The Deputy Director (Operations & Finance) is a new position in the organisation that will lead the day-to-day running of the organisation, bringing together operations, HR, governance, finance oversight and property management under clear, reliable leadership. Working closely with the Director and deputising in their absence, you will line-manage teams across finance, buildings, studios and administration, and act as Company Secretary to the Board of Trustees.
Beyond keeping the organisation running well, you will play a central role in what comes next including delivery of our 3–5-year strategic business plan, securing a permanent home for the charity, developing Not Another Art School as a scaled income stream, and supporting our pathway toward Arts Council England NPO status.
This is a hands-on, generalist leadership role. You will need to be equally comfortable reviewing a lease, running a Board meeting, troubleshooting an IT system and supporting a member of staff sometimes all in the same week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead governance and compliance acting as Company Secretary, coordinating Board activity, managing statutory filings, and overseeing health & safety, GDPR, and HR frameworks
- Oversee day-to-day operations across studios, galleries, offices, and project spacesLead on all HR processes recruitment, contracts, appraisals, and staff support for a team of ten
- Manage financial oversight alongside the Finance Manager: budgets, cash flow, management accounts, year-end, and funder reporting
- Develop and manage property relationships lease negotiations, landlord liaison, new site acquisition in line with agreed strategy
- Support fundraising applications and funder compliance, and contribute to building diversified income across earned revenue, trusts & foundations, and public funding
- Drive delivery of the strategic business plan, including NAAS development and ACE Illuminate audience data preparation
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You don't need to come from the arts sector, but you do need to be operationally excellent, values-driven, and genuinely excited by what TBFAF is becoming. We are looking for someone with strong experience running operations in a small organisation, solid understanding of governance and finance, confidence managing teams, and the breadth to hold a wide remit without dropping the ball.Experience in property or facilities management, HR management, and familiarity with fundraising applications are all desirable, alongside arts, charity, or cultural sector experience and experience working with Boards of Trustees.

About the programme: ABC Parents Programme
The ABC Parents Programme empowers parents from the most deprived wards in Enfield and Haringey to increase their confidence and improve appropriate use of services across health and social care through child health workshops and networks of peer-to-peer support for parents.
The programme is delivered in community venues by a range of staff working in children’s community health services and Child Health Champions. They are supported by multi-agency practitioners from the hospital, primary care and voluntary sectors in Enfield and Haringey.
The programme is delivered in partnership with North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust (NMUH), The Bridge Renewal Trust, Every Parent and Child, Public Health Haringey, NCL CCG and other local multi-sector agencies.
About the role: Child Health Community Champions
The Child Health Champions Lead will recruit and provide ongoing support to a small team of Child Health Community Champions (CHCC). This will include:
· Supporting professional development through carrying out training needs assessments of the CHCCs and identifying appropriate training
· Alongside the Project Coordinator, planning workshops incorporating CHCCs strengths
· Holding regular meetings and quarterly Wellbeing sessions with CHCCs
· Being responsible for the recruitment and deployment of creche workers where required
About you:
You will be an enthusiastic, motivated and caring individual who understands community engagement and has experience of successfully managing a community project and providing group leadership.
The Child Health Champions Lead will be employed by Every Parent & Child and will work as a member of the ABC Parents Program Team based at NMUH.
Duties/Responsibilities
1. Engaging Community Champions
· Actively recruit new Child Health Community Champions (CHCC) and support their training.
· Working with the CHCC, identify professional training needs, develop ideas through to delivery.
· Arrange regular meetings with the CHCC to provide support and seek feedback to support monitoring and the impact of their intervention.
· Liaise with the Project Co-ordinator in planning sessions/workshops, working to the strengths of the CHCC. The Child Health Champions Lead will be parent-facing, on-site at community sessions when required.
· To organise quarterly Wellbeing sessions for CHCC.
· To liaise with CHCC to manage their attendance at workshops.
· Regularly provide performance feedback to CHCC, supporting their professional development and maintaining motivation.
2. Development and Delivery of Workshops
· Attend and support all Health and Wellbeing workshops for Community Champions.
· Where appropriate, attend and/or support the workshops run by Community Champions.
· Maintain active communication with Creche workers, professionally responding to queries, and actively engaging in finding solutions to challenges.
· Where appropriate, to support the Project Co-ordinator with setting up the training room and resources, always observing Health and Safety risk to self and others.
· To maintain an accurate record of incidents arising at the workshops and report to the CEO and the ABC Parents Project Co-ordinator.
3. Engaging with Creche Workers
· Identify and recruit Creche workers, maintaining an active bank of workers on account.
· Liaise with Creche workers to ensure their attendance at workshops.
· To receive and verify invoices from Creche workers.
· To provide feedback to the Creche worker, thus ensuring they can respond effectively to the needs of the service.
4. Other Duties
· Complete DBS checks for all CHCC and to maintain accurate records.
· To understand, promote and implement Every Parent & Child’s equality policy, recognising social and cultural diversity in the delivery of services, management of facilities, contract management and staff/volunteer recruitment and management.
· To escalate Child Protection/Safeguarding concerns to the CEO and maintain an accurate record of all escalated concerns.
· To comply with the statutory provisions of all Health and Safety, associated legislations and all Trust policies and procedures, including commitment to ethical and environmentally sustainable practices.
