​Brief role description 

​Working within our Communications team, you will play a central role in strengthening the charity’s public profile by supporting the delivery of media activity across national, regional, trade and specialist media that showcase the impact of the charity’s services. You will identify newsworthy opportunities, write press releases, pitch stories to journalists and support the delivery of integrated communications campaigns.

​A significant part of the role will involve finding, developing and sharing the stories of the people we support. You will interview veterans, service leavers, military spouses and employers, turning their experiences into engaging content for media features, website articles, case studies, social media campaigns, stakeholder communications and funding reports.

​This role suits someone with strong news instincts, excellent skills at developing press releases, pitches and statements and the confidence to manage multiple priorities at once. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, varied working environment, be full of creative ideas and know how to unearth stories that bring our services to life. 

Who we're looking for

We're looking for an experienced communications, PR or media professional with a proven track record of securing coverage across print, broadcast and online media. You'll have experience working in a press office, communications or journalism environment and be confident handling media enquiries and building positive relationships with journalists and other stakeholders.

You'll be a strong writer who can produce engaging press releases, statements, media briefings and other content for a range of audiences. You'll have a good understanding of what makes a compelling news story, experience creating impactful content, and the ability to turn complex information into clear and engaging communications. You'll also be comfortable using media monitoring and evaluation to understand what is working and help shape future activity.

The Church of England Pensions Board provides retirement services to those who serve or work for the Church. We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Performance Lead to join our new team, taking responsibility for evaluating the impact and effectiveness of the Financial Wellbeing service. You will lead performance reporting, team governance, planning cycles and risk management, ensuring the service is well run, accountable and continuously improving. A critical part of this role includes business case development, for future services.

As Performance Lead, you will be the integrator and operational anchor for the Financial Wellbeing service ensuring we have the right governance, planning cycles, KPIs and performance reporting in place to run an effective, accountable and high impact service.

This includes assessing service delivery against our strategic goals, and building up a good picture of future demand for the Board's in retirement services, especially retirement housing.

This role is both analytical and operational: you will ensure the service has a clear view of its performance while also shaping the processes, rhythms and governance structures that keep the team aligned and effective. You will work closely with the Insight & Data Analyst Lead to ensure performance reporting is robust, with Finance and Strategy on investment/business case design and business planning, and with Audit & Risk to ensure compliance and assurance.

Ultimately, your work will ensure the service is well run, transparent, and able to demonstrate its impact to Trustees, senior leaders and the wider Church.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You will:

Performance, Monitoring & Evaluation

• Lead the monitoring and evaluation framework for the service, ensuring KPIs and impact measures are meaningful, accurate and aligned to strategic objectives. Developing the framework as required.
• Produce regular performance reports for the PB Executive and Trustees, ensuring clarity, insight and ownership across the financial wellbeing team. Ensure performance reporting is timely, consistent and aligned with organisational standards.
• Collaborate with Financial Wellbeing colleagues to ensure data is interpreted effectively and used to drive improvements.
• Develop and recommend new KPIs or impact assessment measures where needed to strengthen understanding of service effectiveness.
• Collaborate with the Head of Customer Service, service leads and Regional Advisers to ensure performance monitoring is embedded across the team.
• Ensure the Financial Wellbeing service has a clear, accurate and up to date view of projected clergy retirement housing needs,. Owning the collaboration between financial wellbeing and Housing colleagues to develop and maintain shared datasets and planning models.
• Ensure the customer voice is central to and ingrained in any planning, service evaluation and decision making for the financial wellbeing services.
• Liaise with wider Pension Board and NCI colleagues to ensure Financial Wellbeing service delivery is imbedded in organisation wide feedback mechanisms

Governance & Planning

• Set up, manage and refine governance structures for the team, including the rhythm of team meetings, project boards (where needed) and stakeholder forums.
• Support Director in the annual business planning and objective setting processes within the financial wellbeing team, working with Strategy and Finance colleagues to ensure alignment with the broader organisational cycle.
• Coordinate the development of investment cases for future funding, working closely with Finance, Strategy, and Housing colleagues.
• Maintain forward plans, calendars and governance documentation to support effective and proactive oversight and decision making.
• Ensure the service meets audit, risk and compliance requirements.
• Provide briefings and updates to senior leaders and for governance forums (such housing committee and project boards) including drafting papers and reports.
• Promote a culture of good governance and continuous improvement.

