The British Society for Immunology (BSI) is recruiting a permanent full-time Senior Marketing & Communications Officer to deliver engaging communications to a variety of audiences to drive the reach and influence of the Society’s work. 

The British Society for Immunology is an influential and authoritative voice for immunology, a key scientific and health field that plays a central role in many of the most pressing global health challenges we face, including research into the COVID-19 pandemic, developing new treatments and vaccines against disease, and supporting ageing populations to experience healthier lives for longer. This role is split equally between supporting activities of the BSI and those of our publishing portfolio. On the BSI side, you will be responsible for developing and delivering our marketing and communications activity through a variety of channels. Activities can include promoting our membership offering to immunologists working in academia, industry and the clinical sector, promoting key activities such as our events or training offerings, and supporting initiatives to raise the importance and influence of immunology. On publishing, you will be responsible for developing and delivering impactful marketing activities to increase submissions and readership of our official journals, Clinical & Experimental Immunology, Immunotherapy Advances and Discovery Immunology, in particular building the reputation of our newer Open Access journals

This creative role is a fantastic opportunity for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills and a passion for science, who is looking to build their expertise and experience working on impactful marketing and communications projects in an innovative charity.

PA to Executive Director of International Programmes

Contract: 13 Months Fixed-term contract, Full Time, Maternity cover

About the Role:

The role will be split 80/20 with a majority focus on executive support for the Executive Director, ensuring they are well organised and briefed and supported to maximise her capacity to lead WaterAid effectively. The role will also be instrumental in running operations in the department, including supporting the organisation with key high profile programme events, line managing the administrator to ensure the department is working effectively and efficiently within itself and the wider organisation.

In this role, you'll:

A) Provide professional, timely and proactive support to the Executive Director of International Programmes, including:

• Diary and meeting support
• Support internal processes, communications and prioritisation Support internal communications with the directorate and wider organisation so these are timely, strategic and engaging;
• General administrative support

B) Operations for the department

• Oversee departmental operations to ensure compliance with wider WaterAid processes as well as championing, innovating, or streamlining the department's process and procedure.
• Maintain effective filing systems ensuring archive material is safe and can be retrieved in line with Data Protection Regulations.
• Organise and lead logistical planning for any departmental events that take place in either the UK or Country Programme locations, as necessary.
• Work as part of a wider team of PAs and Administrators across the organisation, ensuring mutual support and good communication between teams.

About You:

• Proven successful track record of being a Senior Administrator or Personal Assistant in a global organisation, including exceptional diary management;
• Effective time-management, organisation and prioritisation skills, including ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and to keep track of high volumes of information within a busy environment;
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including ability to assimilate information quickly and produce accurate minutes, clear PowerPoint presentations and written briefings;
• Integrity and the ability to act with discretion and respect confidentiality.
• Digitally literate with excellent IT skills, particularly for setting up virtual meetings and effectively using Microsoft Office tools, with extensive experience of using PowerPoint and creating simple and compelling presentations;
• Numerical accuracy and experience of managing and processing invoices and expenses. Ability to co-ordinate / track project budget.
• Team player who is motivated by the desire to support others to be effective and efficient in their work, proactive, with confidence to take initiative and solve problems;
• Willingness to travel in the UK and internationally, if required, for the proper performance and delivery of the role;

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and passionate person to join our EDI team. This is a new role that aims to support the co-creation of a sustainable EDI training solution that delivers our ambitious strategic plans for improving our working and volunteering culture. 

The training will also support behavioural change in both of these communities. Through the creation of safe, brave spaces, you’ll be raising the awareness and knowledge of EDI related topics for both our staff and volunteers.

You’ll be pivotal in helping us to design, deliver and evaluate a training offer which meets our EDI training needs. In addition, your expertise will support other training programmes associated with behavioural change. 

As a result, our colleagues and volunteers will grow in confidence by equipping them with the tools to be active allies. You’ll build knowledge and awareness to support our ambitions to create a fully inclusive culture.

To be successful in this role you’ll bring a wealth of industry experience including; expert knowledge of organisational development and EDI best practice along with examples of developing co- created learning solutions.

This activity will involve rolling out training solutions to scale and geographical dispersed individuals so you should have excellent communications and interpersonal skills, and be solutions focused. Project management experience would be advantageous for this role.

About You:

Having previously worked within a direct marketing team within the charity sector, you’ll have experience project managing campaigns with external agencies and internal stakeholders utilising a variety of fundraising channels such as digital, email, social media, direct mail, and telemarketing. 

You’ll also have gained experience using Dynamics 365, Raisers Edge or a similar database. 

About The Role

• Lead on the planning and implementation of legacy and in mem fundraising portfolio, managing marketing campaigns from initial brief through to post campaign analysis. 
• Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with in mem supporters and legacy prospects in local communities, with the support of community fundraising managers and local volunteers – keeping these supporters at the heart of your work to to maintain and increase their support through excellent stewardship. 
• Prepare and administer correspondence and relevant paperwork and ensure maintenance for full and accurate database (D365/First Class) records, analysing financial and non-financial data to monitor and improve engagement and customer service performance.
• Proactively keep abreast of competitor activities, new initiatives and sector trends.

