We are hiring an Area Manager to provide management and oversight for services which span across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC). Our services provide 154 units of accommodation to people experiencing homelessness and have complex needs. The services are 24 hour supported accommodation sites. You will have the overall responsibility to deliver the highest standards of service quality, performance and improvements across your services through excellent leadership and embodiment of our SIG values.

As the Area Manager, you will lead the team to deliver exemplar Trauma Informed support to our residents and participants. The current team you will directly manage:

• Deputy Manager x 3
• Activities Coordinator x 1
• Resettlement Manager x 1

Rota: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, flexibility required to meet service needs, based across all RBKC services under your area

The in-service leadership team support a team of frontline Support Mentors and Peer Support mentors to deliver dynamic and flexible person centred support aimed at empowering our residents to make and sustain positive change.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Line Management and Leadership

• Provide high quality support, leadership and line management to staff, offer guidance, support, and advice to the team and support them to perform to the best of their abilities.
• Provide leadership and management throughout the full employee lifecycle.
• Hold regular one to ones and team meetings to support effective teamwork and communication. Facilitate a culture where constructive challenge is welcomed.
• Proactively embed a culture of learning, development, reflection, and evaluation in a psychologically informed environment.

Service Delivery

• Manage the overall day-to-day operational delivery of your service, working directly with your team, colleagues, residents and participants, as well as other stakeholders to provide a high-quality, holistic service which meets the needs of our residents.
• Ensure service responsibilities and requirements are carried out effectively. This includes but is not limited to; welfare checks, risk assessments, support sessions, safeguarding checks, training and development, and other responsibilities required for effective service delivery.
• Support the team to carry out their day to day duties and responsibilities, offer guidance and support as necessary. 
• Work proactively to ensure the service and team meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators, and work in line with professional codes of conduct.
• Empower residents and participants to make decisions to take control over their lives, by creating an enabling environment.
• Be part of the operational on-call Rota for providing out-of-hours support across the operations directorate.

Risk Management

• Follow relevant risk assessment and management procedures, share relevant information with others as necessary.
• Ensure all case recording and information is accurately recorded in a timely manner, ensuring confidentiality and GDPR.
• Champion, and act as a point of reference for safeguarding concerns within the service(s). Ensure all staff attend relevant safeguarding and training and use knowledge to coach and advise the team.

Property and Housing Management

• Ensure the accommodation in which residents live is clean and maintained to a high standard
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance issues are correctly reported and managed through to completion.
• Ensure a provision of high quality housing management service is provided to residents. 

Financial Management

• Manage the service budget and review monthly management accounts: Set budgets and ensure resources are maximised.
• Promote effective cost control mechanisms and other financial activities.
• Maintain financial management within the service.

Other

• Some of what else is included: Contract management and Internal auditing, admin, and general other duties as required. 

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. Please refer to the JDPS attached for more information.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours
• Experience of working with and engaging with diverse groups of people from varying backgrounds
• Previous experience in people management and development
• IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software.
• Ability to promote the service and provide outreach-based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders
• Understanding of Housing Management, including voids and evictions

Inter Mediate

Inter Mediate (IM) is a unique and discreet London-based peacemaking organisation established in 2011 to support behind-the-scenes peace negotiations in some of the world’s most challenging conflicts. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the senior management team of a small high-impact organisation working at the leading edge of international peacemaking.

Reporting to the Deputy CEO and working closely with the CEO and the Financial Director, the Operations Director will lead Inter Mediate’s institutional, Human Resources and project-support systems to keep the organisation running smoothly and ensure we are equipped to deliver the best results.

A successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with senior management experience in operations, preferably for a non-profit organisation. You will be familiar with the fast and sometimes unpredictable pace of an international operating environment, and confident in handling challenges as they arise. You will be comfortable working collaboratively within a small team and engaging credibly with a wide range of people from senior government officials to project interlocutors in the field.

Key Responsibilities

A) Governance and Institutional Compliance (with the Deputy CEO and senior management)

• Lead the development and implementation of IM’s operational planning, in coordination with the CEO, Deputy CEO, Finance Director, staff, Trustees and supporters.
• Ensure that Inter Mediate complies with its charitable and legal obligations.
• Prepare, attend and minute Trustee and Committee meetings.
• Develop and implement quality improvement process for institutional policies and project delivery to keep Inter Mediate ethical, efficient and delivering value for money.
• Source, manage and review all professional services and suppliers engaged by Inter Mediate including banking, legal advice, accounting and auditing.

