This role offers the opportunity to be part of a successful national remote service, offering support via the phone or Zoom to affected adults in the UK. We are looking to recruit experienced Family Support professionals to provide these virtual support sessions to individual family members and sometimes groups. We are offering a number of roles at 15-20 hours per week, across 3-5 days, including Wednesday and at least 2 evenings per week (Mon-Wed).

Experience in supporting family members affected by someone else’s substance use is essential, as is experience with assessing and managing risk. Ideally, you would also have experience of working to support parents with their parenting and / or those experiencing domestic abuse. We offer fixed hours part time contracts within a friendly and supportive team. Whilst based at home and requiring the ability to work autonomously, Adfam prides ourselves on our supportive team ethos and working culture. 

• Salary: £30,000 pro rata

Responsibilities of our Cat Scientist - Emerging Welfare Technology 

• Support the development, validation, and practical application of feline welfare data collection tools.

About the Research team: 

• The Feline Welfare Research Team are a small but growing team of six scientists, who sit within the wider Cat Welfare department. The team supports the organisation in improving our understanding of feline welfare both on a population and individual basis across a range of disciplines including epidemiology, demography and welfare assessment. 

• The team are responsible for providing the charity with scientific expertise.

• Extensive experience undertaking non-invasive animal behaviour and welfare studies, including first-author publications.

The Head Gardener role offers a unique opportunity to work in a historic and peaceful environment. The Head Gardener has overall responsibility for the presentation, management, maintenance, upkeep and agreed development of Bishopthorpe Palace Gardens and line management of the garden staff engaged as employees and volunteers.

The person appointed will relate directly to the Archbishop, Chief of Staff, Palace and Events Manager and Palace Warden. Working closely with the Assistant Gardener, casual staff and volunteers working in the grounds.

MAIN DUTIES

Responsible for the maintenance and management of the grounds of Bishopthorpe Palace, ensuring that the appearance of the entire garden site is kept to the best standard at all times including:

• Planning and balance of year-round needs of garden/estate.
• Designing the winter and summer annual bedding and arranging the
  purchase and cultivation of the plants.
• Maintaining paths, perimeter and riverbank vegetation
• Hands-on weeding, pruning, dead-heading, plant division and replanting
  where necessary throughout the grounds.
• Directing and assisting in the care, cultivation and maintenance of all
  plants, seasonal planting, borders, shrubs, trees, lawns and ponds.
• Management of wildlife in the grounds.
• Management of the pond.
• Planting of seeds and bulbs and caring for them during the winter.
• Ensure the safety of paths and the grounds during the winter, including
  clearing snow and salting paths
• Hands-on working with the garden team to achieve autumn leaf clearance
  and appropriate disposal.
• Hands-on working with the garden team to ensure all lawns and hedges
  are kept trimmed to the required standard.
• Irrigating all garden pots/planters and ornamental areas, including lawns,
  to ensure good growing conditions.
• Propagation of garden plant material for use in the garden and plant sales at garden events.

• Monitoring and control of weeds and algae in gravel paths, paving, ponds and borders and taking appropriate action.

Responsible for the management of the Palace woodland including:

• the use of chainsaws to fell and crosscut timber.
• monitoring existing trees and re-planting when necessary to ensure the continuation of a safe and healthy woodland.
  

Develop and implement a garden risk management control plan which includes, but is not limited to, the inspection and periodic pruning of trees

Responsible for the purchase, storage, handling and application of pesticides and weed killers used throughout the Palace grounds adhering to current Health and Safety legislation.

Ensuring the garden bothy, garden tool and machinery sheds, potting shed and greenhouse are all kept in a tidy, safe and well-presented manner

Manage the garden budget in conjunction with the Palace and Events Manager and Accounts Manager including:

• Production of an annual budget for expenditure relating to the maintenance and management of the grounds of Bishopthorpe Palace.
• Submitting requests and invoices for expenditure within the agreed budget for Bishopthorpe Palace garden.
• Agreeing expenditure items with the Palace and Events Manager and Accounts Manager in advance.
• Preparation of a schedule of maintenance and replacement for all machinery and tools including annual servicing.

HEALTH AND SAFETY DUTIES

• Attendance at Bishopthorpe Palace H&S meetings.
• Ensure all garden works are in full compliance with Health and Safety at Work and COSHH regulations.
• Ensure all chain saw and garden chemical licences remain current and comply with Health & Safety legislation.
• In consultation with the Palace & Events Manager and Palace Warden ensuring the safety of garden users by regular checks on trees, access areas, steps and paths and reporting or repairing any hazards.
• Responsible for monitoring all personal protection equipment used in the department to ensure expiry dates for critical safety equipment are adhered here.
• Responsible for maintenance of machinery and tools, including annual servicing.
  