Risk Management & Assurance

• Lead risk identification and management for the service, working to NCI guidance.
• Maintain the service risk register and ensure risks are escalated appropriately.
• Coordinate internal audits with Audit & Risk teams and support Finance on external audits.
• Ensure audit recommendations are tracked, owned and implemented.
• Work with Head of Customer services to ensure appropriate business continuity plans in place for the service

Problem solving and continuous improvement

• Support the Director as a de facto Chief of Staff, helping troubleshoot operational issues and ensuring smooth running of the service.
• Identify opportunities to improve governance, planning and performance processes.
• Ensure lessons learned from audits, performance reviews and feedback loops are embedded.
• Promote a strong performance culture across the team.
• Stay abreast of best practice in governance, impact measurement and performance management.

About You

• Strong understanding and proven experience of governance in regulated and/or charity environments.

Overview

The role will provide high-quality administrative, systems, and research support to the Quality Team, enabling consistent quality assurance across the grant-making cycle. The postholder will administer and improve the team’s Salesforce processes and data standards, coordinate key workflows and information management, support the Director of Quality, Quality Assurance Specialist and Impact (MEAL) Coordinator with scheduling and documentation, and deliver defined research tasks and short projects (e.g., into quality assurance approaches, MEAL frameworks, tools and best practice) to strengthen the team’s work.

Key internal relationships: Director of Quality; Quality Assurance Specialist; Impact (MEAL) Specialist; Regional Directors, Programme Managers and Project Officers; ICPO; Finance; Data/Systems owners.

Key Responsibilities

Salesforce administration and systems support

• Administer the Quality/Projects components of Salesforce (and associated tools), including user support, data standards, fields/picklists, basic configuration tasks within delegated permissions, and documentation of processes.
• Maintain data quality rules and routines (validation, required fields, definitions, and guidance) and run regular data quality checks, working with colleagues to resolve issues.
• Produce and maintain reports/dashboards for the Quality Team (e.g., pipeline status, stage-gate progress, approvals, conditions, timeliness, data completeness, and quality metrics).
• Log, triage, and coordinate Salesforce improvement requests, liaising with system owners/IT and supporting user testing and roll-out of updates.
• Create and maintain user guidance (how-to notes, short training materials) to support consistent use of Salesforce and associated quality workflows

Administrative support to the Quality Director and team coordination

• Support the Quality Assurance and Impact (MEAL) Specialists with planning timetables, collating papers, maintaining decision/action logs, and following up actions with stakeholders.
• Prepare and format documents to agreed standards (templates, document control, version control) and maintain an audit-ready filing system in SharePoint (or equivalent).

·Coordinate team processes, including shared calendars, team meetings, process documentation, and communications that help the Quality Team operate consistently.

Research and special projects (Quality assurance, MEAL and learning)

• Undertake defined research tasks to support the Quality Team’s priorities (e.g., QA approaches in grant-making, MEAL frameworks and tools, file review methodologies, sampling approaches, learning loops, and good practice in documentation and audit trails).
• Produce short research summaries/briefings with practical recommendations for the Director of Quality and Specialists, including options, pros/cons, and implications for Barnabas processes.
• Support discreet improvement projects (e.g., updating templates/checklists, improving guidance, piloting a new dashboard or QA tool) and track actions to implementation.

·Maintain a small library of standards, templates, guidance, and reference materials (including MEAL and QA resources) for the team.

Pre-Committee Proposal Scrutiny

·Formal review of all project proposals before submission to the projects subcommittee to improve quality by ensuring:

oProposals are internally consistent;

oProposed solutions credibly meet the identified needs;

oThe response is proportionate and broadly consistent with other Barnabas Aid projects of a similar nature;

oBeneficiary selection is conducted appropriately and can be justified;

oThe proposal is strategically aligned, represents good value-for-money and meets all of Barnabas Aid’s project policies;

oRelevant harms have been considered and mitigated;

oA proportionate M&E approach is in place;

oPrudent but pragmatic financial arrangements (e.g. split into tranches, use of intermediaries) are adopted and justified.

·In conjunction with regional teams, undertake light editing of proposals to improve clarity and correct inconsistencies and typographical errors.

·Document checks to ensure all due diligence activities have been conducted before proposal is put to the subcommittee.

Post-Committee Follow-up

·Track actions provided by committee to ensure projects fully implement committee decisions (e.g. splitting into tranches, reporting requirements, risk management, etc)

·Draft, for regional team’s approval, project approval/project rejection letters to partners, including all relevant provisions for management of the grants.

Compliance, confidentiality, and continuous improvement

• Handle sensitive information responsibly, ensuring appropriate confidentiality, data protection, and information security practices are applied.

·Support the Quality Team to evidence required checks and maintain consistent records across systems and files, raising risks or gaps as appropriate.

