The Events Assistant is a dynamic role centred on supporting the work of Hereford Cathedral’s Events Department. The Events Department’s core aim is to support the demand for income generating events and venue hires, such as light shows, silent discos, and multiple days of concerts, whilst also maintaining our programme of community, charity and missional engagement events and projects. These events help to anchor Hereford Cathedral’s identity as a space for all and a centre of the community, city and county.

The Events Assistant will join the department at an exciting time as we plan ahead for flagship events including the Medieval Hereford Festival over the summer, The Mysteries play in the Autumn and the ever-popular Christmas Fair. This is an exciting position in a busy department, ideal for a sociable and professional individual with attention to detail, initiative and a positive mindset.

KEY REPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE

• Provide administrative support for the Events Department, including processing booking forms, email and phone enquiries, internal event forms, diary bookings, meeting agendas and minutes, float requests, and preparing for invoicing.

 • Provide practical administration of bookings for the smaller venues on the cathedral site. This involves clear communication with hirers, liaison with the catering team and acting as a warm and welcoming host when hirers arrive on site. The role also includes playing a key part, alongside the Events Manager and Marketing Department to increase corporate and private small venue hire bookings.

• Communicate effectively and professionally with external clients and venue hirers to ensure all details and arrangements for their events are obtained during the booking process, and ensure this is reported to the Events Manager and subsequently other cathedral staff.

• Assist the Events Department to effectively oversee and provide practical and administrative support for events run by other cathedral departments, such as Music, Education and Library and Archives. This will include regular support of the Education Department’s weekly ‘Cathedral Seedlings’ toddler group.

• Produce monthly notes for the cathedral Vergers which outline upcoming events. • Assist the rota and safety briefing preparation and be a key point of contact for the voluntary Commercial Event Steward team.

• Assist the Events Department and Visitor Engagement Manager with the CRM Box Office system ‘Spektrix’. This will include occasional event building and box office ticket sale duties.

• Support the Events and Development Officer to facilitate the successful running of the Escape Room, Escape Room Volunteers and delivery of sessions.

• Providing practical hands-on support on event days and sometimes acting as lead when the Events Manager or Events and Development Officer are not present. This will involve set-up and pack-down, front of house duties and steward, staff and venue hirer liaison. Setting up for events is a practical task which will require an organised person who takes initiative, who is active, physically fit and able to move light furniture (tables, chairs, tech equipment) when required.

General Attributes:

• To ensure compliance with the Cathedral’s safeguarding policies and procedures, including attaining a satisfactory DBS check and undertaking safeguarding training to the level required for the role.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL

• Good standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent

• Ability to carry out various physical tasks, including being able to climb step ladders, move light furniture, such as chairs and tables, and provide swift emergency assistance during events

• Confident user of ICT systems, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

• Good organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently to deadlines

• Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally

• Good team player but able to work alone, use own initiative and know when to seek advice

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

DESIRABLE

• Previous experience of working for events, visitor engagement, hospitality, retail or community/ charity organisations

• Previous experience of delivering excellent customer service

• Previous experience of working with a ticketing box office system such as Spektrix.

• Hold a current First Aid at Work qualification, or a willingness and ability to attain one

• Understanding of Health and Safety legislation

The Accounts Assistant role involves:

• Processing day-to-day finances, ensuring all bank accounts and transactions are reconciled and coded correctly on Xero at month end.
• Ensuring all income is accurately processed and recorded on Xero and our CRM system (Beacon).
• Generating invoices as required, inputting into Xero, and chasing outstanding payments
• Overseeing and managing the expense card system (Volopa), topping up individual cards as required and processing payments
• Supporting the Finance Manager in the planning and production of accurate annual budgets.

Safeguarding Caseworker x 3 (Remote – Temp from June 1st to mid-October 2026)

I am delighted to be working with a fantastic children’s charity in search of three highly organised, calm-under-pressure, Safeguarding Caseworkers to support this international non-profit organisation. This fully remote role focuses on managing safeguarding concerns across a global network, ensuring timely, proportionate, and child-centred responses.