B) Human Resources and Office Operations

• Oversee Inter Mediate’s recruitment process and work with the Deputy CEO to ensure that we have fair procedures for benefits, training, probation, diversity and inclusion, gender pay gap, safeguarding, grievance and disciplinary matters.
• Oversee the contracting and on-boarding for new staff, consultants and trustees.
• Manage day-to-day HR functions and queries, including leave recording systems.
• Conduct staff remuneration and salary benchmarking exercises with the Deputy CEO.
• Update and maintain the employment handbook policies and procedures.
• Oversee office operations, equipment and facilities management.

C) IT, Security and Risk Management

• Ensure that the IT and communications systems are optimally configured for effectiveness and security, and that staff can operate them as necessary.
• Ensure Inter Mediate has robust risk mitigation systems and training for staff.
• Ensure Risk Assessments and security plans are completed by staff prior to staff travel.
• Ensure Inter Mediate has a viable business continuity plan.
• Maintain and review the Risk Register for the organisation with the Deputy CEO.

D) Financial Management (with the Finance Director)

• Work closely with the Finance Director to ensure that operational and financial planning processes and decisions are mutually informed and fully aligned.
• Strategise with the Finance Director and Deputy CEO to ensure all wings of the organisation work together to advance the best interest of the institution, its staff, projects and donors.

Experience, qualifications and skills:

• At least 8 years experience leading charity operations at a senior level spanning institutional compliance, Human Resources, IT, security and project support services, ideally in the non-profit sector.
• Track record of excellent business decisions for institutions under UK charity law operating in an international, multi-donor environment.
• Extensive experience of supporting Boards and Board committees at a senior level in a non-profit context.
• Some knowledge of project support mechanisms required for smooth delivery of peacebuilding, humanitarian, human rights or political projects in high-risk environments.

• Evidence of ability to both lead and service a complex network of external relationships.

• Graduate with a relevant degree and, preferably with relevant post graduate qualifications or relevant experience.

Attributes:

• Strong people management, collaboration and team building skills
• Excellent business planning and decision skills, and a sound understanding of operational and financial management in charities.
• Proven commitment to designing effective and enabling systems for organisation management in support of effective delivery

Working at Inter Mediate

A normal working week consists of 35 hours (or pro rata for part-time). Our office operates between 8am and 6.30pm with core hours from 9.00am to 5.00pm. Inter Mediate operates a hybrid working model, with at least 2 set days per week in the office in London.

This includes providing support to those living with a brain tumour diagnosis, their family and their friends. As part of our services team, you will ensure we engage all groups including those disadvantaged and less heard from, championing the voices of our wider community to grow our involvement network.  You will also collaborate with those professionally committed to the cause, including our research community, to ensure that people affected by brain tumours have the chance to both shape and participate in research opportunities. You will be responsible for measuring and sharing the difference we are making through the delivery and analysis of our Improving Brain Tumour Care Surveys, empowering the community to identify the gaps in treatment and care experiences, so we can make a difference where it matters most.

Key accountabilities:

· Grow the involvement of the community in driving development of The Charity’s work including support, campaigns, fundraising, research and strategy

· Develop the involvement strategy and engage teams across the organisation to maximise the use of involvement

· Promote, advise on, and facilitate involvement activities including but not limited to focus groups, workshops and developing and undertaking surveys

· Collaborate with our Research team, contributing to the design and implementation of policies relating to research involvement

About us

Upbeat Communities was founded in 2005 to support refugees and asylum seekers to rebuild their lives through a whole range of support including training, social activities, befriending and hosting. Upbeat Communities became a registered charity in 2015.

In 2013, Upbeat Communities launched Derby Language School (DLS) which is a social enterprise that provides language courses to individuals and organisations in the East Midlands. Alongside generating considerable income for the charity through its private and corporate classes it also provides quality language training for many refugees through contracts with councils.

In 2021, Upbeat Clean was started in response to significant challenges that refugee women have in finding employment to support their families. Upbeat Clean’s 5-year goal is to be able to offer a Real Living Wage job to every refugee woman who needs one in Derby. Upbeat Clean is fast becoming the most talked about commercial cleaning business in Derby with contracts at key venues like Derby Museums, Getinge, Vaillant, Quad, Deda and large offices across the city.

The two social enterprises (DLS and Upbeat Clean) have grown substantially over the last two years with a combined expected turnover of around £700,000 in 2024/25 and more rapid growth ahead. We have over 30 employed cleaners and 20 freelance teachers and interpreters, with over 40 corporate contracts and 100 private clients.

Main duties and responsibilities

Strategy, Analysis & Development:

 • Continuously focus on balancing fast social enterprises growth while pursuing excellence for our customers.

• Support with the development of the overall business strategy.

• Lead on key business changes.

• Support in the development and implementation of marketing strategies for both enterprises.