·Experience administering or providing ‘super-user’ support for a CRM/database (preferably Salesforce), including maintaining data standards and producing reports/dashboards.

·Experience with document control and shared filing systems (e.g SharePoint), including version control and maintaining audit-ready records.

·Experience undertaking structured research tasks and producing clear summaries/recommendations for non-specialist audiences.

·Highly organised with strong attention to detail; able to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholders.

As local campaigning lead in our award-winning public affairs and campaigns team, you will play a pivotal role in driving Sands’ mission to save babies’ lives and ensure bereaved families receive the care and support they need.

You will need experience of delivering and evaluating impactful campaigns, and of working in close partnership with those with lived experience to create meaningful, lasting change at a local or national level.

This is a dynamic, outward-facing role that combines strategic campaigning with hands-on community organising. You will have the skills to support and develop a network of local campaigners, empowering volunteers and supporters to take action in their communities, influence decision-makers, and improve services over the long term. You will also feel comfortable representing Sands at a local level, developing strong relationships to amplify the organisation’s voice and impact.

Working collaboratively across the organisation, you will ensure campaigns are evidence-based, inclusive, and shaped by the lived experiences of diverse bereaved families. You will create compelling content and digital actions, support media engagement, and use data and insight to evaluate impact and continuously strengthen our approach.

Main Purpose of Job 

To lead Sands’ local campaigning function.

Co-lead impactful campaigns at a local and devolved nation level with bereaved parents and families, supporting Sands core aims to save babies lives and ensure anyone affected by the death of a baby receives the care and support they need by:

1. Leading the implementation and evaluation of Sands local campaigns to further our core aims.

2. Developing the capacity of Sands local volunteers, supporters and campaigners to take action to improve their local services in the long-term.

3. Ensuring that Sands campaigns are evidence based and reflect the views and experiences of a diverse range of bereaved parents and families.

Principle Tasks and Responsibilities 

Leading implementation, and evaluation of Sands local campaigns to further Sands core aims.

• Lead local campaigns at Sands in line with our local campaigning strategy, collaborating and planning with key internal stakeholders, and staying up to date with best practise in local campaigning and community organising techniques externally.
• Evaluate the success of the local campaigns with internal and external stakeholders, implementing recommendations for future improvement.
• Work with colleagues to grow Sands’ local campaigning presence across the UK, including supporting funding applications to build staff capacity.
• Manage the budget for local campaigning.
• Represent Sands at a local level, attending meetings, and building relationships, with local politicians, NHS and council officials, journalists, third sector organisations, and other local stakeholders.
• Produce engaging campaigns content for use digitally across different platforms and in hard copy, working with the engagement team to ensure asks are effectively communicated to key audiences.
• Create compelling e-actions to support our campaigns using the Sands digital campaigning platform.
• Work with colleagues to support the production of press releases and responses to media inquiries.
• Organise campaigns meetings and events (virtual or in person).
• Recruit and line manage local campaigns staff, supporting and collaborating with them to roll out impactful local campaigns in more areas (subject to future funding).

Developing the capacity of Sands volunteers, supporters, and campaigners to take action to improve their local services in the long-term. 

• Manage local campaign groups of bereaved parents and families, empowering and motivating them to implement campaigns to solve issues that affect them and create long-term change in their communities.
• Using community organising techniques to build the capacity of local campaigners and groups to campaign independently in the long-term – connecting local people, facilitating workshops and discussions, developing local campaign leaders, and recruiting new members into campaigns.
• Work collaboratively with teams working with Sands supporters and volunteers to maximise the impact of our campaigns, including supporting the creation of effective campaign supporter journeys.
• Create written and visual resources to support campaigning.
• Develop training sessions to build campaigning skills, to be delivered online or in person, or recorded.
• Provide advice and support to Sands campaigners via email, telephone and video call.
• Ensure key data and information about Sands campaigns and our campaigners are up to date and stored in the relevant place, including the Sands database.

Ensure that Sands campaigns are evidence based and reflect the views and experiences of a diverse range of bereaved parents and families.

· Undertake evidence gathering projects to support Sands campaigns work, including collating and analysing data and presenting findings in an accessible and engaging way.

· Ensure that the views of bereaved parents and families inform Sands campaigns and provide opportunities for Sands volunteers to get involved in our campaigning activity.

· Provide direct support to bereaved parents to help them become confident campaigners, so they are well informed, equipped to speak out and know how to go about it.

General tasks 

· Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role as required by the Head of Public Affairs and Campaigns and the Director of Research, Education and Policy.

