Volunteering and Foster Caring Manager is a new role at Mayhew, reflective of the importance of volunteering and foster caring in our ability to deliver our onward strategy and direction. This is a highly visible and important role for Mayhew. The postholder will be working across all teams with staff and volunteers, supporters, partners and members of the public.

This role requires an effective leader and manager, with practical subject matter expertise in volunteering good practice, strong organisational skills, and a drive, rooted in passion for both animal welfare and volunteering, to enable Mayhew to reach many more dogs and cats and pet owners who need us by cultivating a thriving, engaged and diverse volunteer base.

Staff and volunteers at Mayhew, particularly in animal facing and public facing roles have duties that can be physically and emotionally demanding, sometimes interfacing with dogs and cats and pet owners who are in distress and facing heart-breaking situations. • Lead on developing our onward volunteering strategy and plan
• Provide leadership and management of volunteering and foster caring at Mayhew
• Provide support, training and guidance to staff managing volunteers
• Lead on volunteer engagement and communication
• Engage a range of internal and external stakeholders including staff, volunteers, supporters and partners
• Collaborate with the Senior Management Team to ensure delivery of our strategic and operational goals

To be successful in this role, you need relevant experience:

• Working in a volunteering management role in a charity or other organisation of comparable breadth and scope
• Leading and living volunteer management best practice, including overseeing policies, procedures and guidance
• Owning and improving volunteering management processes

Job Description

• Administration & Systems Management

Managing supplies, equipment, and maintaining filing systems, records, and CRM database. Engage with and support running The Circle’s current operational systems, including Beacon CRM, Quickbooks, 1Password, Breathe HR, Microsoft 365 (including Microsoft Teams & SharePoint), FreshPay, Stripe, PayPal, Mailchimp, Wordpress, etc. Continue to develop and update systems.

• HR & Volunteer Support

Assisting with staff onboarding/offboarding, managing recruitment; Lead on health & safety, including having staff undertake regular risk assessments for home working and electronic device safety; ·

• Finance Support

Processing invoices, expenses, donations, and assisting with budget tracking. Management of monthly reconciliation with QuickBooks. Submission of Gift Aid claims and donation tracking using Beacon CRM

Organizing team meetings, Board meetings, away days, overseas travel and coordinating event logistics.

As Helpline Care Navigator (HCN), you will act as the first point of contact for individuals, families and health professionals across the North and North East region.

You will deliver compassionate, person-centred support and clear, practical information via telephone and email, ensuring people affected by PSP & CBD feel heard, informed and supported at every stage of their journey. Alongside direct support, you will actively engage with health and social care professionals, neurology clinics and wider partners to strengthen local awareness of PSP & CBD and enhance referral pathways across the region.

This is a key role in maintaining continuity, quality and momentum within our Helpline service during a period of maternity leave and you will be reporting to the Helpline and Support Services Manager.

Hours of Work & Annual Leave

• 35 hours per week -  this may include working some unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• To be ‘first point of call’ for people with PSP & CBD and their families living in North and Northeast region including, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire, Cumbria, North Yorkshire, Tyne & Wear & Northumberland. Providing people with support and information over the phone and via email.
• To raise awareness of PSP & CBD across all health and social care disciplines in the region by engaging with HSCP’s and neurology clinics.
• To provide accurate information in all aspects of PSP & CBD in response to enquiries and signpost onto other organisations where appropriate.
• Ensure a maximum response to all helpline calls, emails and enquires.
• To keep clear and accurate records and statistics of enquires received and actions taken.
• To carry out a maximum number of proactive calls to people affected by PSP & CBD within the region as directed by the Helpline Manager.

About Chapter One 

Chapter One is a small but growing charity, working to ensure that every child has 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme currently supports about 3,500 children a year. It pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 180 local and national businesses. The volunteer task is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

About the role 

Chapter One is seeking a proactive, energetic and enthusiastic Corporate Partnerships Officer to be an integral part of a team which aims to both maximise corporate income and deliver an excellent partner experience. 

Reporting to our Corporate Partnerships Manager, but also working closely with our Business Development Manager, you’ll support them both to deliver our annual volunteer targets and maintain our strong partner retention rate (currently 84%). This will involve supporting the account management of a portfolio of existing partners and the responsibility to nurture relationships to increase partner investment in Chapter One over time. The role involves collaborating across departments to ensure a seamless and positive experience for volunteers and partners.

This is a new role within Chapter One and is an opportunity for an early career professional to learn about charity-business partnerships in a dynamic, small charity which is flexible and agile.

Key Responsibilities 

Partner Stewardship

• As determined by the Corporate Partnerships Manager, lead the account management of a selected portfolio of corporate partners, achieving annual retention and growth targets for these partnerships.

• Focus, in all corporate partnership discussions, on maximising income and identifying opportunities to grow a partner’s support.

• Plan and conduct a regular cycle of partnership meetings, including mid and end of year reviews, proactively seeking out new opportunities that will maximise income and retain and grow partner support. 

• Support the Corporate Partnerships Manager to produce high quality written communications, reports and pitches as per the requirements of each partner, collaborating with the Data and Systems Officer and other teams as needed.

• Advocate effectively, with passion and enthusiasm, for Chapter One’s programmes in a variety of internal and external settings.

