ROLE OVERVIEW
You will be a passionate and ambitious leader with the skills, knowledge and experience to drive Membership retention and growth whilst listening to our diverse membership base to understand the areas that are important to them to help us to support their specific needs in their areas.
You will have a dynamic approach with the ability to combine business development, relationship management, stakeholder engagement and operational oversight to ensure that RLSS UK’s membership thrives and aligns with our purpose, mission and vision.
RLSS UK members include Lifesavers, Lifeguards, Licence to Operate Members, Lifesaving Academy members, Honorary Members and Staff.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Regular communications and support to branches and lifesaving clubs
- Engage with our members to understand their needs and future opportunities to support their roles in their communities and beyond
- Conduct research and horizon scan for new opportunities for our members
- Conduct research to identify and understand potential new members and opportunities to support growth and meet need
- Conduct research to identify and connect with relevant external stakeholders
- Drive new membership onboarding, ensuring a seamless and effective experience
- Ensure clubs achieve and maintain the appropriate accreditation in line with RLSS UK requirements, policies and processes
- Develop an annual plan of community engagement and roadshows with members and non-members to raise awareness of the work of RLSS UK and our members, to recruit new members and share water safety and drowning prevention education and campaigns
- Ensure clear and concise processes are in place to support membership experience, retention and growth
- Work collaboratively with all RLSS UK teams to raise awareness of our awards and qualifications offer. Collaborate to adapt offerings based on member feedback and emerging industry trends
- Develop tailored marketing materials to support our membership offer and recruit new members.
- Represent RLSS UK in meetings with key stakeholders and to share outcomes and impact to further the society’s purpose, mission and vision.
- Respond to membership queries and provide an excellent service together with timely responses
- Support the implementation, update and oversight of the CRM system to improve member engagement tracking and data management.

- Work closely with the Volunteering Team, particularly in relation to volunteers within RLSS UK branches and clubs
- Actively develop initiatives that broaden the demographic diversity of the RLSS UK membership
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead on and support ad hoc projects as required
- Contribute to the successful operation of the charity by undertaking such other tasks as may from time to time be required including all other duties reasonably associated with your role, as directed by the Line Manager.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Relevant Experience, Skills and/or Aptitudes
- At least 10+ years’ experience in a Membership role
- Significant experience of working at a leadership role level ideally in a membership organisation
- Demonstrable experience of positively interacting, engaging and influencing at all levels including with senior management and external stakeholders
- Demonstrable experience of membership retention and acquisition
- Demonstrable experience of successfully pitching new approaches to prospective members, ideally in a membership organisation
- Demonstrable experience of delivering member-focused solutions within a membership organisation
- Excellent communication, engagement and interpersonal skills
- Excellent presentation, listening and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in CRM software and MS Office applications
- Willingness and ability to travel as required for the role including occasional evenings and weekends
Desirable Relevant Experience, Skills and/or Aptitudes
- Knowledge and understanding of RLSS UK
- Skilled income generator with experience in achieving income targets, possibly with a previous account management background or experience of a similar B2B membership

- Oversee the management, integrity and development of the operations Salesforce In-Form.
- Lead on the design and delivery of reporting tools and dashboards to monitor performance.

- Ensure accurate and consistent data entry, storage, and processing across all teams.
- Produce regular monitoring reports for service commissioners, ensuring compliance with contractual and statutory requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Managing people operations and advisory support
· Support managers with employee relations advice and guidance (informal and formal people processes), acting as a trusted expert on all people policy and process matters.
· Oversee the employee lifecycle from recruitment through to leaving The Charity, ensuring inclusive, legally compliant and engaging processes throughout each stage.
· Work with the People and Culture Officer to design recruitment campaigns and talent attraction that contribute to building a diverse talent pipeline.
· Manage onboarding and induction processes to ensure a positive first 100 days at The Charity.
· Oversee the communication and administration of policies, contracts, payroll changes, and compliance checks (Right to Work, DBS, references).

