About the Role
As we scale, we are looking for a Head of Operations to provide operational leadership to ensure the charity operates effectively, compliantly and sustainably in line with its mission and ethos. Working closely with the CEO, you will support the translation of the vision into reality by building strong foundations, enabling effective delivery, and supporting the scaling of the organisational from a regional base to a nationally impactful charity.
This is a pivotal role shaping how BeSpace grows. You will lead on strengthening systems, people, governance and operational delivery embedding accountability, and continuous improvement.
In this role, you will:
Strengthen governance, risk and compliance
· Develop and maintain robust governance frameworks and ensure legal and regulatory compliance
· Embed effective risk management processes
· Oversee key compliance areas including safeguarding, GDPR and reporting
Build operational systems and infrastructure
· Develop and implement scalable systems, processes and internal controls
· Improve data management (including CRM) and strengthen reporting
· Contribute to ensuring operational readiness to support national growth
· Work with external providers on IT and financial system integration
Lead people, culture and organisational development
· Oversee recruitment, onboarding and retention of a high-performing team
· Strengthen performance management and accountability frameworks

About You
We are looking for someone who:
· Has experience in operations, programme or an organisational role with increasing responsibility or has had operational leadership, ideally within a growing or changing organisation
· Has good experience in developing systems, processes and organisational infrastructure
· Can work closely with a CEO to translate vision into operational delivery
· Has excellent organisational and project management skills
· Is proactive, collaborative and relational leader who builds strong teams and culture
It would be a bonus if you:
· Are an experienced operational leader motivated by impact, flexibility, and supporting the growth of a mission-led organisation
· Have significantly enabled the scaling of a regional organisation to national growth operationally.

About the opportunity
You will help drive the quality and impact of our key stage 2 (KS2), key stage 3 (KS3) and key stage 4 (KS4) English tutoring programmes through improving our English resources. You will create training materials and provide advice and support to our volunteers and our (mostly) non-teaching staff members who manage these volunteer tutors day to day. You will be engaged in our AI tutoring pilot including undertaking pedagogical reviews of potential English AI tutoring tools.

Contract and hours: 0.6FTE (all year) or 0.8FTE (term time only), 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract. A full working week is 37.5 hours.
Duties and responsibilities
- Following a defined brief, generate improvements to our KS4 English curriculum resources to enable pilot testing in AY26.27 Summer Term.
- Maintain our KS2 - KS4 English curriculum resources to ensure volunteer tutors have high quality materials to use in sessions.
- Support Action Tutoring’s Programme Department to provide and respond to requests for additional materials for tutoring sessions, particularly English sessions.
- Design and deliver online English-focused training for volunteer tutors so that subject knowledge is secure within the tutor community.
- Provide advice and support, including some direct tutor communications, on subject-specific matters for Action Tutoring staff who manage volunteer tutors.
- Engage and support Action Tutoring’s AI research including by undertaking pedagogical reviews of AI tutoring tools and supporting with tool development.
Person specification
Qualification criteria:
We are looking for someone who is/has:
- Qualified (QTS) secondary school teacher of English
- At least two year’s teaching experience in English state schools with an understanding of the barriers facing disadvantaged pupils
We are looking for the following attributes, though you might be more experienced in some areas than others:
- Experience designing and formatting curriculum resources to support learning, either for print or digital use
- Understanding of the different pedagogical approaches required in small-group learning compared to classroom teaching, with a robust understanding of tutoring as a mechanism for supporting pupil personalised learning
- Willingness to learn and become confident in the KS2 English curriculum
- Able to communicate pedagogy in jargon free, accessible ways to non-specialists
- Empathetic and skilled at providing feedback in a sensitive but constructive way
- Organised with strong time-management skills, able to independently manage a varied range of tasks and responsibilities
- Good attention to detail with administrative tasks, able to follow instructions well with a working understanding of the importance of data privacy
- Adaptable and open to learning with a passion for self-improvement, proactively seeking opportunities to develop and upskill

You will likely be more successful in this role if you:
- Experience delivering training or CPD to adults with energy and confidence, able to engage attendees, facilitate discussion and manage time effectively
- Experience as a private, school-based or volunteer tutor or experience of teaching exam resit classes
- Evidence-based knowledge of how children and adults learn online compared to in person
- Provided coaching or mentoring to trainee teachers
- Experience as a GCSE English examiner

Job Purpose
To provide a physiotherapy service as part of a multi-disciplinary team, on a part-time basis

Physiotherapists are self-employed contractors and report to the Clinical Lead.

Job Description
Key duties
- Respond to physiotherapy referrals
- Carry out assessments, provide advice and recommend interventions to manage the symptoms in patients with M.E./C.F.S. and related conditions, working with a whole person approach, and involving family/carers where appropriate
- Provide written reports for the person with M.E. and others involved in their care with consent of the patient
- Participate in clinical team meetings at least once a quarter (approximately 1 hour)
- Participate in quarterly physiotherapy team meetings (approximately 1 hour)
Key Tasks
- Arrange and undertake consultations in the most appropriate manner for the patient - remotely by either telephone, Zoom or email.
- Record consultation details (date, length of consultation, charge) on Action for M.E.’s internal tracker for invoicing purposes
- Consider choices and in collaboration with the person with M.E., agree attainable and realistic goals, however small, during assessment
- Offer a selection of gentle progressive interventions to facilitate an improvement in their quality of life
- Offer follow-up consultations with patients by phone, Zoom or email
- Raise any safeguarding concerns to appropriate colleagues.

Person Specification
Qualifications/Key requirements
- Must be registered HCPC
- Must be registered with Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or other professional body which can provide PLI
- Up to date professional indemnity insurance
- Safeguarding training to Level 3
- Eligible to work in the UK
Experience and Knowledge
May be varied but would typically include:
- Several years of post-graduate work experience in different aspects of the profession
- Familiarity with the NICE Guideline for the management of M.E. (2021)
- Experience in the management of long-term conditions
- Experience in the management of chronic pain and its impact on the quality of life
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team
Skills and Behaviours
- Excellent communication skills, in both active listening and careful word usage
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and the ability to quickly learn relevant bespoke software systems
Attitudes
- Understanding that ME/CFS is a complex biomedical condition
- A desire to help people holistically to manage their ME/CFS
- A willingness to think outside established protocols
