APB exists to support Religious Order Bursars (and others) involved in the management of their charities. A vacancy in the post of General Secretary will arise later this year due to the retirement of the current post holder.

The General Secretary is responsible for the day-to-day administration and management of the Association which has over 200 members. The General Secretary ensures the APB website is kept up to date and useful resources are available to support members in their work. Each year an annual conference is held over either 3 or 4 days, and the General Secretary is responsible for the organisation of this. 

This is a home-based position that will require attendance at in person meetings from time to time and at the 3 or 4-day annual conference each October.

The post holder will need to be flexible and have a good knowledge of Microsoft office including excel, good administrative skills and an approachable manner as the key link for members. General knowledge of finance and accounts would be an advantage.

MAIN DUTIES: 

1. Monitoring and processing bank, petty cash and credit card transactions

onto the accounting software (Quickbooks).

2. Management of bank and petty cash and credit card reconciliations.

3. Responsibility for the purchase ledger function, ensuring all expenditure

is correctly recorded onto the accounting software, supplier queries are

adequately dealt with, purchase orders raised where relevant and

payments processed promptly.

recorded onto the accounting software, sales invoices raised, sent, with

reminders where necessary and donor income records are updated and

maintained.

5. Updating of database OASIS system, reporting and assistance with

controlling of refuge income (rent) and debtors (housing benefit charge).

6. Assist with recording, processing and reporting of client recharges,

including liaising with our partners for timely payments and

reimbursements. 

7. Support coordination of cash banking and petty cash processing for all

sites.

8. Obtain relevant authorisation for financial transactions.

9. Monitor shared and personal finance inboxes daily, responding to queries

in a timely fashion.

10. Assist with the provision of information and preparation of reports for

internal and external clients.

11. Support with implementation of new finance operational and

administrative systems.

12. General filing and administrative tasks.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

Our family women refuge's offer holistic support in order to empower women and their children who have experienced trauma to lead their recovery and gain the skills and confidence to move on safely. The Team Manager is responsible for the operational running and strategic direction of the refuge. Providing line management and leadership to the staff team, leading on contract and compliance and the safety, security and maintenance of the refuge, ensuring that the building aligns with our PIPE (Psychologically Informed Physical Environment) building standards and rental income is secured. 

The Team Manager plays a central role in ensuring the refuge is a safe, trauma-informed, and welcoming space for women and children fleeing domestic abuse. They promote an inclusive, anti-racist, and feminist approach while upholding Hestia's values of respect, dedication, and collaboration. Core responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day service delivery, ensuring compliance with safeguarding protocols, and facilitating the safe transition of service users. The manager ensures the team delivers high-quality, person-centred support, particularly for individuals with complex or intersectional needs.

In terms of operational and building management, the Team Manager is responsible for maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the refuge in line with health and safety and PIPE (Psychologically Informed Physical Environment) standards. This includes managing relationships with landlords and housing teams, authorising repairs, handling rent collection and arrears, and addressing any security concerns. They also oversee the accurate and timely turnaround of vacant units and uphold positive community relations to ensure the refuge remains a secure and respected environment.

The role also involves leading and developing a high-performing team, ensuring all staff are well-supported through supervision, reflective practice, and training opportunities. The manager upholds staffing levels, supports volunteers and students, and manages performance and conduct issues where necessary. Quality assurance and compliance duties include monitoring performance against KPIs, using systems like INFORM and Power BI, handling feedback and complaints, and ensuring financial accountability. They also represent Hestia in strategic planning, external networks, and multi-agency partnerships to strengthen service delivery and community integration.

Here's what the team will be looking for

The ideal candidate should possess a solid general education, ideally with Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. They must understand and value co-production, ensuring services are developed in partnership with those who use them. A clear understanding of safeguarding practices and health and safety legislation is crucial, with the ability to implement relevant policies effectively.

The role demands emotional resilience and the ability to work under pressure, especially in crisis situations involving traumatised or vulnerable women and children. This role focuses on the visitor facing side of ticketing operations. Ticketing set up and revenue management is not part of the remit, and is led by a separate senior manager, who this person will work closely with.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Head of Visitor Experience and Ticketing to inspire, motivate and manage the Ticketing Operations team to deliver a responsive, dynamic and vibrant visitor experience. 
• Support the overall Visitor Experience and Ticketing Strategy by monitoring, managing and improving performance of the whole Visitor Experience and Ticketing team. 
• Lead on the analysis and response to visitor feedback. 
• Lead on projects prioritised by the Head of Visitor Experience and Ticketing. 
• Work with all Southbank Centre departments and partners to improve the quality and consistency of the Southbank Centre Visitor Experience and Ticketing operation.

We are seeking a highly efficient, collaborative professional with a keen eye for detail to work closely with the CEO in a supporting role. This role will be critical to the functioning and effective governance of the organisation, providing a broad range of support as required. Tasks will be varied and will involve both supporting our frontline functions and assisting with back-office admin, ranging from providing a compassionate response to people dropping into our office for support or dealing with telephone queries from vulnerable migrants, to processing invoices and assisting in the drafting of fundraising applications.