· Maintain accurate records on PeopleHR (our HR database) and Team Tailor (our Applicant Tracking System), ensuring compliance with employment law and GDPR.
Managing volunteering operations
· Lead the operational plan with respect to volunteering, ensuring volunteering supports departmental priorities. This will include acting as the central point of contact for volunteering operations, providing guidance, support and inspiration to teams and volunteers on volunteering policy and process.
· Oversee the recruitment, induction and training of volunteers, working with the People and Culture Officer, Learning and Development Lead and People Administrator, developing digital and in-person learning resources. This will include promoting volunteering opportunities internally and externally, ensuring clear and engaging communications.
· Support the Head of People and Culture to develop recognition initiatives to ensure volunteers feel valued and connected, including campaigns such as Volunteers’ Week and Trustees’ Week, working alongside the Internal Communications Manager role.
· Support Volunteer Coordinators across teams with advice, training and problem-solving to ensure a consistently excellent volunteer experience.
· Ensure volunteering activity is safe and aligned with safeguarding, risk and data protection standards through ensuring policies and procedures are up to date and compliant with legislation.
· Manage the volunteer management system (Volunteero) and use data and feedback to evaluate and improve the volunteer experience.

Purpose of the Role
The Finance Manager leads the eoa’s finances to ensure the businesses resources are used effectively, efficiently, and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of the organisation’s financial strategy, ensuring it underpins and enables operational delivery.
- Manage the annual budget-setting process, working closely with colleagues to align budgets with strategic priorities.
- Manage day-to-day financial operations, including financial accounting, membership renewals, bank account management, cash flow monitoring, credit control, payments, and function oversight.
- Take responsibility for accurate and timely payroll and pension delivery, working in partnership with an external provider.
- Prepare and reconcile monthly, and year-end accounts, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and robust controls.
- Produce accurate, timely financial forecasts, management accounts and financial analysis to support operational and strategic decisions.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including tax (VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax) and financial reporting obligations.
- Maintain strong internal controls and risk management processes, safeguarding the organisation’s financial health.
- Act as a signatory on company bank accounts, ensuring appropriate authorisation and governance arrangements are in place.
- Lead the ongoing development and improvement of finance processes and systems, and automations to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
Knowledge, Experience, and Attributes
- Degree-level education and either ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualification.
- Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and delivering accurate management accounts and financial analysis.
- Experience of working for or preparing SME accounts, managing audits, risk, and internal controls, with a focus on continuous improvement of systems and processes.
- Strategic thinker who can translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insight for senior leaders and the Board.
- Highly organised, proactive, and solution-focused, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Overall responsibilities / requirements …
To oversee the smooth running of the Society’s publishing platform, which showcases our portfolio of online titles. Reporting to the Head of Publishing Operations (HoPO), you will be chiefly responsible for the management, support and maintenance of the Atypon powered Lyell Collection platform.
You will collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless operations and stay up to date with the latest emerging platform technologies. You will be responsible for maintaining the Society’s online publishing platforms, so an understanding of a range of standard integrations, workflows, html and XML is essential.
Key accountabilities
Platform maintenance
- Oversee and maintain the Atypon Web Admin Tool (WAT) for the Society’s scholarly book and journal platform.
- Manage a queue of platform maintenance and change requests, including triage, feasibility analysis, testing and quality assurance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for reporting platform issues to Atypon (the hosting provider), managing communications, and monitoring the support ticket system to ensure timely resolution.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot platform issues reported internally and communicate resolution statuses.
- Support development of new platform features and assist with implementation and QA.
- Maintain, validate, edit, and troubleshoot JATS XML while staying current with JATS and NISO standards and ensuring vendor compliance.
- Set up new pages and journal/book series sites within the platform as needed, ensuring all new website content is consistent with site templates and branding.
- Ensure that any new developments are tested and work as per requirements, utilizing the test facilities of the platform via sandbox areas.
Third party tools and services

- Manage web accessibility compliance in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors by overseeing the implementation of necessary improvements in line with publishing standards and directives.

Ensuring a consistently high-quality Supporter Experience. This role is responsible for strengthening the emotional connection to WaterAid’s mission and maximising Brand Loyalty and Love by driving the development and optimisation of all supporter journeys and stewardship communications.
In this role, you will:
- Supporter Experience Ownership: Act as the champion for the quality of the Supporter Experience, leading the coordination and optimisation of all automated, multi-channel supporter journeys (excluding direct appeals).
- Key Channel Delivery: Own the content planning, production, and delivery for core stewardship channels, including the Supporter Magazine, Welcome Journeys, and Feedback Communications.
- Email Programme Management: Own the day-to-day coordination of the email marketing schedule across all stewardship and engagement communications, ensuring effective sequencing and segmentation.
- Programme Cohesion: Work with the Senior Manager and Income Appeals Manager to ensure cohesion and alignment across all retention programmes, safeguarding a seamless supporter experience.
- Financial Contribution: Manage the assigned expenditure budget for the retention programme and contribute actively to annual planning and quarterly reforecasting to maximise retention benefits.

