The Role

As Global Head of Finance, you will lead a small, dedicated international team, overseeing strategic financial planning, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across UK and US entities.

You’ll play a key role on the Fund’s management team, ensuring financial integrity, promoting sustainable growth, and partnering across functions to embed strong financial practices organisation-wide.

This is both a strategic and hands-on role, offering the opportunity to guide long-term financial direction while staying closely connected to day-to-day operations and people.

Duties include, but aren’t limited to:

• Financial planning, reporting and strategy: managing annual budget cycle, produce monthly, quarterly and annual finance reports.
• Compliance, Audit and Risk Management: Oversee annual audits for both US and UK entities, support compliance checks and procurement systems meet organisational and donor requirements.
• Investment, Treasury and External Relations: Monitor and management investment and cash accounts across both the US and UK – optimising returns. Managing external banking, investment and lease negotiations, managing annual vendor negotiations and renewals globally.
• Systems optimisation and process improvement.
• Team leadership: Lead and support the finance team, reviewing outputs, resolving issues to support high performance. Oversee financial training to all budget holders to maintain financial literacy and accountability across the organisation.

Essential experience

The successful candidate will possess blends of technical financial expertise with operational leadership with a continuous commitment to purpose-driven work. You will have:

• Professional financial qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Senior-level finance experience in an international charity or NGO sector.
• Strong familiarity with both UK SORP and US GAAP.
• Proven extensive knowledge of strategic financial leadership.
• Experience supporting grant management and donor reporting.

Centre 404 is seeking a dynamic and organised Short Breaks and Family Engagement Manager to lead the development and delivery of engaging activities, workshops, and support services for children and young people with disabilities and their families. Based in North London, this role involves coordinating short breaks and family engagement activities across boroughs including Islington, Camden, Tower Hamlets, Haringey, and Enfield, in line with local authority contracts and community needs.

This is a varied and fast-paced role for an outstanding EU Communications Officer with a proven track record of securing high-level media coverage for environmental campaigns and delivering policy impact. We are looking for someone with a passion for our work and the drive, experience and skills to build our audiences, raise the profile of our campaigns and get our perspectives in front of key decision-makers.

This role would suit someone with strong experience in journalism or working in a press office, with a passion for placing impactful stories which drive real-world progress for a more sustainable planet.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement integrated communication plans and campaigns to support EJF’s policy work in the EU

• Ensure impactful and consistent coverage of our campaigns, and the issues they cover, in high-profile media outlets

• Prepare press releases and media packs for report launches and external developments, ensuring both proactive and reactive coverage

• Respond swiftly to media enquiries

• Research and actively engage media contacts and outlets, remotely and in person, to increase EJF’s reach, building a database to record and evaluate this outreach

• Work with our communications team around the world to develop coordinated media strategies across geographies and languages

• Evaluate and report on our press performance, making recommendations for ongoing improvement

• Create engaging and impactful content for our various communication channels, including our website, social media, newsletters, and other relevant platforms. This includes writing op-eds and blog articles on core EJF campaign areas

Essential skills and attributes

• Professional fluency (including excellent writing and editing skills) in English and either French or Spanish

• At least 3 years of experience working in communications, a press office, journalism or similar, with a particular focus on high-level traditional media outlets

• Knowledge of media relations, developing communication materials, writing content for different channels and developing social media campaigns

• Experience of and confidence in dealing with journalists from different types of media to ensure effective coverage

• An effective knowledge of the media outlets read by political decision-makers in the EU, and how to place articles in them

• Excellent copywriting skills, including under time pressure, and the ability to identify a good story, linking current affairs to EJF campaigns

About the role

Supporting the Senior Finance Manager and Director of Finance and IT, the Interim Finance Manager will oversee the month-end processes, balance sheet and income reconciliations, VAT returns, and budgeting and reforecasting process. Supporting the UK Finance teams, this role will consolidate management accounts and budgets at group level and provide support and analysis to help decision-making.

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to help us realise our plans to secure a menu of commercial contracts that all of our 175+ member library services can choose to benefit from, according to the skills and assets of their service, their focus and strategy and of course the needs of their communities.

Our Commercial Team

Currently we hold a single commercial contract worth around £3m per year delivered through 12 libraries. Our aim is to reach a point where we have a menu of commercial contracts that all of our 175+ member library services can choose to benefit from according to the skills and assets of their service, their focus and strategy and of course the needs of their communities.

In the current funding climate for local authorities and local government services, these contracts are not just about the income and the services they can provide, but about demonstrating nationally the power of the library sector, and how national services can be delivered locally through library services and the communities they serve.

This is a long term aim of ours – we are seeking to build the commercial team with this role and while it is initially a 12 month contract, our hope is that with the role in place we can generate the income to sustain and build on it.

• Support the delivery of commercial projects across the library sector
• Lead the bidding process for new contracts and services
• Manage the mobilisation and setup of contracts and services
