Job description

Home-Start HOST is seeking enthusiastic and community-focused Family Navigators to join an exciting partnership with Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council’s Family Hubs programme. We currently have four Full-time Equivalent Family Navigator vacancies available across Oldham’s Family Hub districts.   We will consider candidates who wish to apply on a part-time or job-share basis.

As a Family Navigator, you will work directly with families, helping them understand and access the wide range of support available across Oldham. From Family Hubs and community groups to specialist services, you will help families build confidence, overcome barriers, and connect with the support they need.

This is a practical, people-centred role combining outreach, peer support, community engagement and partnership working. You’ll spend time in local communities, schools, libraries, clinics and Family Hubs, building relationships and ensuring families feel welcomed, included and heard.

We’re looking for applicants who:

  • Have experience supporting children, parents or families.
  • Understand the challenges families can face and are passionate about improving outcomes for children.
  • Know Oldham’s communities and value the importance of local connections.
  • Are warm, approachable and able to engage confidently with a diverse range of families and partners.
  • Have good safeguarding awareness.
  • Are confident using digital tools, social media and online communication.

We welcome applications from diverse communities
We are committed to building a workforce that reflects the diversity of the families we serve across Oldham and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly encourage applications from candidates who are bilingual or multilingual, especially those who speak community languages commonly used across Oldham, including Urdu, Bengali, Punjabi, Arabic, Polish and Kurdish.

We also welcome applications from people with lived experience of the communities we support and from individuals who share our commitment to improving outcomes for children and families.