• Ensure, in conjunction with the HR and Finance Assistant, that partners are invoiced for their Chapter One donations accurately and in a timely manner. 

Partner/Volunteer Onboarding and Experience

• Work closely with the Corporate Partnerships Manager, Head of Corporate Partnerships and Volunteer Support Team to ensure that partner and volunteer onboarding is a smooth and positive experience. 

• Lead volunteer recruitment meetings as requested by partners, including presenting the programme to prospective volunteers and creating excitement and interest. 

• Alongside the Corporate Partnerships Manager, use internal systems to assign partner teams and volunteers to specific schools and ensure that their needs are met.

• Build proactive, supportive relationships with Volunteer Coordinators across partner organisations, providing timely, high-quality data and insights, and delivering an excellent partner experience to foster long lasting relationships.

• Working with Programme Manager team, Volunteer Support Team and IT team, to trouble shoot any issues arise. 

• Support the Programme Management team to liaise with partner contacts about the organisation of in-person school/office visits and virtual meet and greets.

• Attend Chapter One’s internal Volunteer Experience group and Corporate Engagement Group.

Marketing and Communications

• Work with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure that companies and volunteers have access to an array of promotional assets and recruitment materials

• Contribute content for the regular volunteer and corporate partner newsletters, including working with partners to gather volunteer testimonials and partner profiles

• Encourage corporate partners and volunteers to promote Chapter One through their own social media and channels

• Support the organisation of online and in person partner and volunteer recognition events

General

• Oversee and maintain specific Account Management related processes, including stewardship plans, recording of activity on the Salesforce CRM and internal spreadsheets and platform databases

• Regularly use Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets to analyse data and support decision-making

• Conduct administrative duties as required to support the Head of Corporate Partnerships and Corporate Partnerships Manager

• Attend conferences and events to represent Chapter One and talk about its work to existing and potential new partners

TALK Surrey CIO is a small local charity dedicated to supporting people affected by stroke and aphasia, an acquired language and communication difficulty. About you

Working within the communications and marketing team, you'll be confident in managing our social media accounts (we have many), ensuring we're using platforms to get our messages out to both wide and targeted audiences with engaging and timely content.

You'll be happy using tools for social listening, interacting with our audiences and building our reach. You'll be familiar with key metrics for social engagement and will be reporting back to colleagues and other stakeholders - and using this data to constantly improve our communications.

You'll be skilled in writing longer form content for our members' magazine, Caring, proof reading articles, posting content on our websites, creating graphics and making sure our content is engaging, audience focused and dynamic. Oh, and you probably know your way around an emoji set and are not scared of a well timed pun. We're a small but effective communications team and pride ourselves on getting stuck in and supporting each other when we need to deliver big on fast moving projects, so you'll need be able to juggle lots of demands while recognising the importance of always hitting deadlines.

What the job involves

As part of our Customer Engagement and Experience team, you’ll play a key role in delivering an exceptional supporter experience, from ordering shop items and receiving fulfilment materials to ensuring Gift Aid contributions are processed accurately and securely.

This job share role combines operational ownership, relationship management and compliance oversight. You’ll be trusted to run essential day-to-day activity and improve the systems that sit behind them.

You’ll build and manage strong relationships with fulfilment suppliers, holding them accountable to KPIs and ensuring materials are delivered accurately and on time. You’ll also manage the day-to-day running of our online shop, including product development, stock forecasting, supplier coordination and performance monitoring.

You’ll keep fulfilment operations running efficiently by identifying improvements, resolving bottlenecks and making sure teams across the charity have what they need. Alongside this, you’ll take ownership of Gift Aid administration, ensuring claims are accurate, compliant with HMRC requirements and supported by clear audit trails.

By monitoring Gift Aid performance, you’ll analyse trends and recommend improvements, keeping internal teams informed and skilled in best practice. You’ll also support Fundraising teams with compliance checks, offering guidance and helping to resolve any issues quickly and effectively.

In addition, you’ll oversee monthly stock reconciliations and financial reporting for shop activity, ensuring accuracy and supporting informed decision-making. You’ll work closely with colleagues across digital, operations, marketing and customer experience to deliver a seamless, joined-up supporter journey.

Help tackle loneliness among older people in care homes

Thousands of older people living in care homes receive few or no visitors. Friends for Life Bedford exists to change that.

Through our befriending and group activities, we bring companionship, connection and meaningful relationships to care home residents across Bedfordshire.

We are now looking for a Volunteer Co-ordinator to help more recruit, train and support the volunteers who make our work possible.

About Friends for Life Bedfordshire

We are a Bedford-based charity working to address the social isolation of older residents in Bedfordshire’s care homes.

Founded in 2007, we have grown from a small local initiative to a registered charity with c90 volunteers supporting more than 30 care homes across Bedford Borough. In the last year, over 1,100 care home residents received our services.

The Role

You will play a key operational role in ensuring our volunteer-led services run smoothly, safely and effectively.

Working closely with the Volunteer Lead, you will help recruit, train, support and retain volunteers, ensuring they feel confident, valued and equipped to deliver both befriending and activity-based services.

In addition, you will co-ordinate and manage our programme of group activities, working with care homes and activity volunteers to make sure residents experience high‑quality, meaningful sessions every week.
