Context and Background
The NSPCC’s mission is to end cruelty to children by fighting for every childhood. To carry out its charitable work the NSPCC relies on the fundraising support of people across the UK for 90% of it’s income. Within fundraising our aim is to provide maximum resources for the NSPCC. We aim to provide the best possible supporter experience, building long-term relationships to create an experience which is different, better and more rewarding than that of supporting any other charity.
The Associate Head of Mass Participation Fundraising is a member of the Supporter Led Fundraising Leadership Team and the Philanthropy & Partnerships Department. The role contributes to the overall leadership and management of the team and department as well as implementing the fundraising plans and strategies for the Engagement & Fundraising Directorate.
Mass Participation Fundraising is an important component in the NSPCC’s Engagement and Fundraising strategy. The post holder will lead and develop a first-class team to develop our portfolio, engaging and deepening the relationship with participants into long-term supporters and optimising the fundraising income they generate.
A key element of the role is to provide leadership across a diverse team, which includes Third Party Events, DIY fundraising and Schools Fundraising. The role will work collaboratively across all departments to build the best possible supporter relationships to generate income and promote key organisational messages to external audiences.
Job purpose
To deliver effective fundraising activities from a mass participation portfolio of diverse products, events and opportunities. To manage relationships with suppliers and agencies, while providing leadership and management to fundraising staff within the Mass Participation Fundraising team. Continually refreshing, improving and growing the portfolio, facilitating increased income generation across all teams.
• To have accountability and responsibility for the budgetary performance of three core Mass Participation income generation streams (Third Party Events, DIY Fundraising, and Schools Fundraising)
• To form and deliver the strategy of acquisition, stewardship and retention of mass participants
• To identify synergies and best practice across similar operations within and beyond Engagement & Fundraising, applying principles of Supporter Centricity across participants and their connected supporters

Main duties and responsibilities
• To work with Head of Supporter Led Fundraising to develop ambitious strategies and business plans to optimise and grow income
• To guide and direct the implementation of agreed strategies including influencing the plans and activities across other fundraising audience streams
• To develop, deliver and be accountable for teams' annual budgets through monitoring, managing and reforecasting financial performance, ensuring that contingency plans are in place as required
• To guide and direct efficient acquisition strategies across Third Party Events, DIY Fundraising and Schools Fundraising and ensure all supporters are onboarded to the organisation appropriately, supporting retention.
• To seek and commission insight of sector-wide fundraising opportunities through a range of markets and/or supporter groups, to inform the team strategies
• To be accountable for the management of agency relationships and core suppliers that are key to the delivery of income growth and supporter satisfaction
• Within the Supporter Centricity framework, promote and prioritise lead sharing across fundraising, ensuring supporters follow the best supporter journey, establishing Mass Participation as a core route for new supporter acquisition

Person specification

The Vacancy
This is an exciting opportunity within the newly formed Centralised functions at NCB supporting the Project Support, Events or Business Support teams.
The post holders will support the organisation’s portfolio of projects and/or complex learning event delivery of online and in-person workshops and conferences for the team they are working in, working closely with peers to provide coherent, consistent support to delivery teams. We are looking for a confident, motivated, and relationship-focused Fundraiser to help raise vital funds for our humanitarian
projects around the world.
As a key ambassador for the charity, you will build strong relationships with donors, supporters, businesses, and communities, inspiring them to support our mission. Using a range of fundraising tools, campaigns, events, partnerships, and digital platforms, you will maximise income to support life-changing humanitarian programmes.

The role:
This is an exciting role within the Communications Team at Glass Door Homeless Charity. The Marketing Officer will lead on the creation and delivery of multi‑channel marketing campaigns that drive engagement, help generate vital income and maximise impact across our Communication and Fundraising activities.
This is a highly collaborative role with the Fundraising team, acting as a strong marketing support function for fundraising appeals, events and community fundraising.
This role will also provide marketing support to the wider organisation to encourage engagement across a wide-range of audiences; from supporting with key messaging in Volunteer newsletters, to ensuring clear messaging for front-line service collateral to helping draft a speech for a flagship event.
Using insight and performance data, this role will continually optimise marketing activity, helping us deepen relationships with existing supporters while reaching and inspiring new audiences through targeted, audience-led communications.
Marketing
Lead, plan and deliver campaigns from concept through to evaluation, producing engaging content, and continuously optimising performance using data, audience insight and clear KPI’s.
Lead, plan and deliver digital marketing campaigns across email, web & socials to support fundraising appeals, events and community fundraisers.
Oversee development and delivery of quarterly e-newsletters and assist colleagues with their email marketing to ensure on brand and in line with overall digital calendar.
Work closely & collaboratively with the Digital Communications Officer to create and ensure all content is optimised for multiple purpose/platforms and in line with our brand guidelines.
Manage website content, landing pages and user journeys to improve audience experience and conversion using SEO and key-word optimisation.
Work closely with the Community, Events & Partnerships fundraising colleagues to ensure content and digital journeys are meeting their needs through an integrated marketing approach.
Monitor impact
Produce monthly, annual and ad-hoc reports on the impact of our marketing campaigns against key KPI’s and metrics across email, web and socials using tools within Google, SEO and Social platforms.
Work closely & collaboratively with the Digital Communications Officer to ensure all conversions of paid promotion are tracked effectively and monitor campaign performance across digital channels, identifying opportunities to improve engagement.
Analyse marketing journeys for collaborative Fundraising deliverables – including appeals and events and create monthly reports to share success of conversions.
Monitor and follow trends within digital and innovation to improve the organisation’s digital presence and activities.
Ensure marketing activity complies with relevant data protection, privacy and governance requirements.
Strategy
Support the creation & delivery of the annual Communications plan creating content such as blogs, case studies and informative pieces for web, socials, email and annual campaigns.
Support the Fundraising Team’s strategic promotion and stewarding objectives of campaigns, appeals & challenge events.
Work closely & collaboratively with the Individual Giving Officer to run email marketing campaigns to support our annual appeals - including audience specific segmented email journeys.
Work closely and collaboratively with the Volunteer Involvement Manager to deliver a year-round email marketing plan.
Other
Work collaboratively with the Head of Communications & Fundraising and key colleagues across the organisation to support the creation and delivery of the Annual Impact Report and Women’s Report, as well as with external contractors on film and design projects
Attend and participate in reoccurring team meetings, and other relevant ad hoc meetings when necessary
Undertake other ad hoc tasks as directed, such as assistance on Glass Door events and fundraising & challenge events

Person Specification:
To be successful in this role, you will have experience delivering multi‑channel marketing campaigns, with a strong understanding of how content and messaging adapts across social media, email and web.
You’ll be confident creating and publishing content, and able to write clear, engaging and accessible copy tailored to different audiences and platforms with a willingness to learn and test new ideas.
You will have experience in or offering support of fundraising activities, including marketing for events, appeal and/or community fundraising.
You’ll bring an organised, collaborative approach, with strong communication skills and a genuine interest in creating effective, impactful and inspiring campaigns that supports our vision of ending homelessness in London.
Essential

Proven experience of increasing reach and engagement across the spectrum of communications channels.
Proven experience of supporting fundraising activities; specifically appeals, events & campaigns.

The Vacancy
This is an exciting opportunity within the newly formed Centralised functions at NCB supporting the Project Support, Events or Business Support teams.
The post holders will support the organisation’s portfolio of projects and/or complex learning event delivery of online and in-person workshops and conferences for the team they are working in, working closely with peers to provide coherent, consistent support to delivery teams.
