Refugee Resettlement Support Worker

Help refugee families build safe, stable and hopeful futures

Location:

• Based in Bournemouth
• Regular travel across BCP and Dorset
• Hybrid working available when not attending visits, meetings or appointments

Hours:

• 37.5 hours per week
• Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm

Salary: £26,796.90 per annum

We're looking for a compassionate, proactive and organised Refugee Resettlement Support Worker to join our Resettlement Team and support individuals and families arriving through Government resettlement schemes. The role is predominantly focused on families resettled from Afghanistan, although support may be provided to people arriving through other schemes as well.

What you'll be doing

You'll work directly alongside refugee families as they settle into life in Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and wider Dorset, helping them navigate unfamiliar systems, access services and become active members of their new communities.

Your work will include:

• Supporting individuals and families with housing, utilities and practical day-to-day needs
• Helping people access healthcare, education, benefits and other key services
• Supporting access to ESOL classes, volunteering and employment opportunities
• Accompanying people to appointments and meetings when needed
• Helping families build confidence, independence and connections within their local communities

· Working closely with local authorities, schools, health professionals, volunteers and other partners

· Maintaining accurate records and case notes

· Assisting with the preparation of homes prior to new arrivals moving in

No two days are the same. One day you might be helping a family register with a GP, supporting a parent at a school meeting, or helping someone navigate the benefits system. The next, you could be preparing a property for a newly arrived family or working with local partners to ensure the right support is in place.

Who we're looking for

You'll thrive in this role if you:

• Have experience supporting vulnerable individuals or families
• Are compassionate, practical and solution-focused
• Can build positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
• Are confident working independently and managing your own caseload
• Have strong organisational and administrative skills
• Are able to maintain professional boundaries while working in a supportive and person-centred way
• Have excellent communication skills
• Are comfortable working collaboratively with a range of agencies and professionals
• Share our commitment to supporting refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants
• Are supportive of ICN's Christian ethos and values

Experience of working with refugees, asylum seekers, local authorities or resettlement programmes would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Essential requirements

· Full UK driving licence

· Own reliable vehicle

· Confidence driving across BCP and Dorset

· Willingness to obtain and maintain appropriate business insurance

· Eligibility to work in the UK

· Ability to obtain an Enhanced DBS check
