Responsibilities of our Health and Safety Officer:
- Conduct in-person health & safety and fire risk assessments across centres and shops, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal policies

About the Health & Safety and Environment team:
The team manages most Health and Safety functions in-house and works closely with departments across Cats Protection. It includes a head of department, senior officer, environment and sustainability lead, administrator, and four regional officers covering the UK. The team supports retail outlets, Cat Centres, accident investigations, DSE, and branch volunteer enquiries.
What we’re looking for in our Health and Safety Officer:

- NEBOSH general certificate (or equivalent) and membership of a relevant professional body
- Significant experience (3+ years post qualification) in a similar health & safety role, ideally in public sector, facilities, or charity setting
- Experience working across multiple sites

Finance

About you
You are a passionate and experienced funding specialist, with a proven track record in fundraising from key UK donors – including solid experience of commercial bidding and FCDO frameworks, trusts and foundations and corporate donors. You will have the ability to lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams during proposal preparation, working with partners and colleagues in multiple locations. You have experience in and very good understanding of programme design and meeting institutional and corporate donor requirements. You have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 💡 About the Role
You’ll join our cross-functional team to build and improve the digital platforms that teachers and pupils rely on every day. Working closely with product managers, software engineers, designers, researchers, and curriculum specialists to ensure our products are high-quality, reliable, and user-friendly.
This is a hands-on role focused on validating features from a user perspective, refining definitions through a QA lens, and exploratory testing across our digital platforms. You'll also help champion a culture of quality and contribute to Oak’s values and wider success.
🔧 What You’ll Be Doing
Validating product behaviour of new features from a user perspective and improving feature definitions by providing a QA perspective.
Communicating and promoting quality as a culture across the engineering, design and product functions.
Exploratory testing of user-facing web apps and internal content creation and management tools.

🌱 What We’re Looking For
Knowledge of testing web or mobile-based applications, including exploratory testing, triaging bug reports, identifying common threads in multiple bug reports, and creating well-structured bug reports with appropriate evidence and steps to reproduce.
An understanding of accessibility concerns for web applications and how to assess them.
The ability to design tests and work without test scripts or formal specifications.
Familiarity with agile processes such as user stories, acceptance criteria and working in sprints with colleagues from other teams.
The successful candidate will have a desire to contribute across all areas to ensure Oak's success. You will be comfortable moving quickly and with agility, and be confident working with a range of digital systems (including proprietary ones, as required). Role Summary
