Job description

Hybrid – ideally London based 2 days a week

Whizz Kidz is seeking someone with significant experience in designing research projects to join us a an Insight and Engagement Officer and support our impact and evaluation work across the organisation.

Over 75,000 young people aren’t getting the wheelchair or support that fully meets their needs. Without the ability to be independent young wheelchair users are restricted in their ability to socialise and participate in society.

Job summary
This role is central to the Policy & Engagement Team. The postholder will support our impact and evaluation work across the organisation in line with our Theory of Change, producing quarterly reports, annual reports and briefings for the Board, Parliamentarians and grant funders. The role works alongside Youth Board to identify project ideas and support any research work affiliated with their projects. The postholder has responsibility for Whizz Kidz Community Change projects and Research panel.

The person
You will have a passion for working with young people and driving change and perceptions. You will have significant experience in designing research projects to ensure Whizz Kidz is meeting the aims and objectives of its Theory of Change and that it is listening to the voice of young wheelchair users. You can read and interpret qualitative and quantitative data and use this data to form strong arguments.

Key accountabilities

  • Lead the Whizz Kidz Community Change projects ensuring fair distribution of funds and impact analysis. You will be the link to all of our projects.
  • Lead the Whizz Kidz research panel ensuring opportunities to contribute to the panel are circulated and that this is used to feed into national strategy.
  • Provide research and analysis as needed to support the Youth Board and Whizz Kidz wider policy work.
  • Support monthly management reporting; quarterly Theory of Change reporting and Annual impact reporting with the Impact & Evaluation Manager
  • Draft content for Whizz Kidz documentation (e.g campaign briefings)
  • Contribute to / lead on external policy consultation responses
  • Analyse internal and external data to provide robust arguments for societal change work
  • Analysis and reporting of Whizz Kidz beneficiaries against IMD and income data and demographics
  • Attend Youth Board and other events as needed

The post holder will also

  • Work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends, and to travel and stay overnight where necessary.
  • Work within all policies, procedures and budgets set by Whizz Kidz.
  • Act at all times in the best interest of Whizz Kidz.
  • Form effective working relationships with all colleagues members, volunteers and outside organisations as appropriate.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that the policies and procedures relating to Health & Safety in the workplace are adhered to at all times.
  • Respect the confidentiality of data stored electronically and by other means in line with the Data Protection Act.
  • Not disclose to an unauthorised person any confidential information acquired through official duties unless they have received official permission to do so.

Skills and knowledge

  • Ability to get on with and work well with children, young people and families
  • Ability to work with stakeholders and partners on projects
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Excellent knowledge of research methods, data collection and statistical analysis related to impact & evaluation
  • Be able to analyse data for a range of audiences
  • Experience of report writing and research for external audiences

Experience

  • Experience of research and evaluation (ideally within the charity sector)
  • Demonstratable experience of conducting monitoring and evaluation research independently
  • Experience of working with qualitative and quantitative data
  • Strong project management experience

Annual leave
25 days of annual leave per annum plus Bank Holiday (pro-rata for part time colleagues).
