Hope Against Cancer is Leicestershire and Rutland’s local cancer research charity.  We were established in 2003 to fund cutting-edge research in our area and to make clinical trials available to local people.  Since 2003 we have raised in excess of £8m and funded over 100 research projects which investigate many different forms of cancer.

About the role

The role of the Corporate and Community Partnerships Manager is to generate income to meet the Charity’s fundraising requirements by maintaining and developing successful partnerships with corporate and community group supporters, through donations, sponsorship, employee and group fundraising activities and events (organised both by Hope and third parties).

As a Corporate and Community Partnerships Manager at Hope, you will work alongside our existing Corporate and Community Fundraiser. Together you will be responsible for the delivery of corporate and community activities, and our annual income and expenditure budget.

We are looking for an individual who is self-motivated, self-sufficient, and supportive. This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves to network, to communicate with others and contribute to life-changing work.

The problem - On average, 160 young people are excluded from school each week. Once excluded, prospects for these young people are bleak, with only 4% achieving good GCSE grades, and 67% entering sustained education, employment or training compared to 96% of their non-excluded peers. This can be a pipeline to prison, with concerning statistics showing 63% of prisoners having been excluded from school.

Our mission - To ensure that young people who have been excluded from school are not excluded from society.

Who we serve - We support the hardest to reach young people in the most disadvantaged communities, each of whom are most at risk of experiencing school exclusion or are at risk of being excluded. Young people who are eligible for free school meals are 4x more likely to get excluded, along with black Caribbean boys. Young people with special educational needs are also six times as likely to be excluded as their peers.

Our work - We work in a number of different settings both during term time and after school. Our coaches lead small groups of 8-10 young people, using sport as a hook and mentorship as an anchor to develop their soft skills, as well as improve their physical & mental wellbeing. This, coupled with exposure to the work place through Career Taster Days, raises their aspirations and puts young people in a better position to enter sustained education, employment or training (EET) when they leave school.

Role Overview

We are looking for people to join our team across England and Wales in Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Cardiff, Luton, Milton Keynes, London.

We are recruiting Youth Workers across our delivery locations in England and Wales to join our squad in August for the new academic year. This is a frontline role where you will spend the majority of your time working with young people, building relationships with them and delivering our full programme of activities which includes rugby based activity sessions, employability workshops, career taster days and more.

You will be working with some of the hardest to reach young people who are most at risk of exclusion, in small groups of 8-10. We use rugby as a hook and mentorship as an anchor, using our four cornerstones (developing life skills, raising aspirations, improving physical wellbeing, focus on mental wellbeing) to develop young people throughout their time with us. We enable young people to be in a better position to enter sustained education, employment or training (EET) when they leave school. 

The delivery team always work in pairs, running our interventions across a variety of settings (including mainstream schools, Pupil Referral Units, Alternative Provisions, SEN schools, Youth Offenders Institutes, community centres and rugby clubs) working in the school timetable and between 3-7pm. While delivering our interventions is a big part of the job, you will also be responsible for supporting the team to ensure the successful collection of data, managing school relationships and delivering on partnership projects.

You do not need to be a rugby fanatic for this role, but you do need to be passionate about social mobility of the excluded. We are looking for someone with a youth work, teaching, mentoring or sports coaching background to help strengthen our team as we work towards our forward strategy.

Alongside student leaders and staff, the Social Policy Lead ensures that the Guild is an expert on the issues that affect Exeter students, so that student leaders are empowered to advocate for change and help all students to Love Exeter.

Housing and Wellbeing Mentor

Hours: Full time 35 hours a week Monday to Friday

Location: Hybrid role with Nominal office working in Chorley, and regular travel to venues around Lancashire for tenant visits, training, and team meetings.

Lancashire Mind’s Tenancy Management Service works in partnership with several registered housing partners across Lancashire to manage a portfolio of properties on their behalf and provide tenancy support to people living with moderate mental health conditions.

We care about making a difference to people’s lives and through the provision of regular support, we work with each person to improve their mental wellbeing and build the confidence and skills to sustain their tenancy and move on to independent living.

We use an outcome-based approach, making sure that each person is involved in their own support planning from the start of their journey with us and achieve this by offering encouragement and one to one support to help each person to understand and manage their tenancy, develop social and daily living skills, gain access to essential services to manage their mental and physical health and help and guidance to maximise their benefits and improve their economic wellbeing.

Your new role

We are looking for a new Tenancy Management Worker to join our small and friendly team to manage a caseload of customers who have complex needs including mental health conditions, substance misuse, homelessness, and a possible history of offending.

Your job will be to work closely with these individuals to promote independent living and help them to achieve and sustain their tenancies. This is a challenging and varied job which is often rewarding, particularly when the people we have supported achieve their own goals and move on to build better lives.

What you will need to succeed

You will need experience of working with people with complex needs ideally in a supported or social housing setting and have the resilience to support people with a diverse range of mental health conditions to overcome barriers to independent living.

It is important that the right candidate is an excellent communicator, able to listen and understand people’s needs but also confident communicating and liaising with other local services and partner agencies to ensure each person has the right support in place.

An excellent working knowledge of safeguarding practices for protecting vulnerable people is also key to this role and the successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate proven experience of this.

