We’re excited to welcome a new Volunteering Leader at our London & South East location

Working Hours & Location 

This role follows a 37 hours, over a 7 day working pattern. The post holder will also be required to work an annualised hours system which includes working any 5 days out of 7 including statutory holidays. They will also be part of a 24-hour operational standby team responsible for providing emergency cover for the waterway.

On-call responsibility
Volunteer Leaders take part in an on-call rota alongside other Canal & River Trust colleagues:
•    Approximately 1 week in every 5
•    Availability from 4:00pm to 8:00am on weekdays, plus the full weekend
•    A Trust vehicle will be taken home during on-call periods to respond to callouts

The Volunteering Leader will be based at Enfield Lock, Ordnance Road, Enfield EN3 6JG. This role involves travel between sites and includes use of a Trust vehicle.

Role Overview

We’re looking for practical, motivated Volunteer Leaders to support our Operations team in keeping the waterways around the upper Lee navigation and the River Lee open, safe and clean.

This is a hands-on, operational role where you’ll lead and support groups of volunteers to carry out essential maintenance and improvement tasks along the canal network. You’ll work closely with our Operations staff, sometimes alongside them, to identify issues and organise volunteer activity to resolve them.

Key Accountabilities:

As a Volunteer Leader, you will:
•    Work closely with the Operations team to identify where support is needed
•    Recruit and organise volunteers to help resolve operational issues

•    Plan and lead volunteer groups to carry out practical maintenance tasks
•    Deliver work that supports our purpose: Open, Safe & Clean waterways and towpaths

Please note: This is a hands‑on operational maintenance role. While you’ll be working in outdoor environments, the position does not involve gardening, planting projects, or creating habitats such as wildflower areas, planters, or tree planting.

About you

We’re seeking an organised, proactive, and engaging Volunteering Lead to work closely with our Area Operations Manager. In this role, you’ll support and guide a growing community of dedicated volunteers, as well as our internal team, all working together to protect, maintain, and enhance the environment and heritage of our local waterways for residents and visitors to enjoy.

You’ll be confident handling day‑to‑day administration and comfortable leading, motivating, and supporting volunteer groups. A strong focus on safety and a responsible approach are essential.

It would be beneficial if you have experience in:

• Health & Safety processes, including risk assessments and method statements

We are looking to recruit a Project Worker to our diverse team at Sutton Vulnerable Adults.  Reporting to one of the Deputy Manager you will be responsible for providing person-centred support to clients to manage their tenancies and access independence.

You will be able to liaise effectively with external agencies, have clear communication skills, a non-judgemental approach, and a good working knowledge of homeless clients and the challenges they face.

The Ministry Development Team (MDT) is a team of 45 people which sits within the Archbishops' Council. We are nationally responsible for ensuring that there is a pipeline of lay and ordained ministers together with their terms of service and the development of future and current senior leaders to meet the missional needs of the church. The Ministry Human Resources (HR) Policy Officer will play a key role in the life of the Ministry Development Team as we work together to support the mission and ministry of the Church of England by supporting the development of the ministerial terms of service and wellbeing portfolio. Duties and key responsibilities

Database Administration (Raiser’s Edge NXT)

• Manage, maintain and optimise constituent and gift data on Raiser’s Edge NXT to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Support the Database Officer with processing incoming donations from online giving platforms including JustGiving and Fundraise Up to ensure accurate integration and reconciliation.
• Support the Database Officer with monthly reconciliations between Raiser’s Edge NXT and the income spreadsheet.
• Work with the Database Manager to develop and manage Omatic Cloud automated processes for importing constituent and gift data from external fundraising platforms.
• Support the Database Manager in designing and monitoring database KPIs.
• Lead data cleansing and housekeeping projects including data retention, consent and Gift Aid reviews identifying areas for improvement and implementation of best practice in collaboration with the Database Manager and Database Officer.

About the team

The Philanthropy Team raises income for Impetus and for Impetus partner charities. The team consists of 15 staff. Impetus has an annual income of c.£11 million which we are looking to grow significantly within the next few years. The team is led by the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships. 

The Philanthropy Team works with major donors, corporates and grant making trusts, as well as collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to ensure we make a compelling case to generate new financial commitments and wider support for our work. The team also deliver a high-quality engagement programme of volunteering and pro bono for Impetus’s corporate supporters.

About this role

This role is a 12‑month maternity cover, supporting an important phase of delivery and development within the Philanthropy team. The postholder will work closely with colleagues to maintain momentum in new business activity while contributing to strategic account management and stewardship. 

The Head of Development is a senior role within the Philanthropy Team, with a primary focus on new business development. This includes identifying, cultivating and securing new funding relationships across trusts, foundations, corporates, co‑investment partners and high‑net‑worth individuals. 

Alongside new business delivery, the role also provides strategic account management for a small portfolio of high-value partners, ensuring smooth transitions from acquisition into long term stewardship. 

This role works alongside the Head of Philanthropy, with both roles contributing to the success of the Philanthropy Team. The Head of Philanthropy leads on deep stewardship and retention, while the Head of Development focusses on new income generation and building relationships with new funders and partners. 

The postholder will work closely with the Director of Philanthropy & Partnerships, Philanthropy Directors as well as Senior Research and Insights Manager, contributing specialist expertise, strong delivery and sound judgement, while operating within agreed strategy and governance frameworks.

​Key responsibilities:

New business development

• Support the Director of Philanthropy & Partnerships and Development Director on the development and delivery of the new business plan in line with the fundraising strategy
• Works with the Senior Research and Insights Manager to identify emerging funding trends, opportunities, market opportunities and best practice
• In collaboration with the Development Director and Growth and Insights Director, lead the delivery of agreed cultivation strategies for priority prospects, proactively progressing relationships from qualification through to solicitation and conversion, leveraging senior stakeholders, board members, donor advocates and wider networks

A few practical things

• This is a hybrid role, with a minimum requirement to work from our London office in Brunswick Square at least 8 days per month.
