We are looking for a permanent and full-time member of staff to help develop and communicate RSTMH’s role within tropical medicine and global health. We need a passionate and creative communicator who can play a key role in meeting our communications objectives. This role is office-based in central London, with the option to work from home on Mondays.
RSTMH is a membership society formed in 1907, with around 1,800 members and Fellows in over 100 countries. We work to improve tropical medicine and global health by enabling and promoting research, sharing knowledge and convening networks through our members and Fellows and beyond. The Communications Manager will have the opportunity to develop and enhance RSTMH’s reputation as a credible and trusted voice in tropical medicine and global health.
This is a wide-ranging and exciting role. You will lead on implementing the organisation’s communications strategy, working with the leadership team to ensure it meets the aims of the wider RSTMH strategy. You’ll maintain and further develop the website and social media platforms, build links with media contacts, and source, commission and develop content. You’ll manage relationships with key suppliers, including website developers, strategic partners, digital media and creative agencies. You’ll also be responsible for delivering RSTMH’s newsletters to our members and Fellows, and global network of supporters.

THE ROLE
- Implement RSTMH’s communications strategy, in line with the wider organisational goals – developing short- and long-term strategic plans
- Develop communication plans for all areas of RSTMH, working with department managers to execute
- Full ownership of the website, including content updating and monitoring for consistency and currency, managing any development work and integration with other systems
- Manage social media channels for RSTMH, and develop strategies to engage wider networks
- Accountable for our joint venture website, grow: including developing a strategy for updating and maintaining the listings and income generation through advertising and/or sponsored posts

- 5 years’ experience within a digital communication role

Purpose of the role
This is a specialist role focused on securing and stewarding funding from trusts and foundations and developing a pipeline of major donors and high net worth supporters, underpinned by exceptional proposal writing and strong relationship management.

Key responsibilities
1) Trusts and foundations fundraising
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of UK trust and foundation prospects that advance NCTJ’s charitable priorities (including diversity, community reporting, and training for a fast-changing media industry).
- Develop and maintain a grants calendar and tracking system, including deadlines, funder preferences, decision timelines, and reporting requirements.
- Write and submit high-quality, tailored grant applications and expressions of interest, working to agreed targets and timescales.
- Develop a suite of core fundraising materials (case for support, programme proposals, budgets, outcomes and evaluation narrative, boilerplate and templates) to increase quality and consistency across submissions.
- Confidently communicate the NCTJ’s purpose and impact through presentations, reports, and digital content and represent the NCTJ at meetings and events, both virtually and in person.
- Build and maintain strong funder relationships, ensuring excellent stewardship, timely reporting and opportunities for renewal and uplift.
2) Major donor / high net worth giving
- Work with the senior team to identify major donor prospects through networks and sector connections.
- Undertake proportionate prospect research and build a high-quality cultivation pipeline.

- Develop and deliver a clear plan for thanking trusts and major donors, keeping them updated on impact, and staying in regular contact.

4) Systems, reporting and evaluation
- Maintain excellent data quality and discipline in HubSpot CRM, including prospect stage, relationship owner, next actions, submissions, reporting deadlines and contact history.
- Produce clear pipeline and performance reports for the HoBD/chief executive (eg, submissions, conversion rates, forecast, learning and next steps).
- Contribute to quarterly review sessions to evaluate progress and refine approach.
5) Collaborative working

In this exciting and varied role, you will manage the HR lifecycle, provide HR advice, develop and improve policies and processes, and manage payroll and benefits. Brief role description:
This job acts as a ‘secretariat’ function for the Global Board, sub Committees and Senior Leadership Team, ensuring the timely preparation of agendas, collation and circulation of papers, minuting meetings and managing action points. This role also supports the recruitment and annual evaluation of trustees, the management of terms of office and any association board administration.
The Executive Assistant & Board Administrator will also provide executive assistant support to the CEO including diary management, logistics and travel, as well as supporting office management and the administration of SLT, staff and volunteer meetings, events and off sites.
Main responsibilities:

Deliver high quality, timely administrative support to the Board and sub-committees, working with the CEO, Head of Governance and Board and Committee Chairs. Provide exemplary executive and administrative support to the CEO to ensure the management of diary commitments, travel, schedules and workflows.

The Digital and Operational Lead will lead the development and day-to-day delivery of the eoa’s digital systems including our AMS and SSoT (iMIS) and member community platform (Thrive by Higher Logic), operational infrastructure, and working environment (office and WFH).

Key Responsibilities
Systems, Technology, and Intelligence
- Lead the delivery, development, and optimisation of our digital infrastructure, including implementation of AI, liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure business critical systems are maintained, secure, and future-proofed.
- Drive creation and delivery of seamless, engaging digital experiences that support member acquisition and retention, and generate measurable ROI.
- Ensure high digital adoption among staff and members while championing the use of iMIS (the eoa’s AMS) as a single source of truth.

The Role of Diocesan Housing Surveyor
We are looking for someone who can work alongside the Diocesan Property Manager, and Property Officer, to assist in the management of the Clergy Housing stock comprising of 160 houses across Coventry and Warwickshire.
The main responsibilities of the of Diocesan Housing Surveyor
are:
- Inspect Clergy houses and assess repairs and improvements necessary in compliance with Coventry Diocese Clergy Housing Standards.
- Implement the recommendations of the property reports.
- Arrange property inspections and implement the required works with the agreement of the Property Manager.
- Arrange stock condition surveys.
- Address reactive repairs and ensure works are undertaken and completed in accordance with the Housing Standards.
- Prepare schedules of work and cost budgets, agree these with the Property Manager before tendering to approved contractors.
What we are looking for in a Diocesan Housing Surveyor:
· Driving Licence with access to own car
· Previous experience of managing small works contracts
· Working knowledge of residential building defects and their resolution
· Proven awareness of health and safety with regard to building management and works contracts.
