Ambition Aspire Achieve is seeking an exceptional, values-led Chief Executive to lead our much-loved children and young people’s charity into its next chapter.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a practical, relationship-based and strongly rooted Newham charity that makes a real difference to children, young people and families facing disadvantage, vulnerability, SEND, disability or risk.

Founded in 2016 by Kevin Jenkins OBE, Ambition Aspire Achieve has grown from a small number of projects at the Terence Brown Arc in the Park into a well-established charity working across Newham. Today, AAA supports nearly 1,000 children and young people each year through its hubs, with many more reached through outreach, schools-based work and community programmes.

Our work is grounded in the belief that every child and young person should be able to enjoy their childhood, overcome barriers, build confidence and develop the skills and self-belief to achieve positive futures. We deliver a broad programme of support including after-school clubs, holiday programmes, youth clubs, SEND activities, mentoring, outdoor learning, sports, family days, residentials, detached youth work, schools-based youth safety work, community events and targeted family support.

This is an exciting and important moment in AAA’s journey. Following a period of growth, the charity is now focused on consolidation, quality and long-term sustainability. The next Chief Executive will provide clear, steady and values-led leadership, working closely with the Chair and Board of Trustees. They will lead and support the staff team, strengthen organisational sustainability, maintain and develop partnerships, champion safeguarding and inclusion, and ensure children and young people remain at the heart of every decision.

As AAA does not currently have a dedicated senior fundraising post, the Chief Executive will also play a central role in securing and maintaining the income needed to sustain and develop the charity’s work. This will include trusts and foundations, statutory funding, corporate partnerships, individual donors, appeals and wider supporter engagement.

We are looking for someone who can combine strategic leadership with practical operational understanding. You may already be a Chief Executive, or you may be an experienced senior leader ready to step into your first Chief Executive role. What matters most is your ability to lead with clarity, care and resilience; build trusted relationships; secure income; uphold strong governance; and keep AAA’s values at the centre of how the charity works.

This is a senior leadership appointment, reporting to the Director of Resources and leading a Finance team of around nine, including the payroll function. Job Title: Strategic Legal Projects Manager

About the Role

This is a new role which will be pivotal to the work of the Strategic Legal Projects Team. The post-holder will work with the Director of Strategic Litigation and Advice to coordinate the delivery of the Strategic Legal Fund (SLF). This is an innovative programme of grant funding, supporting strategic legal work that benefits people who are disadvantaged or discriminated against because of their immigration status. We define strategic litigation as work where the impact goes beyond an individual case and results in changes to law, policy and practice that will benefit a wider group of people. The fund supports pre-litigation research, and third-party interventions in cases before the courts, as well as advocacy related to the legal activities undertaken. Grants can be awarded to non-governmental organisations and law firms.

The post provides an opportunity to contribute strategically to supporting the legal sector working on migrants’ rights in the UK. You will gain experience of all aspects of the grant-making process in the intersection of legal and policy work on issues facing people seeking asylum, migrants and refugees in the UK today. 

The ideal candidate may be someone wishing to develop a career in philanthropic work in this area or build relationships with esteemed human rights lawyers and social justice organisations. Whatever their interest, they will bring to the work a flair for organising, project management to include building relationships and supporting joint working and the vision to see the separate grants as part of a coherent whole.

Main Tasks:

· liaise with applicants including legal practitioners and organisations working with migrants across the UK;

About the ILPA Team 

You would be joining a small team, of around 12 team members. Young black people disproportionately report inequality, racism and discrimination on a routine basis. Many ACH children, young people and families are succeeding in Hackney, however young people from ethnic minority communities are over-represented in terms of child protection plans, looked after children and school exclusions and inequalities in health. If you feel passionate about making a difference in this area we would like to hear from you.

Our Growing Minds Service provides practical, emotional and mental health wellbeing support to children and young people aged 11-25 from African and Caribbean Heritage (ACH) communities; focusing on two key transition points in their lives (primary to secondary school and childhood to adulthood). The service is designed to increase the capacity of ACH communities to harness potential, identify and support children and young people’s mental health needs, and to establish a clear pathway into direct support.

We are seeking candidates from African and Caribbean Heritage in order to reach out to children, young people and young adults in these communities. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies. 

Main responsibilities

As a therapist you will be responsible for undertaking assessments, delivering 1-1, time limited, outcome focussed sessions with young people for up to 24 weeks (depending on their assessment evaluation) and evaluating therapeutic interventions for young people. You will also undertake associated case management and administrative work.  You will be required to offer evening sessions until 8pm at least one evening a week (on Monday or Thursday) as part of your working hours and there is also the potential to develop and facilitate group work.