· Model the culture and values of Sands at all times.

About the role

In the four years since Martingale launched, we have now supported over 200 Scholars to undertake postgraduate degrees across our thirteen partner universities.

As Martingale grows, we are building our policy and advocacy function to shape the future of postgraduate access, affordability and outcomes. We are seeking a rigorous, proactive and collaborative Policy Manager to drive the monitoring, insight and evaluation that underpin our influence, and to support the development and implementation of our policy positions and stakeholder engagement.

Reporting to the Head of Communications and External Engagement, you will lead Martingale’s policy tracking, political intelligence, evidence generation, and evaluation and learning. You will turn a fast-moving external landscape into clear, actionable insight, and produce the evidence, analysis and draft materials that enable the Head and CEO to position Martingale credibly with funders, universities, the sector and government.

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role with significant autonomy. You will own workstreams end-to-end, build systems and processes where they do not yet exist, and influence more senior colleagues and stakeholders. You will sit at the centre of a landmark research and policy programme and help deliver a campaign to implement the recommendations from Martingale’s major HESA-based research partnership, making the case that talent, not background, should determine who progresses to and thrives in postgraduate study.

Key Responsibilities:

You will lead on monitoring and insight, and on evaluation and learning. You will support the Head of Communications and External Engagement on policy position development; consultations, briefings and submissions; and policy and stakeholder engagement and convening.

Monitoring and Insight

• Lead Martingale’s policy tracking and horizon scanning across legislative and regulatory developments, research funding policy, labour market and skills policy, and higher education sector developments relevant to postgraduate access, affordability and outcomes.
• Gather and synthesise political insights to anticipate risks and opportunities, briefing the Head and CEO on what is changing, why it matters to Martingale, and how we should respond.
• Lead the generation of evidence - coordinating, analysing and interpreting data and research (including Martingale’s HESA-based research and partner analysis) to underpin our policy positions and external narrative.
• Build and maintain trackers, briefings and knowledge systems that make insights from across government and higher education accessible, timely and actionable across the team.

Evaluation and Learning

• Lead the monitoring and evaluation of Martingale’s policy and advocacy activity, defining what success looks like and setting clear measures to track progress against our objectives.
• Establish and run learning cycles that capture what is and is not working, feeding insight back into strategy, planning and delivery.
• Own evaluation tools and reporting, ensuring activity is measured against clear objectives and that impact is demonstrable to colleagues, the Board and funders.
• Coordinate with the Programmes Team to leverage lessons and insights from our engagement with scholars to shape our policy work.

Policy Position Development

• Support the Head in developing Martingale’s policy positions for both government and higher education stakeholders, translating evidence into clear, credible and mission-aligned policy asks.
• Draft and refine policy content, ensuring positions are intellectually rigorous, well-evidenced and consistent with Martingale’s voice and values.

Consultations, Briefings and Submissions

• Draft consultation responses, briefings, submissions and other policy materials for the Head and CEO to own and represent in external forums.
• Coordinate inputs across the team and with partners to deliver high-quality, accurate and timely products to deadline.
• Help ensure Martingale’s policy activity complies with charity law and Charity Commission guidance on campaigning and political activity, escalating issues as appropriate.

Policy and Stakeholder Engagement and Convening

• Manage the planning and delivery of Martingale’s stakeholder engagement, including roundtables and convenings.
• Maintain the stakeholder engagement register, tracking relationships, mapping sector and geographic coverage, and identifying gaps and opportunities.
• Build and steward day-to-day relationships with stakeholders across government, academia, research councils, funders, learned societies and partner organisations to advocate for our mission, escalating to the Head and CEO where appropriate.

• Work closely with the Head of Communications and External Engagement, providing the monitoring, insight, evidence, drafting and evaluation that underpin Martingale’s external positioning and influence.

Key Requirements:

Experience and skills

Essential

• Demonstrable experience in policy, public affairs, research or analysis, ideally within a mission-driven organisation.
• Strong understanding of the UK education, social mobility and/or research funding landscape, including the roles of bodies and organisations such as UKRI, Universities UK, Department for Education and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
• Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise complex policy and evidence into clear, accessible insight.
• Outstanding written communication, with the ability to produce high-quality briefings, consultation responses and policy materials for senior and external audiences.
• The ability to distil complex topics into compelling arguments for a range of audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Grants Manager to deliver our evolving grants and capacity building provision to the youth sector; bringing together our work to ensure a streamlined offer

It's a Tuesday afternoon in a school hall in Luton. Multiple Year 9s are sitting in a loose circle, arms crossed, faces doing that thing teenagers do when they've decided nothing is going to impress them. Twenty minutes later, one of them- a boy who hasn't said a word in class all term, according to his form tutor- is on his feet, mid-sentence, telling the room what he actually wants to do with his life. That shift has happened because his Yes Futures coach believed in him, and in turn he now believes in himself.