This is a new post to support efficient administration at HMC, ensuring the smooth running of HMC’s office and providing essential support to the CEO.

We are a busy team supporting a large number of vulnerable people and working hard to deliver impactful services in a challenging external environment. In a small team with limited resources, we all wear multiple hats and this will be a varied and busy role juggling tasks across multiple areas.

ABOUT THE GOLDSMITHS’ FOUNDATION

The Goldsmiths’ Foundation is the charitable foundation of the Goldsmiths’ Company. The Foundation’s mission is to transform life-chances by supporting technical and vocational education through grant-making. With a focus on goldsmithing, silversmithing, jewellery and allied trades, it also supports skills and training in the creative industries and other fields, as well as general charitable endeavours.

A contemporary company with deep roots in the past, the Goldsmiths’ Company is one of the Great Twelve City of London Livery Companies. Founded in 1327 and now with a 1600-strong membership, the Company has contributed to national life for seven centuries. It advances the trade and craft of silversmithing and jewellery through training, exhibitions and public engagement. Job Purpose  

Working in a team of three and reporting to the Foundation Director, you will support the effective and efficient grant making of the Goldsmiths' Foundation by managing its Proactive Grant Programmes and administering the Foundation's restricted funds. Proactive grants are closed to open application but are solicited for either regular or one-off grants. This role requires a strong understanding of vocational and technical skills in the jewellery-making, silversmithing and allied trade sector. 

Delivery of Proactive Grant Programmes 

• Support the Foundation Director and colleagues to implement and deliver Proactive Grants Programmes, aligned with the 2025-2030 Strategy. 

• Support the Foundation Director in implementing learning goals for the Programmes, collecting data and working with commissioned learning partners. 

• Manage relationships with charitable partners who regularly receive grants from the Foundation, particularly those working in the jewellery, silversmithing and allied trade sectors. 

• Manage one-off grants that are solicited by Foundation Trustees due to their strong alignment to Foundation Objects. 

• Support The Goldsmiths' Foundation Trustees and Advisory Group and administering its decisions. 

Management of Restricted Funds 

• Administer the Foundation's restricted funds including the Aiden Threlfall Charitable Trust, the Brian Wood Memorial Travel Scholarship, the Miller Fund/Binney Medal (including event administration of the annual Binney Lunch), the Martin Bowes Charitable Fund and The Silver Trust. 

• Manage grant applications and awards from these restricted funds in accordance with their specific terms and conditions. 

• Maintain accurate records and reporting on restricted fund activities. 

• Ensure compliance with donor requirements and legal obligations for each restricted fund. 

Management and Governance of Proactive Grant Programmes 

• Day-to-day management of regular grantees, ensuring effective communication and support. 

• Support the development of appropriate reporting and relationship requirements with regular grantees. 

• Prepare recommendations and reports for the Proactive Grant Programmes. 

• Manage and collate the reporting from charitable partners. 

• Prepare materials to support the Foundation Director in their work with The Goldsmiths' Foundation Trustees and Advisory Group with a goal to: i. commission the most relevant grants to meet the Foundations' Objects ii. drive greater Goldsmiths' Company Member engagement with The Goldsmiths' Foundation 

• Support the continued management of existing Proactive Programmes initiated before 2026. 

Communications and Networks 

• Support the Foundation Director to maintain a network of peer funders working in overlapping or related areas, particularly those focused on vocational and technical skills development.

• Contribute to collaborations (including with other funders) to increase the reach and impact of our proactive grant making.

• Support the development of content for web-based stories and social media posts. 

Community Engagement 

• Work with colleagues to identify opportunities for grant recipients to contribute to broader programmes and the promotion of charitable activities.

• Support the identification and development of initiatives that enable the Foundation to deliver against its charitable purpose, particularly those supporting vocational and technical skills in the jewellery-making, silversmithing and allied trade sector. 

• Contribute to developing opportunities related to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, focusing on access routes into the trade and craft. 

Other Duties 

• Work with colleagues within The Goldsmiths' Group as required to enable our mutual aims. 

• Work with the Foundation Director and colleagues to develop The Foundation's culture in line with its values. 

• Support other parts of The Foundation's grant making as required, including our Open Grants Programmes at times and any other duties as the Director requires. 

Person Specification 

Essential Experience  

• Understanding of vocational and technical skills development in the jewellery-making, silversmithing and allied trade sector

• Experience of working with or supporting charities and grant recipients

• Experience of preparing reports and recommendations for committees or senior stakeholders

Desirable Experience  

• Experience of grant making or charitable funding administration, managing grant case loads and maintaining accurate records

• Experience of relationship-based grant making and stakeholder engagement

• Experience of administering restricted or designated funds

• Experience of trust-based grant making

• Experience of collaborative funding and partnership development

• Experience of Beacon CRM or other grant making database or similar database management systems

• Knowledge of relevant research, policy and networks related to the development of vocational and technical skills in the jewellery and silversmithing sectors.

• Awareness of evaluation methodologies for funded work. 

• Willingness to adopt and utilise AI tools to support grant management, research, and reporting, and an openness to exploring how emerging technologies can enhance the Foundation's work.
