We’re looking for a well-organised and outgoing individual with experience of working within projects teams in a fundraising, events or marketing environment join us as a Community Fundraising Coordinator and help us develop our fundraising offering.

A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change — with individuals, in communities, across society – and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

Part of our hugely successful Income Generation division, Shelter’s Community Fundraising team is a new and, currently, small team but with big plans to grow our numbers to have Regional Fundraisers in 12 cities across England and Scotland. Community Fundraising is a key part of Shelter’s long-term fundraising strategy and investment is being made available to fund it. We have recently appointed a new Head of Community Fundraising and are now seeking to expand our team – it’s a great time to join us.

At Shelter we are committed to tackling systematic inequalities and currently we are looking to increase the diversity within our Fundraising team. We would particularly welcome applications from anyone with a BAME background or considers themselves to have a disability.

About the role
As part of our Community Fundraising National Relationships team, you’ll be responsible for helping to develop and deliver new and existing mass activity products and stewarding supporters. Assisting with the evaluation and reporting of those products will be important too, as will creating and designing materials such as posters, fundraising packs etc. And, when we need someone to help develop, write and review Community Fundraising procedures or ensure databases and evaluations are accurate and up-to-date and income is coded correctly, again, we’ll count on you.

About you
As well as a proven relevant background, you’ll need experience of using databases. (we use Raisers Edge) and proficiency using Microsoft Office applications. Commercially aware, customer focused and creative, you’re great at starting and building relationships and have the communication skills to effectively tell the story of why people should support Shelter’s fight to end homelessness and bad housing. What’s more, you’re not afraid to challenge the status quo and try new ideas when appropriate.

Benefits
We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