Main Requirements

As a Psychotherapist/ Creative Art Psychotherapist/Counsellor with relevant post qualification practice you will work collaboratively community organisations/CAMHS and other partners to reduce barriers to mental health support to children, young people and young adults from the ACH community. You will work with young people on a 1:1 basis, with parent/carers during assessment, and group work. You will undertake holistic assessments, and hold a caseload providing outcome focussed interventions that support resilience and emotional wellbeing. This is a new role at High Trees, created because we believe Lambeth’s voluntary and community sector (VCS) is one of the borough’s greatest assets – strong, skilled and rooted in the communities it serves. Place-based organisations like ours play a vital role in supporting individuals, strengthening communities, growing local economies and shaping the policy decisions that affect the people we work with. We want a dedicated Manager who can help make that case, loudly and effectively, both within High Trees and across the wider system.

A key part of this role is our contract to deliver capacity building support to Lambeth’s VCS, commissioned by the local authority and delivered through the Lambeth Hubs Partnership – but this is one strand of a much bigger picture. We want this role to think beyond any single contract, taking a long-term view of what Lambeth’s VCS infrastructure support needs to look like, and leading the development of new approaches, including peer support models and a more circular economy across the sector.

About the role

As our Senior Grants Partnerships Manager, you'll own a portfolio of up to ten large trusts, foundations and institutional funders at six and seven figure level, deepening existing relationships while opening up new ones across North America, the Gulf States, East Asia, Northern Europe and the UK.

We are looking for two experienced managers to join us for two fixed term Portfolio Manager roles (12-month FTC and FTC until 31 March 2027) who will form part of a team of around 40 in total.

The UK Portfolio supports the ambitions and potential of communities across the UK.  We focus on scaling projects with a UK-wide benefit, through significant investments and partnerships, which enable systems-level change for communities. Our funding is intended to complement the work of other country portfolios: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Our Portfolio Managers support the delivery of the UK Portfolio strategy through managing the design and delivery of funding programmes, helping shape and deliver new partnerships and investments, as well as managing our team of Funding Officers. You will be one of 10 Portfolio Managers and report to one of our senior team, working closely with them to deliver the UK Portfolio strategy now and as we move into the next phase.

Our current work includes:

• TheUK Fund: offers long term funding to support organisations to scale proven work and approaches against two main themes: connected communities and youth voice. Funded projects consistently focus on systems change, community power and voice.

Role Expectations

We are looking for experienced managers who are confident in managing and developing others, managing performance and adept at managing a varied workload from across our funding lifecycle to new funding investments and partnerships.

You will first and foremost be a people manager, with the skills and experience of navigating operational delivery from budgets, resourcing and risk, for example, to ensuring quality delivery of our work and supporting a culture that enables people to thrive.

You could be working across any of our programmes and developing areas of work but an interest in our current funding programmes and areas of development is essential. If you have a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing communities across the UK, these roles are for you.

Alongside direct support for survivors, the project works to reduce isolation and stigma by opening up conversations within the community and strengthening safe pathways into specialist services.

To deliver this work effectively, ARCC is recruiting two Project Coordinators to lead the Mental Health and Domestic Abuse (DASV) strands of the programme and two community champions. These roles will work closely together to ensure women receive safe, coordinated and culturally competent support throughout their journey.

Role Purpose

• Plan and coordinate structured recovery workshops focused on confidence, boundaries, healthy relationships and wellbeing.

• Manage participant intake, initial assessments and allocation into appropriate recovery pathways.

• Ensure sessions are scheduled effectively and delivered in safe, welcoming environments.

Operational Oversight

• Provide day-to-day operational management of sessional counsellors and creative facilitators.

• Work collaboratively with the appointed external Clinical Supervisor, who provides formal therapeutic supervision to counsellors.

• Monitor attendance, engagement and wellbeing outcomes.

• Maintain accurate records in line with confidentiality and GDPR requirements.

Safeguarding & Integrated Support

• Identify safeguarding concerns and share appropriately with the DASV Coordinator.

• Contribute to risk discussions and coordinated case planning where needed.

• Ensure trauma-informed practice is embedded across recovery activities.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

• Maintain monitoring systems and track agreed project outcomes.

• Contribute to reporting for funders and stakeholders.

• Support budget monitoring related to mental health delivery.

• Meet regularly with the DASV Coordinator to align delivery and ensure integrated support.

• To undertake any other tasks that are commensurate with  the  post  and  which reflect the needs of the organisation.

Person Specification

Essential

• Experience coordinating mental health, counselling or wellbeing programmes.

• Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice.

• Experience working with survivors of domestic abuse or complex trauma.

• Experience working with culturally diverse or minoritised communities.

• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.

• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Desirable

• Relevant qualification in counselling, psychology, social care or related fields.

• Experience managing or coordinating sessional staff.

• Multilingual skills relevant to local communities.
