We are looking for an experienced Media and PR Manager to join our dynamic Marketing and Communications team. The successful candidate will have developed a strong news sense, either as a journalist or from working in a media engagement role within a broader communications team. About this role

Over the past two years, SPANA has made significant investments in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), culminating in the establishment of an independent MEAL team within the Global Programmes Directorate. Led by the Head of Data Insight and MEAL, this team works collaboratively with the Programme Quality and Development, Animal Health and Welfare and Education, Community Education and SBCC teams to strengthen evidence-based programming and impact measurement.

The MEAL Manager plays a central role in advancing SPANA’s MEAL systems, providing technical expertise and support to SPANA UK staff and over 20 global partners. The role contributes to the design and implementation of MEAL frameworks that effectively measure the organisation’s impact on the health and welfare of working animals. Contract, location and salary

This is a full-time (34.5 hours per week), permanent role. This role is UK based, hybrid working with regular attendance (approximately 1-2 days per month, or more if preferred) in our London office. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK currently and for the duration of the contract.

Job Purpose
The Head of Community will work with the Director of Services on strategic and operational planning and provide operational leadership for the range of Community services delivered by Age UK East London.

The purpose of this role is to:

• Take responsibility for the delivery of Age UK East London’s Community Service offer, ensuring its delivery requirements are met and we are responsive to new opportunities.
• Ensure that older people who are supported by the Community team also benefit from the range of AUKEL services and those provided by other local partners.
• Be an active member of our SLT, working with senior leaders across AUKEL, contributing your experience and expertise to problem solve, spot and develop opportunities as well as make an impact on our overall organisational development
journey.
• Build responsive and accountable relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including commissioners, partner providers, senior health and social care professionals.
• Motivate and inspire a frontline staff and volunteer team, using excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of key issues affecting older people.
• Ensure the services are meeting all KPI’s for quality and delivery, overseeing data management and analysis to ensure compliance and insight that supports future development and demonstration of impact, taking a continuous improvement

What we're looking for

We are looking for a talented Bookkeeper to maintain our financial records and handle financial operations in the charity.

Core duties include processing all routing transactions encompassing supplier invoices, sales invoices, bank transactions, petty cash, credit cards and treasury management. You will also make payments, prepare our in-house payroll and submit pension returns. 

You will work closely with our Finance Director to support the month end close while complying with and upholding the Charity’s policies and procedures. 

 Our ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, ideally have worked for a charity and be familiar with Xero. You will also have at least one of the following: 

• A relevant qualification such as an accountancy or business degree
• Part or fully qualified with an accountancy body, such as the AAT
• Demonstrative qualification by experience.

Responsibilities

Process all financial transactions in our finance IMS (Xero) accurately and promptly encompassing: 

• Accounts payable 
• Employee and volunteer expense claims 
• Sales invoices, grants, donations and other income 
• Bank transactions 
• Petty cash 
• Credit cards
• Download bank records into the IMS and reconcile all bank accounts 
• Monitor savings and move funds between accounts ensuring that we comply with our investment policy 
• Operate credit control on the sales ledger and issue payment receipts to customers and donors 
• Make payments to creditors and settle expense claims 
• Prepare payroll to draft status, pay staff and HMRC, report pension contributions 
• Electronically store all required records in line with statutory requirements 
• Update contacts and restricted fund profiles in the finance IMS

About the role

Working closely with teams across Finance, you’ll develop the management accounting function, reporting and analysing financial information across the organisation. 

You’ll drive improvements in our financial and reporting processes, using data and digital tools to boost efficiency and effectiveness, delivering accurate and insightful reporting and analysis that drives data informed decisions. 

What you’ll do

• Develop a management accountant function, instilling best practice, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Develop a suite of reporting tools for organisational insight and analysis through  trends analysis, variance analysis, modelling, and scenario planning and ad hoc reporting. 
• Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of monthly management accounts, whilst supporting business partners with key organisational trends and analytical variances.
•  Lead the production and consolidation of budgeting and forecasting templates  and reporting tools to aid organisational analysis and planning. Alongside assisting with the delivery of our annual accounts

What you'll bring

• CCAB recognised professional accounting qualification.
• Demonstrable experience in management accounting and financial planning & analysis. 
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail. 
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, especially with non-finance colleagues. 
• Strong technical skills and familiarity with charity financial regulations is essential,  SORP is desirable. In particular you will bring demonstrable experience of active management of restricted and designated funds as part of robust financial management.
