Direct Marketing Manager, European New Donors

Reporting to the Director of New Donor Engagement, the Direct Marketing Manager leads IFAW’s international new donor acquisition and global reactivation efforts. This role oversees the strategy and execution of IFAW’s direct mail and face-to-face fundraising for four European markets: Germany, France, UK and The Netherlands. This role also designs and executes strategies to re-engage long lapsed supporters in all markets. Collaborate with the digital acquisition team to amplify results and leverage the strategies to attract new donors and reactivate lapsed donors. The manager collaborates with internal teams and external vendors to ensure campaigns are delivered effectively and in alignment with organizational goals.
Role and Responsibilities
· Lead all facets of direct mail new donor acquisition and reactivation programs, including strategic planning, budget oversight, creative strategy, vendor management, and process optimization.
· Support and participate in direct response TV campaigns and leverage that strategy to amplify results in direct mail and face to face channels.
· Develop and implement country-specific acquisition and reactivation strategies to maintain or grow donor file size in alignment with departmental goals.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
· 5+ years of direct marketing experience, preferably within a nonprofit or fundraising context
· Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a track record of self-motivation, effective time management, and team development
· Proven success managing cross-functional teams and external vendors to execute complex projects on schedule and within scope
· Exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal, with a focus on clarity, persuasion, and donor engagement

We are recruiting a Fundraising Manager to act as the organisation’s operational lead for income generation. This is a part-time role (18–24 hours per week) with significant flexibility, ideal for someone who is organised, thoughtful, and motivated by building something meaningful.
The Fundraising Manager will manage and coordinate income across five strands: trusts and foundations, major donors, corporate foundations, individual and digital giving, and statutory funding. It hosts many of our wellbeing and creative programmes, and through initiatives like the Pay-What-You-Can Supper Club, supports emerging women chefs and builds everyday acts of care and solidarity. While it currently operates at a deficit, it plays a vital role in advancing our wellbeing and community objectives. We are now focused on realising its full commercial potential. A feasibility study is underway to explore a range of operational and business models that will transition the café into a sustainable, profit-making enterprise. Plans include expanding income-generating opportunities through hosting more events, developing an external catering offer, and maximising use of the space for private hire and functions during weekends. Room Hire – Spaces that Enable Collaboration and Impact
Our professional meeting and event spaces are used by charities, community groups, and corporate partners for workshops, training, and strategic planning. With over 500 bookings a year and a 89% return rate, these rooms are known for their quality, warmth, and service. The income they generate supports our wider mission, while also acting as a catalyst for new partnerships and collaborations.
We now aim to build on this success by increasing utilisation on our most popular days (Tuesday to Thursday) and attracting new clients to fill capacity on Mondays, Fridays, evenings, and weekends. Plans include developing loyalty packages for regular clients and introducing new offers such as team wellbeing days that align with our health and wellbeing ethos. This approach will not only maximise income potential but also strengthen The Bridge’s role as a space where organisations connect, collaborate, and thrive.
Key responsibilities:
1. Income Generation Strategy
· Develop and implement a comprehensive income generation strategy for our social businesses (women’s-only gym and studio, café, and meeting room hire).

INTRODUCTION
As set out in the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust’s 2025-30 Strategy, the NCN Directorate leads on the building of a walking, wheeling and cycling network that brings everyone closer to the places and people they love. The Directorate is organised into four distinct teams: Planning; Engagement; Delivery (England); Delivery (Scotland, Cymru and Northern Ireland). This role sits within the Delivery team in England. Regular travel will be required.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Team: Delivery/ England
In this role, you are a senior leader responsible for driving major portfolios and programmes that support the National Cycle Network. You work closely with the Head of Delivery for England to make sure projects are well‑managed, stay within budget, and are completed on time. Your work must align with the organisation’s strategy and business plan.
You provide strategic direction, oversee programmes and projects, plan effectively, and build strong relationships with partners. You also lead and support your team to ensure that the work is high‑quality and sustainable.

In this role, you will support organisations across Salford to develop high‑quality Live Well Centres and Spaces, ensuring strong partnerships are built and delivery partners are managed in a clear, transparent and collaborative way. A key part of the role will be ensuring that all delivery aligns with the expectations set out in the GM Live Well Hallmarks. As Programme Manager, you will lead a VCSE‑driven programme that is transforming how residents access help and support in Salford. You will maintain a clear overview of programme developments, partners and activities, acting as a key source of knowledge for Live Well locally. Your work will also span all of Salford CVS’s full Live Well portfolio, including the Economic Activity Trailblazer delivered via the VCSE Elevate Salford partnership, the WorkWell offer through Wellbeing Matters (VCSE-led social prescribing), and any additional Live Well activity that Salford CVS leads or contributes to in the future.
