Working closely with the Trusts Managers, and the Senior Philanthropy & Trusts Manager, you will lead the teams to secure, and grow, vital funding from trust sources to support the welfare of dogs and cats across the UK and internationally. The role currently leads a team of three.
The Trusts Lead will drive forward the Trusts strategy as well as oversee KPI development and measurement, and budgets for the team. The role is also responsible for account managing a handful of partners, as well as an organisationally significant seven-figure relationship with Postcode Lottery, requiring significant work with stakeholders across Battersea.
The post will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, but in particular with the Head of Philanthropy, Partnerships & Commercial, the Senior Corporate & Commercial Partnerships Manager, the Senior Fundraising Operations Manager, the Special Events & Stewardship Manager and Marketing & Communications teams to collaborate on joint projects and ensure contacts are shared to maximise all opportunities.

The Farming Community Network (FCN) is a UK-wide voluntary organisation and charity that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people in farming and ‘walk with’ people at times of difficulty and change. We are recruiting a part-time Trust Fund and Legacy Development Manager. You will be reporting to the Head of Partnerships.
You will build vital relationships with Trusts, Foundations and other grant providers, generating income and helping to ensure the financial sustainability of the charity.
You will also focus on increasing the volume and value of legacies left to FCN and nurturing these relationships and opportunities.
Now is an exciting time to be joining FCN – we are currently delivering our three-year strategy (2025 - 2027) and we are working with a wide range of stakeholders to create a resilient farming future for the next generation of farmers.
You will be working under your own initiative for much of the time, and will need a valid, clean driving license and own transport. Mileage expenses are reimbursed.
Key Relationships:
Internal: Close working relationships with Head of Partnerships, Head of Operations and Communications, Head of Finance and HR and other staff members.
External: Liaising with Trusts, Foundations, families and a wide range of other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
The Trust Fund and Legacy Development Manager will be responsible for:
Trusts:
- Lead on the development and delivery of a new trust fundraising strategy.
- Identify, research and write compelling applications to meet and / or exceed income targets.
- Oversight and management of relationships with existing and new trusts and foundations and delivering funding reports to a high and consistent standard, including evaluating impact.
- Writing and submitting high-quality bids and tailored proposals to secure charity funding from trusts, foundations, grant providers and other sources.
- Monitoring requirements of trust fund projects, including meeting deadlines and collating relevant information.
- Working with the Senior Leadership Team to identify opportunities and develop project proposals aligned to organisational strategy.
Legacy Development:
- Create and deliver an effective strategy for gifts in wills and in memory giving.
- Increasing income from legacies and wills, as well as maintaining and building legacy opportunities.
- Ensuring legacy funds are utilised in accordance with the wishes of the donor.
- Managing relationships with donors, families and other stakeholders.
- Recording income and donor support accurately and maintaining databases.
- Handling the responsibilities of the role sensitively and with care and compassion.
- Acknowledge and celebrate gifts in wills to raise awareness throughout the organisation, with its followers, supporters, staff and volunteers.
- Working with colleagues to gather content and produce high quality and inspirational updates for legacy supporters and their families.
- Respond to potential enquiries about all types of legacy gifts and gather details about each.
- Gather information from existing content and new sources to draft updates and other stewardship communications for individuals and legacy families.
- Identify case studies and stories from across our work, to show the impact of legacies and gifts in memory.
- Supporting on the delivery of projects and other charitable activities as and when required.
Essential Criteria:
· Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
· Excellent customer/donor care experience with a proven track record of exceptional listening skills.
· Methodical and organised approach to tasks with meticulous attention to detail with the ability to plan and prioritise.
· Experience in supporter acquisition, retention, and the development of supporters.
· Experience in writing funding bids, grants and proposals and tailoring bids to requirement and working to strict deadlines.
· Knowledge and experience of developing and maximising fundraising opportunities.
· Excellent organisational skills and deadline achievement.
· Good interpersonal skills.
· Computer literacy including a working knowledge Microsoft office software, (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint).
· Ability to research, plan and budget.
· Able to work on own initiative while also as a key team member of the management team.
Desirable Criteria:
• Has worked in the charity sector previously.
• Knowledge and understanding of the law as it applies to charity legacies, taxes applicable to estates and probate/trust law and related processes.
• Has knowledge of agriculture and the rural community
• To have completed Higher Education (A-Levels, HNC, HND, foundation degree, bachelor’s all considered).

The Role
This is a varied and rewarding fundraising management role, focused on developing and delivering an ambitious community and events fundraising programme that generates sustainable income, increases awareness of our work and builds long-term supporter relationships.
You will lead the development of community fundraising across the UK, supporting and inspiring individuals, families, schools, community groups, volunteers and local businesses to raise funds for the charity. Founded in 1860, Providence Row is a specialist homelessness charity working in East London and the City, deliberately operating at the most acute end of the homelessness spectrum.
The charity reaches around 1,200 individuals (annually) with the most deep-rooted needs; people whose interlinking mental and physical health, and trauma and substance use challenges mean they often struggle to access mainstream support. This is a new role for someone with substantial experience working in Trusts Fundraising, as well as strong project development skills, who can take our fledgling portfolio of funders and transform it into a pool of engaged supporters invested in MRF’s work in the long-term. You will have a demonstrable track record of securing five-six figure sums, the ability to create propositions in collaboration with programmatic colleagues, and the confidence to present compelling cases for support to a range of philanthropic organisations. You will also have excellent communication skills both written and verbal, a keen eye for connecting philanthropic organisations to the right projects to develop meaningful relationships, and the skills to deliver high-quality, detailed bids to further our strategic objectives.

