Sydenham Garden is seeking to appoint a Grants, Trusts and Statutory Fundraising Lead for two days per week on a fixed term contract for two years. They will join our team of 14 staff and 70 volunteers supporting people living with mental ill-health and dementia in south-east London. 

Position:  Grants, Trusts and Statutory Fundraising Lead

Our Organisation 

Sydenham Garden, based in Lewisham in South-East London, is a special, unique and beloved wellbeing centre utilising its gardens, nature reserve and activity rooms to help people living with and recovering from mental and physical ill-health. We were established in 2002 and will celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2027. We provide nature and arts based creative, social and therapeutic activities for co-workers (the name we give our primary beneficiaries). People are referred to us from community organisations and health professionals and we use an integrative approach where those with different degrees of mental and physical ill health come together with volunteers from the local community to reduce social exclusion and prejudice. Each year we work with on average over 250 co-workers and over 70 volunteers.

You’ll have experience in building relationships with a range of Trusts, Foundations and statutory funders, drafting compelling funding proposals and demonstrating impact through high-quality reports. You’ll have excellent communication and people skills and feel comfortable both thinking strategically and managing competing priorities day-to-day. Most importantly, you’ll thrive in a small team working to make a big impact for people living with mental ill-health and dementia.

Job Summary

We’re looking for an ambitious and energetic Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer to join our small but mighty Partnerships and Philanthropy fundraising team. Key Responsibilities

Expedition advisory support

Participate in the provision of advice and support to Society grant recipients and other expedition teams and individuals across their project lifecycles.

Training, events and content

Work with colleagues and external trainers to develop and organise needs-based training opportunities, primarily for Society grant recipients and other supported individuals and teams, across a range of subjects.

Governance and reporting

Fundraising Leadership Structure

Clinical

1. Accept referrals in line with agreed service protocols.

2. Conduct assessments and deliver therapy via telephone, video consultation and face-to-face appointments.

4. Assess suitability of referrals in accordance with departmental protocols and refer clients to alternative services where appropriate.

7. Promote access to psychological therapies within peripheral settings. 9. Plan and coordinate appropriate packages of care, communicating effectively with internal and external professionals to support continuity and transfer of care where required.

10. Undertake risk assessments, develop risk management plans, and initiate appropriate action when indicated, including referrals to secondary care and safeguarding services.

11. Collect and record outcome data using the TALKING THERAPIES IAPTUS system, ensuring accurate documentation of clinical contacts, records, and care pathway progression.

12. Ensure care is delivered within the stepped care framework in use within the service.

13. Adhere to the service operations manual and relevant policies and procedures.

14. Take proactive responsibility for meeting agreed clinical activity targets, including therapy contact hours.

15. Contribute to clinical governance processes within your area of practice under the supervision of a Senior Therapist.

16. Develop a specialist clinical interest area (e.g. PTSD, OCD, Long-Term Health Conditions, Perinatal Mental Health, Eating Disorders, Social Anxiety). Specialist focus may evolve in line with service needs and continuing professional development.

17. Participate in clinical audit activities, including analysing service user feedback and presenting findings verbally and in writing.

Training and Supervision

1. Attend regular clinical supervision (individual and/or group) within the service.

2. Participate in peer supervision.

3. Actively engage in continuing professional development (CPD), including effective use of supervision.

4. Attend and complete all required Talking Therapies-approved workshops and training relevant to professional objectives.

5. Contribute to peer learning through journal clubs and in-house CPD events.

6. Provide supervision to other staff where appropriate, following completion of relevant training and experience.

Professional

1. Maintain client confidentiality at all times.

2. Liaise effectively with colleagues across Mind in Bexley and other relevant teams.

3. Contribute to public and professional education programmes under the supervision of senior clinicians.

4. Deliver psychoeducational sessions within a CBT framework to groups of service users under supervision.

5. Take responsibility for the clinical governance of your own professional practice.

6. Attend supervision, case management, and line management meetings regularly, actively participating in objective setting and performance reviews.

About the Role

You will:

Effectively manage and provide a pro-active, high quality frontline service to male victims of domestic abuse. You will work within a multi-agency framework consisting of MARAC and multi-agency partners when required. This role requires a specialist understanding of the barriers faced by male victims of domestic abuse and harmful practices. We particularly welcome applicants who are male, as they are under-represented in the provision of support to domestic abuse victim survivors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively manage and develop a high quality, innovative and pro-active domestic abuse service for victims and their children, including those at highest risk
• Ensure that the service prioritises the safety, security and dignity of service users and their children
• Be the lead in crisis situations and provide advice and guidance on safeguarding issues and information sharing concerns.
• The role will work collaboratively with the Management team, in order to achieve the implementation of the business plan and the development of the service to maximise positive outcomes for clients.
• Manage a small team, conducting supervision and case reviews to ensure safe practice.
• Carry a caseload, supporting male domestic abuse victim/survivors to increase their safety.
• Develop relationships with partner agencies in this area.