Who we are

Yes Futures is a youth coaching charity. We put professional coaches in front of young people who would otherwise never get that kind of one-to-one belief and challenge: leadership coaches, life coaches and executive coaches, the kind normally hired by boardrooms. Our flagship programme, Rising Futures, works in secondary schools, where teachers choose the students they believe will gain most from it. That looks different in every school. It might be a student whose confidence has dipped, or one who has never once put their hand up in class. What we give them is the same: someone whose whole job is to believe in them, and the tools to start believing in themselves. 

The programme combines one-to-one coaching with experiential learning days: from pitching product ideas inside a real company on a World of Work day to raft building and rock climbing on an Into the Wild day; experiences many of our students would never otherwise get.

Introduction to the role

• Reporting to: Director of Programme
• Contract Type: Fixed term (6 months, with a genuine prospect of extension into a longer or permanent role, based on performance and demand)
• Start Date: 1st September 2026 or sooner
• Salary: £33,500-£37,000 (negotiable within this range) +5% employer pension contribution
• Working Hours: Full-time preferred; part-time considered depending on location and travel (see below) 
• Location and working pattern: Hybrid (Roughly 20% home-based, 10% office-based, 70% travel across partner schools) 
• Travel: The role will require travel across our partner schools and colleges in London and the South East. Currently this is as far west as Reading, south as South London, north as Luton, east as Essex.
  • ​You don't need to be able to cover the whole patch. If you can only serve some of these areas, apply anyway. Depending on where our strongest candidates are based, we may take on more than one person, including part-time, to split the geography between them.

This is not term-time only. It runs across the full contract, not just school terms.

Role purpose

The Programme Delivery Coordinator will be the person on the ground making Rising Futures actuallyhappen: in the room with young people, out on the experiential days that take the programme beyond the classroom, alongside our coaches, and in the relationships with schools that keep everything running. You'll combine direct delivery with the coordination and follow-through that turns a good session into a programme that holds together over months.

There will also be ad hoc demands beyond the core programme- this is a role for someone comfortable with a bit of unpredictability, not a fixed routine.

Key Responsibilities- What you’ll be doing

Delivery

• Deliver Rising Futures sessions and workshops directly in schools, working closely with students, educators and coaches

• Act as the main point of contact for your assigned school cohorts, keeping communication sharp and things running smoothly

• Plan and deliver our experiential learning days: World of Work days inside real employers, and Into the Wild days of outdoor challenge at activity centres

• Support monitoring and evaluation of impact: collecting data and feedback that actually gets used, not filed away

• Capture photos and videos of delivery in action for our reporting and communications

Coaches and relationships

• Support recruitment, selection and onboarding of coaches and volunteers

• Keep coaches equipped and confident to deliver high-quality sessions

• Build and maintain strong relationships with partner schools- the kind that make a partner school want to work with us again next year

Making it run

• Coordinate the logistics of delivery: scheduling, materials, venues

• Keep safeguarding and health and safety front of mind, always

• Handle the administrative side of delivery- records and reporting done properly, not as an afterthought

Who we're looking for

Forget the standard checklist for a moment. What we actually need is someone who can walk into a room of thirty teenagers who don't know you and don't owe you their attention, and have most of them leaning in within five minutes.

If you've done that before- as a teacher, youth worker, coach, facilitator, performer, anything- you probably already know whether this is you.

Person specification 

Essential

• Experience delivering programmes or workshops to young people in educational or youth development settings

• An ability to quickly establish effective relationships based on trust and respect with both children and adults, both within a group setting and one-to-one

• Excellent communication with a wide range of stakeholders: young people, school staff, parents, coaches, volunteers and employer partners, adjusting your style for each

• A proactive, flexible attitude- things will change, and you'll adapt without losing momentum

• Strong organisation and time management- comfortable holding several moving parts at once

• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team

• A passion for Yes Futures' work and a drive to increase the charity's reach

• Willing and able to travel across London and the South East as required, including travelling independently to schools with equipment and resource suitcases

• Proficient computer use, including word processing, spreadsheets and video conferencing

Desirable

• Understanding of safeguarding policy and best practice with young people

• Experience coordinating or administering youth programmes

• Familiarity with impact measurement and programme evaluation

• A keen interest and up-to-date knowledge in education matters and issues affecting young people