The Role

You will lead safeguarding cases from initial report through to resolution, working with colleagues, volunteers, and partners across multiple countries. You’ll play a key role in ensuring safe, consistent decision-making in line with organisational policy and local legislation.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and triage safeguarding concerns, ensuring prompt and appropriate responses
• Manage cases end-to-end: risk assessment, action planning, referrals, and closure

We are working with a conservation charity that is looking to recruit a Finance Officer or Purchase Ledger Clerk to support their small finance team. The role will mainly involve assisting with a weekly payment run of around 20 to 30 invoices and responding to routine queries via the finance inbox.

• Monitor and manage the finance inbox, responding to routine staff and supplier queries.
• Process purchase orders and approximately 20 to 30 invoices each week using iplicit.
• Run the weekly payment run on Thursdays using Unity banking.
• Support staff with questions relating to the recently introduced purchase order process.

This is a hands‑on, relationship‑led role at the heart of Trekstock’s fundraising, with real responsibility and the opportunity to take ownership within a growing team.

You’ll take ownership of key income streams including challenge events, corporate partnerships and supporter care, helping us grow income while delivering a brilliant experience for everyone who supports Trekstock.

You’ll work closely with existing partners such as Fujifilm UK and The National Lottery, while also contributing to the development of future partnerships. This is a role for a confident starter‑finisher who enjoys taking ideas from concept through to delivery and seeing work through with care and impact.

From managing our iconic Trek This City event to building long‑term partnerships with corporate supporters, you’ll play a key role in bringing new people into our community and keeping them connected to our mission. You’ll be trusted to take ownership, build strong relationships, and make things happen in a small but mighty team.

Key responsibilities

Challenge events & community fundraising

• Lead on the delivery and growth of Trekstock’s challenge events portfolio, including Trek This City, London Marathon places and third‑party events
• Recruit, manage and inspire participants and volunteers, supporting them to reach (and smash) their fundraising targets
• Build meaningful supporter journeys for fundraisers and volunteers that feel personal, motivating and on brand
• Work closely with colleagues and volunteers to promote events and bring supporter stories to life
• Monitor performance, income and ROI, spotting opportunities to grow, improve and refine our approach
• Attend and support events, working alongside volunteers on the day (including occasional evenings and weekends)

Corporate partnerships

• Develop and manage relationships with existing corporate partners, including multi-year charity partners
• Deliver engaging, high-quality partnerships that go beyond fundraising
• Identify opportunities to increase income and deepen engagement
• Support pitches, proposals and reporting for new and existing partners

Walking With the Wounded (WWTW) supports those who have served in the British Armed Forces and their families, specialising in developing pathways to independence.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Veterans Liaison and Officer (VLSO) to join a team providing support to ex-armed forces personnel.  You will be home-based, with a caseload spread across Hertfordshire and occasionally adjoining counties.

We are looking for a dedicated individual who will empower ex-service personnel to regain their independence after a period of Mental Health (MH) Crisis, supporting them to thrive and contribute to our communities.  This role will join a team of existing VLSOs across the  East of England as part of a wider collaborative team within NHS England’s Op Courage - the Veterans’ Mental Health and Wellbeing service, and will work with other service charities and local support services. You will be home based with daily travel around your local region to support your clients and build relationships in the community, whilst working as part of the wider regional WWTW and NHS clinical teams.

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with prior experience of working with vulnerable adults; an individual who can work independently to set priorities that accurately reflect the client’s needs.  Your role will be to work with clients in the community (or their homes), facilitating intense support and analysing individual needs to create a support plan that will break down barriers to a successful stabilisation, whilst navigating their mental health pathway.

About Degrees

The Degrees Initiative is a UK-based NGO that builds the capacity of the Global South to evaluate solar radiation modification (SRM) geoengineering, a controversial proposal for reducing some impacts of climate change by reflecting sunlight away from the Earth. Degrees is neutral on whether SRM should ever be used, but we believe that the Global South should be empowered to conduct its own research and to play a central role in SRM discussions. The initiative has been working in different forms for fifteen years, and our work receives worldwide coverage and widespread acclaim. 