Requirements
- Retention & Stewardship Expertise: Deep expertise in developing, optimising, and coordinating complex, multi-channel supporter loyalty programmes and automated journeys.
- Content & Experience Focus: Proven experience in improving the quality of the Supporter Experience and managing high-quality, long-form content production (e.g., supporter magazine) to foster loyalty.
- Operational & Technical Skills: Strong project management skills, experience in matrix management, and proficiency in working with CRM systems and email marketing platforms.
- Data-Driven Mindset: Experience in using testing, segmentation, and data analysis to drive optimisation and provide clear rationale for strategic decisions.
Although not essential, we’d prefer you to have:
- Product Development: Experience in New Product Development (NPD) for fundraising or loyalty programmes (e.g. legacy or emergency funds).
- Professional Qualification: CIM/IDM Qualification or equivalent professional qualification.
- Non-Profit Experience: Prior experience working in the Non-Profit or International Development

Job Title: Project Co-Ordinator
Contract Type: 28 hours per week, 12 months fixed-term contract
Salary: £24,800 per annum (£31,000 FTE)
Base: This role is primarily remote, with regular travel required. The successful candidate will travel one day per week to Manchester and one day per week to the Northeast to deliver and support workshops. There will also be occasional travel to the Head Office in Droitwich, Worcestershire.

Overview
The Project Co-ordinator will be responsible for the planning, implementation and management of our various programmes and initiatives aimed at supporting individuals who have spent their childhood in the care system. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the Project Co-ordinator will ensure that all aspects of project delivery is carried on time, within scope, and within budget. We are seeking an individual who is a creative thinker and can develop innovative, engaging sessions and opportunities for care leavers. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful initiatives designed to improve the health, mental health, well-being, and overall life outcomes for care leavers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the various programmes and initiatives.
- Ensure all project activities are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Develop detailed project plans, monitor progress, and make adjustments as necessary.
- Coordinate the delivery of activity with the relevant delivery partners to ensure services are provided on time and appropriately meet the needs of care leavers.
2. Communication and Stakeholder Management
- Foster strong relationships with delivery partners, customers, statutory services, and commissioners.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders.
- Address any issues or concerns raised by stakeholders promptly and effectively.
- Organise and facilitate meetings, ensuring communication is clear and action points are followed up.
- Prepare and send out project-related communications, updates, and reports to stakeholders.
3. Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Adhere to agreed project outcomes and activity-based targets.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including progress reports, risk logs, and other relevant documents.
- Monitor and report on project budgets, identifying any potential overruns or issues.
- Collect and analyse data/feedback on programme outcomes and evaluate the success of projects upon completion, ensuring outcomes align with the charity’s mission and strategic goals.
- Prepare and present reports on the effectiveness and impact of the programmes/initiatives to commissioners/stakeholders.
- Assist with the preparation of funding applications, reports, and other documentation for funders.
- Provide recommendations for process improvements to enhance project delivery in the future.
4. Budget Monitoring and Reporting
- Liaise with the finance team who will prepare regular financial reports for commissioners.
- Identify and address any financial risks or discrepancies and raise them with the finance team.
5. Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Implement quality assurance processes to maintain high standards of service delivery.
6. Additional Duties
- Participate in meetings, training sessions, and other events as required.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the various programmes and initiatives.
- Work in line with the charities ‘Vision and Values’.
- Work to deadlines and respond in a flexible way to changing demands.
- Maintain a positive demeanour that supports a happy working environment and remain flexible and professional at all times.
- Treat other staff/care leavers and other agencies as one expects to be treated oneself.

Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
- Proven experience of working within the charity or statutory sector (paid or voluntary), with clear evidence of making a positive and measurable difference.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to manage and prioritise tasks effectively, ensuring accuracy and quality in all work.
- Ability to analyse data and understand funder requirements and reporting.
- Budget monitoring skills.
- Ability to identify problems early and develop practical solutions.
- Proficiency in using project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable:
- Understanding of the challenges faced by individuals who have been in the care system.
- Professional certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).

The postholder will play an important role in maintaining subscriber relationships, supporting promotional activity and ensuring events run smoothly.