Operations:

• Oversee the day-to-day business needs of Upbeat Clean and DLS.

• Lead recruitment and training Upbeat Clean and DLS staff.

• Develop excellent systems and processes for Upbeat Clean and DLS.

• Negotiate new partnerships with businesses in the city.

• Act as key account manager for some of the client contracts in conjunction with the Head of Enterprise (HofE).

• Develop and maintain excellent relationships with client contacts to effectively communicate and resolve queries and issues.

• Regularly visit clients to ensure that our clients are heard and looked after.

• Contribute towards the operational excellence of the team and ensure that all contractual service level agreements are met.

Finance:

• Work with the finance team to forecast income and manage expenditure in line with the agreed budget.

Human Resources:

The Philanthropy and Global Engagement Division serves, engages and works in partnership with alumni and friends, staff and students, volunteers, donors, global partners, organisations and the wider community to further the strategic aims of the School. These reciprocal relationships increase engagement with LSE across the world and increase philanthropic income and strategic partnerships for agreed School priorities.

We are seeking a Philanthropy Proposal Writer, on a one-year fixed appointment to cover maternity leave. You will be responsible for creating persuasive content for use in bespoke proposals for potential donors and funders, most particularly for 7-9 figure opportunities. As well as developing and delivering compelling concept notes and proposals to solicit leadership philanthropic gifts, you will contribute to Campaign content that demonstrates the need for and impact of philanthropy, to help inspire more supporters to invest in and partner with LSE.

You should have exceptional written communication skills with the ability to influence and persuade through use of words, style and tone, an ability to translate complex academic concepts into persuasive content for donors and funders, and confidence in in coordinating activities and people to achieve success.

In this role, you will:

• Manage the existing product portfolio, reviewing the existing offering in relation to market trends, client needs, the competitive landscape and the Charity's strategic goals
• Develop detailed product knowledge across the portfolio of products, leading development activity for each area alongside ongoing assessment of financial performance and product/service viability.
• Recommend and oversee product improvements, using market demand and customer and colleague feedback to identify and prioritise change.
• Working with the Chief Operating Officer and service leads to understand trends and opportunities across the portfolio and associated markets.
• Engage with expert colleagues from across the organisation to understand and support the development of their product ideas, evaluating these against internal and external factors including feasibility, expected value, and market demand.
• Financial and strategic modelling of new product options based on market demand, fit to Picker strategy, impact/income potential, strength of offering and ability to reach target audience.
• Work in partnership with the Chief Operating Officer, Head of Service Delivery, service leads, and the Marketing and Communications Manager to develop marketing plans to support demand generation on a thematic basis, providing expert product knowledge, customer insight and new business leads.

About You

• Demonstrable experiences in product/portfolio lifecycle management.
• Demonstrable experience of managing project timetables, including reviewing progress and amending plans to address changing requirements

Job Description  

This is a great time to join PCR’s Events & Community team as we expand the team off the back of raising over £1.3m (against a target of £800k) in 2023-24. We’ve had a really successful year with good results across our portfolio, so we’re excited to be recruiting a brand-new role to focus on PCR’s bespoke events and finding the successful events of the future! 

We are therefore looking for a proactive team player to join us and lead the innovation and delivery of our programme of PCR-owned fundraising events. This will include our flagship challenge Snowdonia for Science, as well as leading product development of new challenge, community fundraising and special event propositions. The Bespoke Events Manager will also work with colleagues across the organisation to support other strategic and stewardship events.

The position reports to the Head of Events & Community, and will line manage one Events & Community Officer. Collaboration will be a big part of the role, especially with the Virtual & Challenge Events Manager (VCM) who leads our virtual fundraising and third-party challenge events. 

Key Responsibilities 

As Bespoke Events Manager, we would be very keen to work with you to develop and shape this into an exciting and meaningful role for you. We prioritise our team member's development, and there will be a percentage of time available to work on other areas of the portfolio for development and interest. However, your main focus would be;

Project Management 

• Project manage PCR's flagship challenge, Snowdonia For Science. An amazing community event now enering its 16th year and forcast to raise £100k in 2024. This event is well-established but with plenty of room for you to make your mark, grow and improve the event. 
• Project manage new events and community products as they are developed and tested, including end-to-end planning and delivery
• Design and deliver ambitious fundraising budgets for your projects which contribute net income towards PCR's lifesaving mission. 
• Create good relationships with suppliers, venues, agencies and consultants to ensure great value.
• Lead the stewardship of fundraisers taking part in your events, boosting income and using feedback to continually develop positive journeys, experiences and opportunities for supporters 
• Alongside the Head of Events & Community and others, support the development and delivery of other events, including high value fundraising and stewardship events, and plans for a conference style event in collaboration with PCR's Research & Comms and Patient Projects teams. 