About You:
Ideally, you will have knowledge of migration and asylum routes and the procedures for applying for refugee/asylum status in the UK, legal remedies for domestic abuse victims and have experience of working with housing, homelessness, drug, alcohol, mental health issues and have an understanding of the benefit system.

You will need:

• Experience of supporting people in vulnerable situations, having worked with victims of domestic violence & abuse.
• Knowledge of safeguarding issues, legal responsibilities and GDPR & data protection regulations.
• Have strong crisis management skills to support staff dealing with stressful and difficult situations
• Experience of managing a team delivering front line support to victims or domestic abuse or vulnerable people to a high standard
• A passion for working with male victim/survivors
• Experience of working with housing agencies or in a housing setting is advantageous

The Role

You will play an important role in telling the story of the charity’s impact and helping more care workers, supporters and partners connect with our work. 

Events will be a central part of the role. You will coordinate and deliver a varied programme of activities including fundraising events, sector conferences, networking opportunities and national campaigns such as Professional Care Workers’ Week. You will be confident managing event logistics, working with venues and suppliers, coordinating speakers and partners, and ensuring events are well organised and professionally delivered. About the role

This Debt Advice Case Manager role combines both technical and pastoral elements. It will involve building a client case, untangling sometimes complex situations, liaising with creditors, providing guidance for volunteers, and discerning and communicating the appropriate choices and strategies for the client. You will also need to lead client appointments and support clients through what at times can be emotionally difficult situations. Ideally, we are looking for someone with prior debt advice experience, and who has experience of working with vulnerable clients and supporting volunteers. However, we will also consider employing someone as a trainee Debt Advice Case Manager if they are able to demonstrate that they possess the skills, maturity, and determination to become proficient in this role.

• 3-5 days per week
• Two roles available, one in the Hammersmith area, and one in the Kensington area
• Being available onsite is an important aspect of this role and so this role is hybrid with around 60% of your time in one of our branches and 40% remote. The exact split between remote/onsite working will be by agreement with the line manager and to meet the needs of the service which could change over time. Job Title: Fundraising Manager

Location: Mostly home-working with regular visits to The Avenues, London W10.

Job purpose

· Forward-plan funding streams to ensure a smooth and regular flow of income that meets The Avenues’ budget (currently £1.2m p.a., much of which has been secured for the next 18 months).

· Develop existing and new relationships with funders to maximise immediate and long-term income for the organisation and its various projects.

· Write compelling proposals and applications that secure significant income from trusts and foundations, coordinating input from across The Avenues team.

· Research and identify new prospects from a diversity of sources with a view to securing medium and large grants for The Avenues.

Accountabilities and responsibilities

·  Identify and develop opportunities from a range of trusts, foundations and grant-making bodies.

· Draft, submit and manage the progress of all funding applications for The Avenues’ priority projects (approximately 30-40 applications per year).

· Develop fundraising proposal budgets in collaboration with Programme and Finance colleagues, ensuring needs are accurately costed and aligned with donor requirements.

· Work with colleagues to develop new project ideas that fit within The Avenues’ organisational goals and within budgets that meet funders’ criteria.

·  Handle the post-grant paperwork, notifying the team and updating our records.

· Develop and manage positive relationships with funders, including necessary communications with grants officers, potential major donors, corporate donors and community supporters.

· Manage the pipeline of applications and fundraising database; providing financial reporting and other management information to colleagues on a timely basis.

· Work with the Chief Executive, trustees and community volunteers to help organise our fundraising events (dinner-auction, party, quiz night, marathon). Assisting with the smooth-running of these events, including writing and producing communication materials.

·  Write the quarterly email newsletter for our supporter mailing list.

· Manage and optimise the charity’s CRM system (Beacon), ensuring fundraising contact data is accurate, well maintained, and used effectively.

· Perform other duties as required by the Chief Executive to the overall direction and running of the charity and develop productive relationships with external stakeholders.

Experience and skills

·  Excellent writing skills with the ability to write concise and creative bids.

· 3+ years’ proven track record in a fundraising position, with a focus on trusts/foundations and public sector income streams.  (Or, you may equally have experience in sales and marketing in a commercial environment.)

·  Skilled at budgeting and presenting financial information in easy-to-understand formats.

·  Relationship builder and collaborative worker.

·  A creative and proactive approach to problem-solving