LINE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the line management of the Assistant Gardener.
• Responsible for the line management of casual and volunteer garden staff.
• Overseeing, directing and training garden staff when they are working in the garden.
• Assist the Palace manager with the sourcing, management and supervision of contractors working within the Palace grounds and woodland.
• Assist with the interviewing and appointment of future garden staff.

OTHER DUTIES

• Attendance of regular Bishopthorpe Palace Operation meetings to update on site work by other departments.
• Attendance of management training courses and in-house training and briefing courses when requested.
• Lead on internal and external communications for the Gardening team, including attending office meetings, including the huddle.
• Liaising with the wider Bishopthorpe Palace Estates team to enable maintenance and restoration work via garden areas and agreeing making-good costs for the garden.
• Liaising with the Hospitality team to enable smooth running of their events in both the Palace building and garden
• Dealing with garden enquiries and giving guided tours of the garden.
• Setting up garden open days and attending all garden events at Bishopthorpe Palace as requested by the Palace and Events Manager, to help with stewarding, event presentation and security.
• Helping with the security of the Palace when required, including:

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Occupational Therapist (Sensory & Attachment) will deliver high-quality, trauma-informed occupational therapy assessment and intervention to families with a history of adoption, kinship care and long-term fostering. The postholder will bring advanced expertise in sensory processing/sensory integration and the impact of early adversity, attachment disruption and developmental trauma on regulation, participation and family life. The role will work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) within PATH, contributing to formulation-led support, practical strategies and therapeutic approaches that strengthen safety, connection, and everyday functioning at home, school and in the community.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·Provide specialist assessment and intervention where sensory processing differences interact with attachment needs, developmental trauma, neurodiversity and emotional/behavioural presentations.

·Co-produce practical, strengths-based support plans with parents/carers and, where appropriate, the child/young person; provide clear strategies that are realistic for family life.

·Deliver evidence-informed interventions (1:1 and group-based as appropriate) including sensory-based regulation strategies, activity adaptation, routine design, environmental modification and caregiver coaching.

·Integrate attachment- and trauma-informed principles (e.g., PACE/connection-based approaches) into OT recommendations, ensuring strategies support safety, relational connection and felt security.

·Contribute to MDT formulation and case discussions, offering an occupational therapy perspective on function, participation, sensory-motor development and regulation

·Prepare high-quality written outputs including assessment summaries, recommendations, letters and reports suitable for families and professionals; contribute to documentation required for commissioning/regulated service evidence as needed.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To assist with the smooth running of the training and therapeutic services delivered by the PATH and wider AUK teams.Supporting the Service Delivery Manager with administration associated with AUK training programme.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

•Manage inboxes to ensure emails are responded to promptly including forwarded to the relevant persons, filed and tracked where relevant.

•Track training and service delivery contracts.

•Liaise with trainers (external and internal) as to availability, cancellations, invoices etc

•Record attendance and activities on CRM system

•Set-up training on Event-Brite and track, monitor and report activity

•Support the Service Delivery Manager to produce costs and proposals for individually commissioned contracts

•Produce leaflets / promotional materials as required for Path services

•To support the Service Delivery Manager with quality assurance procedures

•Update relevant sections of the website re content / services using website development tools

•To provide admin support at relevant meetings

•Provide general administrative services to the Team as required.

•Provide cover and assistance for training functions as required.

•Work as part of the wider Path Team in continuous improvement initiatives.

•Working as part of the Path Team to ensure GDPR compliance across team processes

CRITERIA

Knowledge and Experience

•Experience of working in an administrative role with a track record of delivering an accurate and timely admin service.

•Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Teams,  Outlook, Word is essential

•Experience of using Canva and excel spreadsheet proficiency would be  highly desirable

•Experience of updating website and booking systems i.e. EventBrite       highly desirable

•Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on service user satisfaction

•Ability to work flexibly, prioritise and manage workload efficiently

Qualifications and Education

•Educated to GSCE level (or equivalent), English and Maths. Essential.

•Qualification in Business Administration or similar. Desirable.

Homeless Link is the national membership charity for frontline homelessness services. We work to improve services through research, guidance and learning, and campaign for policy change that will ensure everyone has a place to call home and the support they need to keep it. The Communications and Engagement team work across Homeless Link supporting teams to market their products and increase the impact of their work. Whether it is getting information to the member organisations about how to run a good day service, to Ministers on how homelessness services should be funded or to frontline workers advertising our training and conferences, we support Homeless Link’s staff to be as effective as possible.

