Category Manager | £55,000 - £60,000 + Benefits | 12-month FTC | London - Hybrid Working
For a large UK-wide Housing Association, we're recruiting a Category Manager on a 12-month FTC. During a period of significant investment in service provision and effective category management and business partnering, the Category Manager will continue this journey of operational excellence and will develop and lead strategic sourcing, agreeing procurement strategy for several supply chain categories taking a commercial and compliant approach in development the best routes to market.
What you'll be doing:
- Work alongside the group procurement team and senior procurement manager to develop and deliver operationally excellent strategies for a portfolio of supply chain categories
- Lead on the development, procurement and implementation of category strategies, ensuring contracts awarded deliver value for money
- Identify key supply relationships to drive improvement in value for money, performance, quality, service and innovation
- Develop successful supply chain relationships though supplier visits, and understanding end-to-end supply chains
- Develop extensive market research and analysis and evaluate market intelligence to support procurement strategies
- Monitor and report on supplier performance across the group for assigned categories
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure all portfolio suppliers are monitored during their contracts, and facilitate the review and audit of spend categories
- Develop and provide management information on category spend across all budgets and procurement efficiencies
- Develop best practices to ensure regulatory and governance compliance.
What you'll offer us:
- CIPS qualified (or studying towards)
- Proven track record in applying Public Contracts Regulations (PCR 2015) knowledge to the management of end-to-end procurement activity
- Experience in Corporate Services Category Management (HR, Finance, Facilities, Marketing)
- Experience using different routes to market including frameworks/DPS and other tender approaches

About the Role

This project will restore 75 km of rare urban chalk stream habitat and connect over 20,000 people with their local rivers through hands-on conservation, education, and citizen science.
As Development Lead, you will shape the Trust’s first Engagement Strategy, coordinate an extensive community consultation programme, and manage the London Volunteering and Engagement Programme. You will also oversee delivery partners and help develop a major funding application for the next phase of work. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience in strategic project management, collaborative programme design, and large-scale heritage funding.

About the role:

About the opportunity

Sounds great, what will I be doing?
As a senior member of Hestia's operations team, your role is pivotal in ensuring the effective delivery of the organisation's strategic objectives. You will contribute to the development of Hestia's strategic goals and annual planning processes, translating these into a comprehensive Area Plan that aligns with the organisation's values and aims. This plan should be delivered effectively across services, with a focus on continuous improvement and outcome-driven service delivery. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to enhance service performance through a SMART annual business plan. Ensuring adherence to Hestia's policies and procedures is essential, as is contributing to their ongoing refinement. Building strong partnerships with voluntary and statutory sector providers is crucial to fostering best practices and a collaborative approach to service planning. What do I need to bring with me?

Experience in managing domestic abuse services and overseeing local project and service managers is required. The ability to transform underperforming services and support staff through robust improvement plans is essential. They must be capable of managing diverse teams with varied skill sets and working independently within policy frameworks.
Strong communication skills are required, along with a high level of financial and commercial acumen. The candidate should possess a working knowledge of the legal framework for protecting vulnerable adults and children and understand the importance of outcome-focused service delivery. A solid grasp of safeguarding issues and the ability to respond appropriately is also necessary. Are you a proactive person looking for a schedule that offers unique flexibility in Bristol?
We are looking for people to join our Bristol Women’s Pathway in the role of Night Concierge (*women only).
Managed in partnership by St Mungo’s and Next Link, Respite Rooms is a 12-month pilot offering short-stay, trauma-informed accommodation for women with complex needs fleeing or at risk of domestic and gender-based violence.
You will be joining a busy service working as a Night Concierge, you will:
- Provide a first point of contact and safeguarding to clients at night.
- Be responsible for dealing with emergencies, undertaking regular health and safety checks on patrols and through monitoring the CCTV system.
- Report incidents or maintenance issues and communicate any concerns or events to the rest of the team.
- This is a lone-working night role, with support available through an on-call system to ensure guidance and assistance is always accessible when needed.
Typical schedule: A rolling night shift rota, including weekends and bank holidays, usually around 9pm-7.30am with 3-4 days off.
About you
This is a great role to learn about working in the charity sector, many of our specialist workers and managers developed a career after starting in Night Concierge roles.
- You don’t need loads of experience; but some time working or volunteering in a similar environment and an understanding of the issues that affect vulnerable women who may have complex needs will be beneficial.
- You should have good communication and basic IT skills with the ability to keep records and follow procedures.
- The ability to stay alert and awake during your shift, and work independently.
- Using your initiative to remain calm to identify the appropriate action to take in various situations.