Purpose of the Role
Trust Officers play a key role in delivering The Friendly Trust's services.
The postholder will manage an allocated caseload, providing practical support, advice and financial administration to Service Users and their families.
The role combines person-centred casework with welfare benefits, financial management, advocacy and multi-agency working. Trust Officers develop professional relationships with Service Users and use their knowledge, judgement and problem-solving skills to ensure that people's financial affairs are managed appropriately while promoting choice, independence and individual rights.
Where a person may lack capacity to make a particular financial decision, the Trust Officer will ensure that their work reflects the principles and requirements of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and any other relevant legal authority under which The Friendly Trust is acting.
Key Responsibilities
Service User Support and Casework
- Manage an allocated caseload of Service Users, taking responsibility for progressing work and responding appropriately to changing circumstances.
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with Service Users, recognising their individual wishes, communication needs, abilities and circumstances.
- Provide clear and accessible information, advice and practical support to Service Users, carers and family members on matters including welfare benefits, financial management, trusts and related issues.
- Support Service Users to understand and participate in decisions about their finances wherever possible.

- Meet with and visit Service Users and their families as required, including home visits and meetings with other professionals.

Welfare Benefits
- Support Service Users to identify and access welfare benefits to which they may be entitled.

Financial Administration and Appointeeship

- Ensure that benefits and other income received on behalf of Service Users are used appropriately and in their interests.
- Work with Service Users to create, implement and regularly review individual money plans and budgets.

- Arrange payments and other financial transactions in accordance with organisational procedures and the authority under which The Friendly Trust is acting.

Mental Capacity and Decision-Making

Hybrid working

Key Responsibilities
The main duties and responsibilities of the role holder are as outlined below:
Partnership Development & Delivery
- Manage the range of existing partnerships across corporate and philanthropic audiences, creating and implementing bespoke solicitation and stewardship plans, generating income for the organisation or NHS Charities
- Translate our work into compelling and bespoke cases for support, making relevant and appropriate asks and soliciting multi-year strategic partnerships
- Identifyand develop new partnership opportunities whichbenefitour organisation or NHS Charities
- Develop opportunities for and deliver sponsorship income for our activity and events
Collaboration & Sector Support
- Work collaboratively with member NHS Charities to understand their fundraising needs, challenges, and opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the sector, supporting them to understand the most appropriate role for partnership-based fundraising
- Share learning and best practice from partnership relationships to inform future developments and sector growth.
- Contribute to supporting NHS Charities to raise their income, providing advice and guidance 1:1 and through supporting the delivery of member events
- Where required support the delivery of paid for consulting support to NHS charities on fundraising
- Keep abreast of trends in fundraising within and beyond the health sector.
Leadership & Financial Management
- Establish clear objectives, KPIs, and evaluation frameworks for all partnerships
- Monitor the performance and financial return of our partnerships work, producing regular reports and insights to inform decision-making.
- Provide effective line management to team members, ensuring they have clear objectives, professional development, and deliver high performance.
- Manage budgets as required, monitoring income and expenditure to ensure targets and forecasts are met, and reporting any variances promptly.
- Produce regular performance and income reports and insights to inform strategy and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the effective running of the team, and participate in relevant training and team meetings.
- Ensure donor records are kept up to date on the fundraising database, and ensure our CRM records of key relationships are maintained
- Ensure all appropriate due diligence is undertaken and necessary gift agreements are in place.
- Ensure that all fundraising activity complies with the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice and relevant legislation.
Cross-Team Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with teams across the organisation to collaborate on member facing activity and ensuring our product offers fit with our member segmentation approaches.
- Support the team on other fundraising activity, for example around events, or in the cultivation and recruitment of individual donors

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Fundraising Qualification, Chartered Institute of Fundraising, or equivalent
- Significant experience of fundraising, and the role and theory of fundraising through partnerships and/or philanthropic relationships
- Experience of securing significant partnerships of at least 5 figures from corporate partners, individuals or family foundations and managing relationships with major supporters
- Knowledge of the current philanthropy and High Net Worth Individual and/or corporate landscape and insight into future trends
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.

Our client is a Surrey-based charity supporting survivors of domestic abuse through refuge accommodation, advocacy and specialist support services. They help women and children rebuild their lives and move towards a future free from abuse. They are now looking for an experienced Trusts Fundraising Manager to play a key role in securing the income needed to sustain and grow their impact.
Reporting to the CEO, the Trusts Fundraising Manager will take a lead role in securing income from trusts and foundations fundraising as a central priority. You’ll develop a strong pipeline, build and steward relationships with grant-makers, and produce high-quality bids and reports that clearly evidence outcomes and need. While trusts will be the key focus, the post also has scope to contribute to wider income streams (e.g., corporates, community fundraising, individual giving) and to help shape the overall fundraising direction.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of securing trust and foundation funding, with the ability to write compelling, tailored applications and communicate impact credibly. The right person will be proactive, organised and comfortable balancing strategy with hands-on delivery—able to manage multiple deadlines, build relationships with a range of stakeholders, and work with sensitivity given the organisation’s focus on supporting survivors of domestic abuse.