Product development and innovation 

• As a key part of the role, you’ll spend a good proportion of your time developing and testing new fundraising propositions, taking a test & learn approach. For this, there are realistic budgets and an understanding of the investment needed to try new ideas. 
• Product development will include special event product testing and at least one new community fundraising product in 2024-25. 
• Maintain a good level of understanding of PCR’s existing (and target) supporters in order to create and implement products and stewardship that motivate and inspire them. 
• Alongside the Head of E&C and the VCM, embed a culture of innovation and supporter insight in the team. 
• Proactively collaborate internally, working with other teams to identify opportunities for new events, activities and stewardship journeys that meet Prostate Cancer Research’s objectives. 

Team leadership 

• Line manage one Events & Community Officer, overseeing their work, guiding them to improve & innovate in their role, and supporting their professional development.
• Work closely with the Head of E&C and the VCM on team strategy, capacity planning and ways of working.
• Alongside the VCM, take a lead role on developing processes and infrastructure across the team including for stewardship, content, data and compliance. 
• Attend and contribute to meetings, sharing new ideas and learnings that might be useful for the wider team.
• Work with the Head of E&C and the VCM to embed and model PCR’s organisational values in the Events. Our values include: innovation, collaboration, accountability and championing the patient voice. 

As with everyone in the Public Fundraising team, the Bespoke Events Manager may also get in involved with other projects and tasks as appropriate to support all our activities.

About the role

Are you an experienced corporate fundraiser with an interest in working in the international development sector? Are you creative, strategic, highly organised, a confident and effective communicator and strong team player? 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager to work closely with the Head of Programme Funding to drive new donor engagement and secure sustainable, multi-year funding. If you are seeking a dynamic and engaging fundraising role which offers you the chance to play a pivotal role within a small but ambitious organisation, then this could be the job for you.

You will be an exemplary relationship builder and have experience in developing multi-faceted corporate partnerships (ideally with experience and success in employee engagement, corporate sponsorship, and/or operational partnerships).

The role also line manages the Senior Fundraising Officer post, a position that provides administrative and fundraising support across the whole fundraising team.  Please note that we are a small team and so you’ll need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to help out team members and to support new business across other restricted income streams.

Caseworker

Forces Employment Charity is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Caseworker to join our team working on the CFO (Co-financing Organisation) programme in partnership with the probation service. In this role, you will provide specialist support to veterans within the criminal justice system, focused on early intervention, support and diversion to prevent re-offending. This is a Full-time 35 hours per week, home based role with regular attendance at Lewisham and Croydon Activity Hubs and frequent travel throughout the UK. This role has a salary £29,000 pa.

This will be a fixed term contract till 31 July 2024.

​Role Overview:

​

For the CFO programme, Forces Employment Charity is working in partnership with probation service staff and other partner organisations to provide specialist support for veterans in the justice system.This support is focused on early intervention, support and diversion at point of contact with justice system in order to prevent re-offending.

The successful applicant will be providing activities and support to clients within a formal contractual framework working to challenging targets.The role holder will need a strong beneficiary focus and the ability to rapidly form relationships with partners and local agencies.

​Key Responsibilities:

​

• Work with partners to identify and engage veterans with the CFO Programme.
• Undertake needs assessments with each veteran and jointly develop their support plan.
• Work as part of a team, together with Probation Service Staff and Lead Provider staff, was well as partner organisations providing specialist support.
• Deliver emotional and practical support to veterans working with partner organisations to provide specialist support for each individual as required.
• Work with the veteran to secure employment.
• Optimise the delivery of activities which are separately billed as part of CFO Programme.
• Ensure that all activity is recorded on the MOJ CATs system, or other system as required by the contract.
• Deliver any further activities reasonably required by the Op Nova National Manager or CFO Contract Manager, the Nova National Manager and the Forces Employment Charity.

• Understanding, empathy and knowledge of ex-forces personnel and the challenges they may face.
• Highly motivated and independent, capable of working remotely from their line manager.
• Resilient and able to work with individuals with complex needs and cope with the rigors that arise from working with veterans in the criminal justice system.
• Commitment to working with each veteran without prejudice and in an equitable manner, including those who are arrested for violent or sexual offences.
• Experience of working with people using a mentoring or coaching approach to engage and support the individuals we work with change their lives.
• Experience of working with others as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent communication, organisation and IT/CRM skills.
• Excellent team players who will contribute to a diverse and dedicated team.
• Driving licence and use of own car.

Security Clearance

​

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (Enhanced) check and Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) Level 2 security clearance.