About the Role

About You

- Proven property management: Substantial experience managing a multi-site or global property portfolio, including facilities management and residential properties as well as experience in generating income from conference suite or facilities hire.

akt is the UK’s national LGBTQ Youth Homelessness charity. We provide safe homes, mentoring, and support to ensure that no young person needs to choose between a safe home and being who they are. 24% of young people facing homelessness in the UK identify as LGBT (National Scoping of LGBT Youth Homelessness, akt, 2015) and 78% of LGBTQ+ young people cited an absence of family support (The LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness Report, akt, 2021). The charity was founded in 1989 and operates service centres in London, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol and works online through a Digital Service to offer support to young people outside of our four office regions. akt works with over 800 vulnerable young people a year providing both face to face and online assistance.
The Team

We are a small team of passionate fundraisers, marketers and communications professionals with one goal - to find homes and better support for homeless LGBTQ+ young people. This role line-manages a Social Media Content Coordinator.
Job Summary

We are looking for a creative, outward-focused communicator to put akt on the map – developing stories and messages, and driving reach through strategic channel management, as well as ambitious celeb, PR and influencer partnerships.
With limited budget and resource, you’ll need to be strategic and inventive to make sure our cause is seen, heard and supported. You’ll also need to be rooted in LGBTQ+ online culture. You’ll be responsible for the management and content of akt’s ‘shop window’ – our social channels and website. As the People and Wellbeing Officer, you will work with a large amount of autonomy and should be confident in being able to multitask, balance competing priorities, and have an
excellent eye for detail. You will develop innovative ideas and solutions to streamline and improve operational processes and be responsible for providing an efficient and effective HR
operational service across the Charity so that our staff can learn, develop, and grow in an environment that works for them.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational HR
- Provide first-line advice and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation
- Support employee relations casework, including absence management, performance, disciplinary, and grievance processes
- Lead on the coordination of recruitment, onboarding, and induction to ensure a positive staff experience
- Maintain accurate HR records and ensure compliance with data protection and governance standards
- Contribute to the review and continuous improvement of HR policies and processes.
Wellbeing, Culture, and Inclusion
- Champion wellbeing and inclusion across the organisation through proactive communication, campaigns, and events
- Support the delivery of the charity’s People and Culture Strategy, embedding wellbeing and engagement into everyday practice
- Lead on employee wellbeing activities such as staff surveys, wellbeing days, and awareness campaigns
- Support the People and Culture Manager in developing and monitoring staff engagement initiatives and feedback mechanisms
- Promote the organisation’s values and a positive culture of respect, collaboration, and transparency.
Organisational Development
- Support leading and development coordination, tracking participation, and evaluating impact
- Contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion (EDI) action plans and reporting
- Assist with the analysis of people data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Support internal communications relating to HR, wellbeing, and people updates
Essential Criteria:
- CIPD Level 3 or above (or working towards Level 5) or equivalent professional experience
- Proven experience in a HR or people-focused role with knowledge of HR best practice and employment legislation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport across all levels
- Experience in supporting employee relations casework
- Demonstrated commitment to wellbeing, inclusion, and equity in the workplace
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Skilled IT user with experience in HR systems and Microsoft Office.

About Women in Prison
Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation. We deliver front line support to women harmed by the criminal justice system, through our work in prisons, in the community and ‘through the prison gate’ as they resettle back into their communities. We also campaign for systems change that addresses the root causes of offending, reduces the harmful impact of prison, and creates workable, community-based alternatives to imprisonment.
Job Purpose:
Women in Prison’s Advocates deliver high-quality, trauma-informed, independent advocacy for women in communities and in prisons, which focuses on early intervention, and holistic provision as part of a ‘whole system’ multi-agency response that looks to address the root causes of women’s offending.