· To be able to work flexible hours to meet service needs, including working some evenings and weekends.
· To work flexibly to meet the demands of the service.
· To undertake training relevant to the post.
· Constructively provide feedback on issues/concerns to the Project Co-ordinator and the CEO of Every Parent & Child.
· Undertake administration duties commensurate with the post.
· Contribute data regarding Champions activities for the quarterly reports and evaluation.
· Liaise with the Project Co-ordinator and the CEO of Every Parent & Child to produce data/reports as required for reporting purposes.
· Attend staff and other project-related meetings as necessary. These may be held over video and/or face-to-face in Enfield or Haringey.
· Maintain an updated mailing list, including, but not limited to, the Child Health Community Champions.
· Consistently demonstrate integrity and professionalism in carrying out the duties and be an ambassador for the service.

The Pepper Foundation is a local charity funding children’s hospice care at home, specialised play and family days for children living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The Community Fundraiser will be joining Pepper at an exciting time as we launch our new three-year fundraising strategy. Backed by committed investment and with full Board approval, we are delighted to be growing the charity to deliver sustainable income that directly supports local children and families with hospice care in the comfort of their own homes.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced relationship-builder to lead and grow community fundraising and challenge events activity, helping to raise vital income for The Pepper Foundation.
You will take ownership of a varied portfolio of community fundraising activity, building and developing relationships with volunteers, schools, clubs, local businesses and community groups, while also nurturing existing supporters and creating an excellent experience for everyone who engages with us. You will lead the day-to-day delivery of our community fundraising and challenge events activity, proactively identifying new opportunities, developing a strong pipeline of support and managing your portfolio to grow income and deepen engagement with The Pepper Foundation.
Hours: 30 hours per week (37.5hrs FTE) working from home - applicants must live within Hertfordshire or Buckinghamshire (or surrounding counties)
Salary: £25,600 pro-rata (£32,000 FTE)
Key Responsibilities:
Financial
• Deliver or exceed agreed income targets across community and challenge event fundraising activities.
• Manage agreed budgets for community fundraising activities and challenge events, monitoring income and expenditure and ensuring activity is delivered in line with agreed targets and plans.
• Ensure activities are delivered as cost-effectively as possible, monitoring expenditure and helping to maximise return on investment.
• Develop and refine fundraising products, activities and supporter experiences that put supporters at the centre of what we do and encourage long-term engagement.
• Develop and maintain a pipeline of community fundraising opportunities, identifying prospects, converting enquiries and building repeat support from individuals, groups and local organisations.
• Help convert one-off supporters and new enquiries into repeat fundraising relationships through strong stewardship, follow-up and tailored engagement.
Communication
• Build and develop strong long-term relationships with community groups, schools, clubs and individuals to increase awareness, support and donated income.
• Support and manage key fundraising volunteers to help deliver income and activities.
• Work with the Head of Fundraising and marketing partners to ensure community and challenge fundraising activities are promoted effectively through suitable online and offline channels.
• Confidently communicate the work of The Pepper Foundation and inspire support through a variety of channels, including informal conversations, networking, presentations, written materials, newsletters and website copy.
• Deliver a high standard of donor and supporter care to maximise fundraising potential and encourage long-term support.
• Contribute ideas and content for promotional materials within agreed budgets and timelines.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to broaden participation in community fundraising and increase supporter engagement across the region.
• Proactively identify, develop and secure new community fundraising opportunities with local schools, groups, businesses and supporters to grow income and broaden engagement.
• Ensure relevant staff and volunteers are well briefed on community fundraising activities.
• Always represent The Pepper Foundation positively and professionally.
• Communicate confidently with a wide range of supporters and stakeholders, handling queries and resolving issues in a calm and professional way.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the fundraising team to ensure community fundraising activity is aligned with the wider fundraising strategy and income goals.
Management
• Recruit, train, support and motivate fundraising volunteers to help deliver community fundraising activities and events.
• Manage relationships with external suppliers and partners, such as venues and event providers, to support successful delivery.
Planning and Organisation
• Develop and deliver activity, stewardship and campaign plans for community and challenge event fundraising within agreed priorities, budgets and income targets.
• Deliver high-quality fundraising events that raise awareness of The Pepper Foundation across Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.
• Use Donorfy, our fundraising CRM, to administer and manage fundraising activity accurately and effectively, working with the Database Volunteer as needed.
• Produce post-event evaluations and recommendations in line with agreed requirements.
• Use insight, pipeline information and performance data to review results, identify trends and recommend improvements to future activity.
• Manage the day-to-day planning and delivery of key events and campaigns, making decisions within agreed plans, budgets and fundraising procedures.
• Take responsibility for health and safety in community fundraising activities, ensuring appropriate risk assessments are completed and relevant fundraising and safety procedures are followed.
• Respond appropriately to unexpected incidents at community fundraising events, following agreed procedures and escalating where needed.
• Take an active role in setting up and clearing down events and community fundraising activities, including periods of standing and occasional unsocial hours.
• Arrange appropriate Pepper Foundation attendance at local community events when needed.
• Manage resources effectively, including volunteer support, to maximise reach, income and engagement.
Reporting
• Produce regular reports on pipeline, activity, outcomes, income performance and learning for the Head of Fundraising, highlighting opportunities, risks and recommendations.