We seek a Fundraising / Development Manager to manage relationships with our existing funders and to help bring in new donors and partners to diversify our funding base. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to increase the capacity of a field-leading charity, help empower the Global South, and contribute to one of the world’s most important climate-change debates. If you are an ambitious, relationship-driven fundraising leader with an interest in climate policy, science or global development, this is an opportunity to step into a role with purpose, international influence, and real impact.  

The charity is rapidly scaling up, recently doubling its annual budget to £6 million. Degrees has partnered with leading climate change funders and research partners including the Quadrature Climate Foundation, Open Philanthropy, Crankstart, Navigation Fund, Outlier Projects, LAD Climate Fund and UK Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA). Transparency of funding is essential to our work. We do not accept support from anonymous donors or funding from the fossil fuel industry.

Role

We now seek a full-time team member to build on this base. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and working closely with the Founder & CEO and the Chair of the Trustees, the Fundraising / Development Manager will support and coordinate fundraising efforts aimed at securing multi‑year, diversified funding. He / she will also introduce robust processes for pipeline management and donor stewardship, and will support and coordinate the complete donor lifecycle (from identification to cultivation to solicitation and stewardship) of a portfolio of top prospects. The post holder will receive initial onboarding support from the Senior Philanthropy Advisor. As fundraising grows, the team may expand in the future.

Initial priorities include expansion beyond the current donor pool, with a strong push to engage new funders, and putting in place the systems (CRM, reporting cadence, key performance indicators) to support growth at scale.

As this is a new role, responsibilities are expected to evolve but some key items will include: 

Strategy & planning

• Work with the CEO, COO, Senior Philanthropy Advisor, the Chair of the Trustees, and other senior staff to support the development and implementation of a multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with organisational objectives; 

Pipeline development & new opportunities 

• Maintain and coordinate the fundraising pipeline, supporting the fundraising activities of senior staff and the Chair; 

• Support the identification and development of new funding opportunities from trusts and foundations, government funders, and multilateral donors in the development and climate sectors on an ongoing basis; 

• Reach out to networks of climate philanthropy advisors for referrals; 

• Manage contact with funding opportunities; 

Grant writing 

• Draft and coordinate the preparation and submission of grant proposals; 

Donor stewardship & reporting 

• Maintain excellent relations with existing funders by keeping them informed on charity and sector updates, inviting them to events, and ensuring the delivery of annual reports and notices; 

• Ensure and manage ongoing reporting; 

Events & engagement 

• Working with the Events Manager, help design and deliver fundraising events for existing and potential funders, particularly in the UK and US; 

• Manage invitation lists, track attendance and ensure bespoke follow-up to attendees; 

• Assist in the design of events that will inspire and engage funders while involving Southern experts in the Degrees research community; 

• Coordinate all fundraising outreach and related programming for the Degrees Global Forum (a conference to be held in 2027); 

Processes, systems & administration 

• Support the development and implementation of structured processes across the entire fundraising and donor lifecycle; 

• Develop and track KPIs, providing regular reports to senior staff and the Trustees; 

• Be responsible for fundraising data, contacts and administrative records. 

Qualifications 

Essential 

• At least ten years’ experience in fundraising or transferrable relevant experience;

• Track record of helping secure six- and seven-figure grants income from foundations, major individual donors, and/or public agencies; 

• Strong organisational and project management skills; 

• Experience and comfort with Microsoft 365, fundraising CRMs and other common software tools; 

• Experience organising events; 

• Ability to write clearly and communicate effectively in English with a keen attention to detail; 

• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, including an ability to work with people of all levels and backgrounds; 

• Experience creating and maintaining fundraising processes; 

• Ability to adapt and remain comfortable in a dynamic, remote start-up environment in a small organisation; 

• Ability to travel internationally; 

• Legal right to work in the UK.