You will deliver activities to support the MHCLG’s National Workforce Programme, by supporting housing and homelessness teams in both the public and voluntary sector to develop knowledge and skills Learning Pathways. Some Pathways will be specific to a role and others will be focussed on developing organisational knowledge, but all will support the development of professional skills and knowledge for those working with people experiencing housing and homelessness problems in England, to improve outcomes. You will also design, coordinate, and deliver a range of conferences and good practice events to promote learning and innovation across the sector.

About you 

You have proven experience in developing and managing tailored learning pathways and training programmes, including for housing and homelessness law and wider skills development, along with strong experience of working with people with multiple disadvantage and/or those who support them. You are able to develop and maintain partnerships across agencies to ensure the best client support and contribute to multiple agency projects, collaborating and sharing knowledge. Ideally, you are experienced in the homelessness sector or a related field, as well as having excellent skills in communication, IT and digital systems.

Wolfram Syndrome UK (WSUK)

WSUK is a small national charity based in West Sussex that supports children, young people and adults affected by Wolfram Syndrome (WS) and their parents/wider families. WS is an ultra-rare genetic disorder which causes a complex range of symptoms, including diabetes mellitus, vision problems, renal problems, deafness, and neurological problems. WSUK Adult Support Co-ordinator Role

WSUK is seeking a part-time adult support co-ordinator (2.5 days per week, working over 4-5 days, 0.5 FTE, £14.1k-£15.6k per annum), based in the Midlands area. This home-based role will provide support to WS affected adults and their families to help improve the quality of their lives. Through liaising with professionals (including the WS expert clinical team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Birmingham), external or advocacy organisations, this role will help facilitate access to the services to which WS affected adults and their families are entitled. The adult support co-ordinator will help adults and their families to increase their confidence and independence in living with their condition. This role will also act as an important point of contact for WS affected adults, providing advice and support in confidence.

Skills and experience

Applicants should have several years’ experience in a similar position, working with people affected by sensory loss, long-term medical / genetic condition, or disability. Applicants should also have a strong desire to help improve the lives of adults living with a long-term condition or disability and be confident in talking with people with a range of abilities and diverse cultural backgrounds.

Applicants should have experience in working effectively as part of a remote team, be confident in working independently and in managing conflicting priorities.

Some limited UK travel will be required (particularly to meet WS affected adults during their WS clinic visit at QEH, Birmingham (6 clinics per year) and the annual WS conference. An enhanced DBS check will be required.

We do this through our Parkinson’s UK Excellence Network (PEN), a network of over 6,000 health and care professionals with a shared vision: to build an expert Parkinson’s workforce and improve health and care services for people with Parkinson’s.

We bring together and support health and care professionals to share best practice, network and collaborate, share resources and education, and drive improvements to services for people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Excellence Network has provided networking and collaboration opportunities for professionals across the different regions of the UK.

To help us deliver our regional model, we are looking for one healthcare professional to take on the role of Regional Clinical Lead on a consultancy basis in the North East of England and Yorkshire.

About the role 

In this role, you’ll:

• Co-opt a multidisciplinary leadership team to support you in your role. This team should reflect the multi-professional composition of regional services, as well as the geography and should include at least one person with Parkinson's.

• Drive engagement and participation with the Excellence Network at a regional level. 

• Inspire, challenge and collaborate with the health and social care professional community to drive significant improvements to Parkinson’s services across your region.

• Act as a professional ambassador for the Excellence Network and help represent the professionals in your region.

• Engage with Integrated Care Board (ICB) leaders to help influence the development of your Integrated Care System (ICS).

• Work closely with the Professional Engagement team at Parkinson’s UK to organise and hold engagement opportunities in your region. This will include working with the team to hold and lead at least one in-person meeting in your region per year.

• Attend the annual in-person PEN national and regional clinical Leads meeting.

• Support the PEN national calendar of events through attendance or promotion. This includes Excellence Hub meetings and other activities centred around our national priorities.

• Work closely with the PEN National Clinical Leadership Team (CLT) to discuss and review national and regional priorities. Attend a virtual meeting with CLT 2 times per year. 

What you’ll bring:

• You’ll be a UK-based clinical healthcare professional, working in Parkinson’s or with extensive interest and expertise in the condition, with exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills. Healthcare professionals living with Parkinson’s are also encouraged to apply.

• You will have a good understanding of the landscape of health and social care delivery, education and workforce development to support the strategic aims and objectives of Parkinson’s UK.
