An exciting opportunity has come up for a new Programme Coordinator to lead delivery of our exciting, peer-led Period Peers programme at Plan International UK.
 
We are recruiting for a Programme Coordinator to lead the delivery of our exciting Period Peers Programme, delivered in partnership with Reckitt Benckiser and Nurofen, equipping young people to lead conversations about menstrual health, challenge shame and stigma around periods, and train and support organisations to become “Period Proud” environments.
 
You will coordinate partners across youth, community and education settings, oversee delivery, monitoring and evaluation, ensure excellent safeguarding practices and help amplify learning and impact. 
 
The successful candidate will have experience working with young people and youth organisations and have experience managing partnerships and delivery plans confidently will have a strong commitment to safeguarding. You will be confident in implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks and reporting to donors.

Key Responsibilities

General Administration

• Provide day-to-day administrative support across the organisation, ensuring smooth and efficient operations

• Manage and maintain organisational filing systems — both digital and physical — ensuring documents are accurate, accessible and up to date

About the team

 Shelter’s Finance Team sits within the Strategy Enablement Directorate, which also includes HR Operations, Technology and Data, and Governance, Planning and Property. The Finance Team consists of 32 people led by the Assistant Director of Finance.

This role sits within the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Team. FP&A produces financial reports and analysis, provides expert advice, and enables collaboration to support effective decision making throughout the charity.

About the team

Our Property and Facilities team is responsible for ensuring Shelter’s estate is fit for purpose and fully compliant for its staff, volunteers and clients. We provide a full range of professional services, including acquisitions, disposals, rent and lease negotiations, rating, estates management, building surveying, strategic planning, budgeting, compliance, health & safety and facilities management. We also support all office and shop relocations, refurbishments and planned maintenance projects, while our portfolio comprises one freehold head office property in London, 24 leasehold offices and around 90 leasehold shops across England and Scotland.

About the role

You will be responsible for all property related matters across Scotland and England for our diverse portfolio. That will involve making regular site visits, with occasional overnight stays. As well as ensuring all lease events are managed and actioned and properties are safe, maintained and fully compliant, we’ll also rely on you to assist with the development and implementation of robust policies, processes and systems to help manage the estate in an efficient and cost-effective manner. You’ll need a degree level qualification in a surveying/property related discipline and full RICS membership. You’ll also need a good understanding of the planning process and building regulations approval system. Self-motivated, capable of working both unsupervised and as part of a team, and with a positive ‘can do’ attitude, providing solutions, giving sound property advice and negotiating effectively with a variety of key stakeholders comes naturally to you. EQUISS Caseworker

Reports to: Head of Advocacy and Safeguarding

Purpose of the Role

EQUISS is an independent organisation working to strengthen safeguarding, welfare and accountability across the equestrian sector.

Across the equestrian world - from riding schools and training yards to competitions and affiliated clubs - concerns about abuse, misconduct and unsafe practices have too often been difficult to raise, navigate or resolve. EQUISS has been established to help change that: ensuring individuals affected by harm are heard, supported and able to access clear and safe pathways for raising concerns.

This role represents the first advocacy caseworker position within EQUISS, playing a central part in establishing a new, independent support service for the equestrian sector.

The Caseworker will provide trauma-informed advocacy, guidance and practical support to individuals experiencing abuse, harm or misconduct within equestrian environments. The role will help individuals understand their options, access appropriate support and navigate reporting processes within sport and, where appropriate, statutory systems.

Working closely with the Head of Advocacy and Safeguarding, the Caseworker will help deliver EQUISS’s advocacy service and support line, ensuring individuals receive safe, informed and survivor-centred support.

As one of the early roles within a developing organisation, the Caseworker will also contribute insight from frontline casework to help EQUISS identify patterns, risks and systemic safeguarding challenges within the equestrian world, supporting the organisation’s wider mission to drive meaningful reform.

Key Responsibilities

Advocacy and Support

• Provide empathetic, trauma-informed support to individuals seeking guidance relating to abuse, misconduct or safeguarding concerns within equestrian environments
• Act as a single point of contact (SPOC) for individuals engaging with the criminal justice system, helping them understand processes, maintain communication with relevant agencies and access appropriate support throughout the process
• Listen to and respond to disclosures in a sensitive, survivor-centred manner while always maintaining professional boundaries, and ensuring clients understand the remit of the service
• Help individuals understand their rights, options and available pathways for raising concerns
• Support individuals to make informed decisions about next steps, while respecting their autonomy and choices
• Where appropriate, accompany and support individuals at face-to-face meetings, including meetings with organisations, safeguarding professionals or governing bodies, and provide advocacy support during interactions with police or court processes

• Manage a caseload of advocacy enquiries and support requests under the supervision of the Head of Advocacy and Safeguarding

• Maintain clear, accurate and confidential case records in line with organisational policies and data protection requirements

Safeguarding

• Identify safeguarding concerns involving children, young people or adults at risk and respond in line with EQUISS safeguarding procedures.
• Escalate safeguarding concerns to the Head of Advocacy and Safeguarding where appropriate, seeking guidance on complex or high-risk situations while maintaining confidence in managing routine casework independently
• Support the safe handling and documentation of safeguarding concerns, including gathering relevant information and assisting with referrals where appropriate.
• Maintain clear and confidential records of safeguarding decisions and actions taken

 

Partnership and Liaison

• Work collaboratively with relevant organisations and professionals where appropriate, including safeguarding leads within equestrian sport, statutory agencies and specialist support services
• Support individuals in navigating organisational processes where concerns relate to equestrian environments

Learning and Insight

• Contribute insight from casework to help EQUISS identify patterns, risks and systemic safeguarding issues within the equestrian world

Qualifications

Essential

• Safeguarding training at Level 3, or willingness to undertake Level 3 safeguarding training within the first six months of appointment

• ISVA, IDVA or CHISVA qualification, or equivalent advocacy training.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience delivering complex commercial operations within high-footfall, multi-site environments, with accountability for income, compliance and performance.
• Experience leading teams and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, including but  not limited to commercial, property and legal colleagues, to deliver operational and contractual outcomes.
• Proven delivery of restaurant openings, refurbishments, transitions or closures within live hospitality environments, managing risk, continuity of trade and reputation.
• Strong practical understanding of food and beverage operations, including food safety, licensing, planning and front-of-house/back-of-house requirements.
• Strong financial acumen, including budget management, forecasting, financial risk assessment and tracking of project budgets and milestones.
• Ability to manage complex, fast-paced change programmes with material commercial impact, balancing competing priorities and making sound decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, operators and partners while maintaining control in high-pressure environments.
