teams including extended missions to support at country level (significant travel expected).
• Additional language skills with a preference for Swahili, Portuguese, French, Somali, or other regional language

"Enthusiastic" "positive" and "not too serious" young person's counsellor wanted- words chosen by our young people! They have asked us to find a counsellor who understands their unique needs and can help them to open up. 

Our role is exciting and varied and includes offering 1-1 counselling and therapeutic groups in different settings, both in schools and the community. We are looking for a qualified and experienced counsellor to join our team and help young people aged 11-25 to find their feet. In return we are a supportive team who are really passionate. 

We use the BACP Ethical Framework to guide our practice and are seeking someone who is registered with the BACP or equivalent professional body. We would like to find someone who uses a range of counselling modalities creatively to meet the needs of young people. This role will involve some group work specifically around young women's mental health, so ideally you would have an interest in this thematic work.

There is some flexibility on working days but there is a requirement to work at least one evening per week up to 8pm. You would be working in different settings across North Cheshire East, including Knutsford, so access to transport would be an advantage. Occasional weekend work would also be required, although hours can be worked on a regular Saturday if preferred.

Good relationships shape our health and happiness, yet we are taught so little about them. LMK is a registered education charity on a mission to change that. We run workshops educating young people about healthy and unhealthy behaviours, so that they can avoid abuse and thrive in relationships. 

Using film and guided discussions, our workshop leaders support children and young people in honest conversations about relationships and leave them better equipped to spot the early warning signs of abuse and inspire them to enjoy healthy, fulfilling relationships.  We explore the 10 signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships and include practical lessons young people want to learn about (like consent) and practice scenarios in a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment.

Job Description 

LMK is looking for passionate and organised educators (LMK Leaders) to run community workshops, aimed at young people aged between 11 and 24. Through engaging, relatable, workshops you will help young people identify signs of healthy and unhealthy relationship behaviours, provide strategies for them to recognise the early warning signs of abuse and give them tools to keep themselves and their friends safe. 

The minimum hours required per workshop is 3 hrs. This includes arriving 30 minutes before delivery, 1.5 to 2 hrs delivery and then remaining back 10 minutes and being accessible to young people who would like further information or a one-to-one conversation, surrounding the subject of relationships.

There is also 30 minutes admin, which is usually completed off-site, such as inputting student surveys and a Leader survey.

Responsibilities 

• Always adhere to LMK and partner safeguarding practices and procedures.

• Respond to comms (emails/WhatsApp) sent out by LMK core team members, in a timely manner, to support planning and organising of sessions.

• Meet with co-facilitators to carry out pre-session planning, minimum two working days before delivery.

• Plan and deliver interactive LMK workshops in educational, sports and community settings in line with LMK delivery style and ethos.

• Use your experience and knowledge of the issues affecting young people to tailor the workshops accordingly. 

• Ensure all youth participants and the adults in school/community organisations who attend a LMK workshop complete the post session feedback surveys.

• Complete reflective post session Leader surveys to support practice and programme development, after each workshop.

• Debrief with LMK’s Programme Manager and provide ongoing feedback about your sessions, through LMK’s reflective practice processes.

• Undertake relevant training associated with LMK’s work including but not restricted to child protection, safeguarding, violence against women and girls (VAWG).

• Continue to learn about and develop your skills on the issues affecting young people’s relationships including domestic violence, abuse, adverse childhood experiences, trauma informed practice, gang culture and grooming, mental health, sexual exploitation, consent, sharing of nudes /sexting, bullying in person and online, tech and online safety, pornography.

• Provide feedback and co-design training and educational resources on issues affecting young people and their relationships, including opportunities to share your knowledge and expertise at peer-to-peer learning sessions.

• Attend termly virtual Leader huddles to remain connected to peers and organisational values, mission, and purpose.

• Contribute towards and keep up to date with LMK internal/external communications platforms, such as LMK Newsletters and social media.

• Engage with LMK’s Youth Advisory Board Members, if and when invited to do so.

• Lead by example and promote healthy relationship behaviours in your own lives/communities and within LMK (team player; acknowledging and working with diversity; being receptive to new ideas and developmental feedback, etc)

• Use your own networks to recruit new schools and youth groups into the programme.

• Drive forward our evaluation programme - collecting data, as well as providing on-going feedback to LMK.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience of teaching or working with young people (9 to 24 yrs old) in an educational, sports or community setting.

• Minimum 2 years’ experience co-designing, delivering and evaluating group sessions, consisting of minimum, of 12 and maximum of 30 participants.

• Experience or co-designing session plans and co-facilitating with others; able to collaborate equally with others.

• A strong commitment to young people and knowledge and understanding of issues affecting their relationships.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills with the ability to create a safe and non-judgmental space, that allows young people to speak freely about their relationships and experience.

• Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to deliver sensitive information whilst treating young people’s concerns with respect.

• Capable of maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries with young people, peers, and professionals.

• Able to adapt and be flexible in workshops to get the best engagement from a range of participants. 

• Skilled at facilitating virtual workshops and working with a selection of online portals. 

Requirements 

• Entitled to work in the UK.

• Hold a DBS certificate or be willing to let us undertake a check on your behalf. 

• Have a recent safeguarding qualification from a recognised provider or be willing to undertake additional training in this area.