Main Role Responsibilities

• To work with the Head of Commercial and Events on the development of the commercial strategy with the support of Trustees, the senior leadership team, members and other staff and stakeholders as necessary. 
• To be responsible for identifying and delivering key income streams, as outlined in the commercial strategy to meet agreed financial targets and KPIs.
• To manage existing and develop new relationships with customers to ensure customer satisfactions whilst achieving and maximising income opportunities. 
• Measure and evaluate the success of the commercial strategy business development and income generation workstreams.
• To represent the NFCC to corporate audiences and at corporate events, delivering pitches and presentations.
• To continually be researching new business opportunities for specific target markets. 
• To develop new corporate partnerships through relationship building.
• To be responsible for the account management of appropriate partnerships and provide the highest level of relationship management.

Hillside Clubhouse is recruiting for a mental health employment specialist to join our dynamic Camden team supporting people with mental health conditions to gain and retain employment.  The role is working within the nationally recognised IPS (Individual Placement and Support) model within an NHS secondary care mental health team based in the heart of Camden.

Who we are: 

Hillside Clubhouse is a co-produced mental health employment support charity working across Camden and Islington. We support people with mental health conditions into training, volunteering, and employment opportunities. People can access our services via our Clubhouse, where they can share their skills and expertise with others and support the running of the charity.  Alternatively, they can receive support out in the community from one of our employment specialists based within primary and secondary care.

The Role: 

The role is within our IPS Service and will be based within a Camden NHS secondary care team. As an IPS Employment Specialist, you’ll play an important role in supporting people with lived mental health experience on their recovery journey by supporting them back into paid employment. This is an opportunity to offer ongoing support, to motivate and provide people with hope, while developing the tools and skills required to recover, ultimately transforming their lives.

A variety of skills are needed in this post including but not limited to -  a strong ability to develop empathy and rapport with clients; a determined approach to seeking out job opportunities; a person centric-approach to working with people; strong communications skills to motivate clients; strong administrative capabilities and an attention to detail engage with prospective employers via business development and face-to-face meetings, and to be able to challenge some perceptions around mental health. 

The postholder will be directly employed by Hillside Clubhouse but work under an Honorary Contract from Camden and Islington Foundation Trust.  They will be managed directly by the IPS Operations Manager but work as team member within the clinical team. The role is dynamic and involves being integrated in a clinical team, working within the community, and we operate a flexible working policy where working from home is also permitted up to two days per week.

Overall aim: 

To enable people with mental health issues to gain and sustain competitive employment by working within the evidence based Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model.

Primary Duties: 

• Manage a caseload of up to twenty clients and work within and apply the 8 principles of IPS in all aspects of role. 
• To work with and enable clients to find work using a mix of conventional approaches and employer engagement. 
• To generate ongoing referrals from the clinical team and to manage those effectively. 
• To engage directly and collaboratively with the clinical team while maintaining the existing multi-disciplinary approach to assisting clients seeking work. 
• To report and meet regularly with clinical team service managers and the IPS Operations manager, and to participate in both casework and clinical supervision from IPS Operations and clinical team services managers.

Duties and key responsibilities

Community fundraising

• Manage and develop regional fundraising by devising a regional community fundraising strategy for income generation.
• Design and develop Sarcoma UK's calendar of annual community fundraising campaigns and events communication, including Cuppa and Cake.
• Introduce fundraising opportunities to our existing and potential supporters through a multi-channelled marketing strategy to grow levels of engagement and participation.
• Identify opportunities and recruit new community fundraisers, fundraising groups, corporate and school partners.
• Work with the Fundraising team to produce regular feedback reports and analysis on specific community products and overall revenue.

Management

General

The Development Manager (Individual Giving) will manage the strategic development of Individual Giving, identifying opportunities to drive growth in this area. The Head of Advocacy and Policy will be responsible for developing an excellent Advice Service and Retention Team to support and advise students effectively to enable excellent student experience and satisfaction.

This role will lead on the development of effective insights, representation and support initiatives/campaigns for students, across our three campuses at Greenwich, Avery Hill and Medway.

This role will enhance work with the diverse student population of the University of Greenwich and lead a dynamic team to ensure students have consistent and accessible services that contribute to positive student experience.

This role sits within the wider Membership Services department, together with other key areas consisting of; Activities, Sport, Academic Communities, Representation and Democracy, we provide a high-quality service for students, that they can shape, steer and be at the heart of.

This postholder will be part of the GSU Senior Leadership Team and will be expected to contribute to department and organisation wide strategic development.

The post holder will:

• Have expert knowledge in areas of in relation to Advice and Retention and policies and legislation relating to such activity
• Support and develop strong student-led communities and campaigns in areas of: Advice, wellbeing and retention so that members can thrive