Ideally, an understanding of the issues which arise within the social housing sector or experience working in a similar role would be an advantage.

You will need to be a good team player, with the ability to work well with others and be able to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision.

This is an essential car user role as it requires extensive travel to and from tenants’ properties in Lancashire.

We are recruiting a manager to lead Manchester Young Lives’ adventure play and youth work in Moss Side, Ardwick, Blackley, Moston and Harpurhey. We provide open access and targeted play and youth work activities. Our after-school adventure play provision is Ofsted registered and provides activities for 6-13 year olds. Our youth provision engages with young people aged 11+ after school and during the evenings, in centres and on the streets.

Our work enables often disadvantaged children and young people the opportunity to learn, develop and connect with their communities, build safe and supportive relationships with committed workers, and let off steam on our adventure playgrounds.

We are recruiting a Community Development Officer to engage key partners and stakeholders in the Yorkshire region tailoring support, training and education to create suicide safer communities. 

In this role you will be: 

• Identifying, developing and maintaining effective partnerships with local communities, volunteers and key partners across the region to engage them in the prevention of young suicide. 

• Proactively promoting suicide prevention including raising the profile of PAPYRUS and engaging with those personally affected by young suicide. 

• Equipping a wide range of stakeholders to enable them to create sustainable suicide safer communities through the provision of tailored support, training and education. 

• Delivering training and raising awareness of products to a variety of groups including professionals, parents, young people, volunteers and other trainers.

We are seeking a Fundraising Assistant at York Minster Fund for an initial fixed term contract of 12 months, commencing summer 2024. This part time, flexible role will support our team in administrative and fundraising tasks across a range of exciting activities and events, helping to raise funds for the Minster’s ongoing work.

York Minster Fund is the lead fundraising partner for York Minster. We are an independent organisation, with a separate board of Trustees, who work closely with colleagues across the Cathedral to secure income for a number of much needed projects and programmes of work. Established in 1967, as an emergency response to an urgent restoration project, we secure funds from charitable foundations, major and corporate donors, legacy donors, individuals and events. 

Our funds provide much needed income for a wide range of projects, including the fabric and repair of the iconic Minster itself, the training of apprentices in traditional heritage crafts and strategic initiatives such as the realisation of the Minster's new international Centre of Excellence for Heritage Skills and Estate Management. 

In the last year we have built on existing strong fundraising relationships and techniques to explore new ways of engaging donors and digital audiences and this is an exciting time to join the Fund as we move forward on a number of major projects. As part of our small but highly experienced team, no two days are the same and the role could see you supporting with many different projects and tasks including donor events administration and delivery, correspondence and research.

There is some flexibility for home working, but we do need regular office attendance for this role in York.

• Responsible for allocating cases within the team and analysing statistics and data in order to monitor daily caseloads against resources and look for trends/ pattern of behaviour
• Working with the Operations Manager to ensure delivery of the business plan and associated outcomes
• Responsible for capturing data and information to ensure the work of the team is outcome based and evidenced
• The subject matter expert for ASB within the service
• With key partners, developing mechanisms for identifying and referring those affected by ongoing and persistent ASB incidents and crimes, including those not engaged in criminal or civil law processes
• Completing DSO training to prioritise the safety of service users and ensure compliance with safeguarding policy
• Leading on delivery of training to local agencies, organisations and bodies to represent the service and increase knowledge and understanding of issues related to the ASB
• Contributing to and attending monitoring meetings with funders/commissioners and providing reporting when required
• Playing a lead role in developing VS’s ASB work at both local and national levels
• When the service requires, holding a small caseload providing high quality support to service users in line with VS policies and operating procedures.

The role is home-based within Devon and Cornwall and therefore is open to applicants who both live in this area and have access to an appropriately confidential space in which to work.  Regular travel within working hours will be expected across Devon and Cornwall to fulfil the role and travel expenses are paid.  Core service hours are between 9am – 5pm, with the expectation to flex to need where required, managed within flexible working arrangements.

About You

You will need:

• As this role involves regular travel across Devon and Cornwall and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement
• Experience of managing a team
• An understanding of confidentiality and safe working practice in accordance with safeguarding legislation, General Data Protection Regulation and other legal requirements
• Experience of effective delivery of services in the voluntary or statutory sector including complex case management and maintaining case management records
• The ability to build effective working relationships across internal and external stakeholders and work directly with in statutory, voluntary or multi agency settings
• High personal resilience to manage demands of working with ASB
• Competent IT and administrative skills including the use of Microsoft Office packages
• The ability to engage with vulnerable service users.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about youth workers being the best they can be and empowering them to be heard. You will achieve this through the delivery of our flagship leadership development program, Rise Up, funded by the Violence Reduction Unit.

As Programmes  Officer, you will be vital in the delivery of the Rise Up program, ensuring key milestones are met. You will support the day-to-day running of Rise Up by ensuring all practitioners are given clear guidance and support to engage fully with the program. You will also ensure key stakeholders such as the Violence Reduction Unit, youth workers, and the partnership are updated and supported to deliver the program.

We would love someone who understands the youth sector and what it means to be a frontline practitioner in London, especially in the context of violence impacting young people and communities. An excellent communicator, you’ll be able to share the vision of the programme to others and inspire support.
