As Legacy and In-Memory Manager you will be responsible for leading your team to drive transformational change, through the delivery of our legacy and in-memory growth strategy. 

You will set objectives and oversee team activity to deliver the entire legacy journey with the aim of achieving significant long-term growth in revenue income to support our ambitious plans to bring Maggie’s cancer care to everyone who needs us. 

You will be responsible for working collaboratively with teams from across Maggie’s to engage them in the importance of legacy and in-memory giving. 

You will manage external agencies and suppliers to deliver excellent work, on time and to budget.  You will also manage end-to-end, multi-channel campaigns including the delivery of these through colleagues and agencies.

About the role

We are looking for a Finance Assistant to support the delivery of accurate, timely financial information and help ensure strong financial controls across the organisation. You will play a key role in supporting month-end processes, maintaining robust audit trails, and working closely with colleagues across finance, data and fundraising.

Blue Cross animal hospitals and pet care clinics provide veterinary treatment to sick and injured pets when their owners can’t afford private veterinary fees. Our vet care is available to pets whose owners receive certain means-tested benefits and live within the catchment area of one of our animal hospitals or pet care clinics.   

Our Hammersmith hospital is a compact, quirky site with lots of character which first opened in 1922; we’re very proud of its history. Despite its size, it’s well equipped with digital and dental x-ray, ultrasound and a mini-lab for in-house testing and microscopy, which we actively encourage nurses to get involved to develop these skills. We have separate dog and cat wards, a dedicated room for euthanasia to ensure privacy and dignity and a designated reception team so clinical staff can stay focused on patient care.

We start each day with short, informal mini-meetings to share updates and we hold monthly whole-team meetings where everyone’s voice is encouraged. Working hours

This is a full-time, permanent role offering a good work–life balance, with weekday hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm. You’ll work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm and Wednesdays from 9:00am to 5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break. We’re also happy to consider part-time applicants looking to work four days per week, with days discussed at interview. 

Weekend shifts are worked on a rota basis at our Victoria site, averaging around 7–8 weekends per year. 

About you

As a Veterinary Nurse, you will be confident and capable in delivering excellent nursing care for a range of small animals, providing both emergency and routine healthcare. Our Veterinary Nurses work alongside Veterinary Surgeons to promote animal health and welfare through responsible ownership and play a key role in the education of pet owners.

Role Purpose:

The Circle is an alternative to A&E for young people and children who are finding it hard to cope with their mental health, when medical intervention might not be necessary. We provide one-off in the moment support, and we are open every day of the year.

Mental health advisors are part of the core team, supporting children and young people aged 5-18 and their families every day. We do not have waiting lists. You are expected to work within HFEH Mind’s policies and procedures and adhere to our code of conduct/values.

This role may suit those that have worked with vulnerable children in the past, including, but not limited to, support workers, CAMHS workers and mental health workers. We work within a diverse borough and look to reflect this in our team.

Job Summary:

The mental health advisor role is a key part of the delivery of the Circle, working to support young people and their families who are finding it hard to cope. They will conduct (up to) hour long, one-off sessions with children and young people aged 5-18, providing: safety planning, coping mechanisms, psychoeducation, and signposting, and supporting in de-escalation. This will be delivered with a non-judgemental and empathetic approach.

As a mental health advisor, you will need to be ready to respond in the moment to presenting (often unknown) concerns. You will dynamically risk assess situations and be confident in raising concerns when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Delivery:

• Work as part of a team to provide support to children, young people and their families.
• Work within the Circle framework and follow all HFEH Mind’s policies and procedures.
• Develop an understanding of the local area, and other services, to effectively signpost to.
• Deal with all safeguarding concerns in line with HFEH Mind’s safeguarding children policy.
• Take pride in the working environment, keeping it clean and tidy, and reporting any Health and Safety concerns appropriately.
• Utilise skills flexibly and effectively so that support can be tailored in a creative way.

Service Accountability:

• Maintain accurate, clear and concise records of all interactions with children, young people, parents/carers and professionals.
• Attend and engage in mandatory training, as directed by HFEH Mind.
• Ensure all support provided has an inclusive values base, which recognises and respects difference and diversity.
• To work collaboratively with all other partners and professionals and represent HFEH Mind in a positive light.

Other:

• To attend and engage constructively in 1-1 supervision, team meetings and group reflective practice, where applicable.
• Carry out any additional tasks as required by a manager in Children and Young People Services.

Person Specification

Essential

• A minimum of two years’ experience supporting vulnerable or at risk children and young people in a paid or voluntary capacity, or equivalent.
• An ability to form supportive relationships with families, and tailor support to individual need.
• A child-centred approach to work
• Working knowledge of child and adult safeguarding.
• Organisational skills and excellent time management.
• Excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to tailor messages to a variety of audiences.
• Ability to organise and prioritise workload.

• Experience of working with children or young people presenting with complex needs, and/or who are neurodiverse.

Supporting the day-to-day effective operation of the charity including:

Information management

Working closely with the Director of People, the HR Officer will play a key role in ensuring effective people management practices that enable the organisation to fulfil its educational, regulatory and member-focused mission.

This is a permanent role with a hybrid working arrangement, requiring one to two days per week in the organisation’s central London office.

The HR Officer will take responsibility for the end-to-end recruitment process, from role scoping and advertising through to interview coordination, candidate communication and referencing. They will oversee onboarding and induction, ensuring new starters are effectively supported in a hybrid working environment, and will manage core HR administration, including contracts, payroll changes, pensions uploads, benefits administration and HR systems maintenance. The role will also involve coordinating performance management cycles, staff surveys and people-related reporting, maintaining and updating HR policies, and acting as a first point of contact for managers and staff on matters such as probation, leave, maternity and other family-friendly policies. Alongside this, the postholder will support employee relations processes, liaise with external providers and agencies, and ensure compliance with employment legislation, data protection and right-to-work requirements.

The successful candidate will bring previous experience in a similar HR role, with strong exposure to recruitment, payroll and pensions, and confidence advising on first-level employee relations matters. They will be highly organised, detail-driven and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with stakeholders at all levels. A sound working knowledge of UK employment legislation, ACAS codes of practice and right-to-work compliance is essential, as are strong communication skills and a high degree of discretion and integrity. Experience within a charity, membership or values-led organisation would be advantageous, as would familiarity with HR systems, reporting and advanced Excel. A relevant professional qualification, or equivalent practical experience supported by ongoing professional development, is desirable.
