Could you help more people discover the work of Shared Space and Church from Scratch? We’re looking for a creative, organised person to make engaging content that promotes our charity shops, shares stories from our community, celebrates our volunteers and publicises events and projects.

You’ll create content for social media and other communications, help keep our online presence up to date, and support events and local partnerships. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn how our charity shops operate and train to help cover store shifts.

About us

Shared Space and Church from Scratch bring people together through our Christian faith, charity shops and community activities. Our shops in Westcliff and Southchurch are places where people can volunteer, build confidence, develop skills and find connection. We welcome people from all walks of life, of any faith or none, and want everyone who comes through our doors to feel valued and included.

Location and working pattern: The role is based at our Westcliff shop and involves regular work at our Southchurch shop. You may also work at new Shared Space locations as we grow. We’ll agree your usual working days together, with some flexibility to attend events and occasionally work evenings or weekends. We ask for flexibility to help with operational needs across our shops and aim to offer flexibility in return when arranging your hours.

There are two possible routes into this role:

• Experienced candidate: 15 hours a week on an initial 18-month fixed-term contract.

• Apprentice: 25 hours a week on an initial 18-month fixed-term contract, working towards the Level 3 Content Creator apprenticeship with Apprentify. You’ll develop skills in content planning, social media, copywriting, branding, media production and understanding what content works. You’ll receive training during your paid working hours, with support from your line manager and the training provider.

What we offer: 33 days’ annual leave pro rata, which is five days more than the standard allowance, a pension and potential flexible working options. You’ll have the chance to use your creativity to make a difference in our local communities. 

We’re looking for someone who communicates warmly and clearly, enjoys working with people and shares our Christian ethos and commitment to welcoming everyone. We welcome applications through either route. The final appointment will depend on the successful candidate’s experience, qualifications and eligibility for the apprenticeship. Continuation beyond the initial contract will depend on organisational needs and funding.
