Job description

IPSEA is a national charity providing free legally-based independent information, advice and casework support to the families of children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). 

We are looking for a Volunteer Services Manager to take lead responsibility for the day-to-day running of our volunteer programme. Volunteers are at the heart of what IPSEA does and we are looking for someone to develop and implement a strategy for recruiting, training and retaining sufficient volunteers to deliver IPSEA’s SEND law helplines and SEND Tribunal casework support service.

The role will involve:

  • developing and implementing systems for monitoring volunteer activity and service levels to ensure the effective delivery and development of IPSEA’s volunteer work programme
  • developing policies, procedures and guidance for IPSEA volunteers, and
  • providing information, advice, support and coaching to IPSEA volunteers and working to ensure our volunteers feel heard, valued and appreciated.

The role is home-based with occasional visits to the IPSEA office in Saffron Walden, Essex (once the office reopens). It calls for someone with significant experience of developing, implementing and evaluating volunteer programmes.
