This role is offered on a 3-year contract with the possibility to be made permanent. The role is largely to be undertaken remotely, ideally with some face to face working a couple of times per month at their London office.

The organisation is an independent charity providing crucial support to music professionals across the UK whose lives have been impacted by physical or mental ill health. They support individuals throughout their careers and into retirement and in the last five years have distributed over 3,500 grants totalling over £3.6million. Our client is a membership organisation with over 2,000 Members, all of whom are professionally active in the world of music or retired. This includes notable musicians from across the UK music sector.

The Grants and Enquiries Officer is a new role at the organisation. Working with the Director of Grant Giving and Grants Manager, the postholder will play a key role in the efficient running of the Grants Department. This varied role will include managing all incoming enquiries, assisting with the processing of applications for assistance, and production of schedules and reports when required. The postholder will develop strong working relationships with a diverse range of partner organisations and suppliers and will work alongside the Director of Grant Giving and Grants Manager to ensure the continued sustained growth and development of grant giving at the organisation.

The successful candidate will have experience working in a complementary role within a charity, health, social care or welfare setting. You will bring strong organisational and administration experience and will be highly empathetic with the ability to deal directly with vulnerable individuals and complex cases and to engage with people in a confident and professional manner. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills with a high standard of verbal/written English and the ability to write letters, reports and other documents.

The Young Roots Casework Service aims to improve the life chances of young refugees and asylum seekers and to support them to reach their potential by accessing their rights and entitlements. 

This is an opportunity for an experienced manager to head up the organisation's Casework team. It will be a chance to provide advice and guidance, safeguarding oversight, line management and supervise other Caseworkers across the organisation.

Role purpose statement: The Programme Assistant, Enquiries plays a vital role in the Fellowship Programme working directly with academics facing immediate risk in their home countries to carry out due diligence or signposting. This includes managing an individual caseload, dealing with prospective applications and general enquiries, providing administrative support to the Enquiries team as well as support across the Fellowship Programme when needed. 

Organisational Background 

The Council for At-Risk Academics is a UK-registered charity founded in 1933 under the leadership of William Beveridge, to rescue academics suffering persecution under the rise of Nazism and facilitate their continued work in safety. Sixteen Cara Fellows from the 1930s and 1940s became Nobel Laureates, and many more innovators in their fields, including, Nikolaus Pevsner, Lise Meitner and Karl Popper. A number of Cara’s founders and Council members also personally provided places and/or funds to help individual academics; and Cara, known in the 1930s as the AAC, later the SPSL, was closely involved in the successful effort in 1933 to bring to London the Warburg Institute art library, which had been prohibited by the Nazis, and six of its staff. The Fellowship Programme is the continuation of the rescue mission operation started in 1933. 

Cara has been a lifeline to academics at risk for over 90 years, as and when world events have placed them in the line of fire: Hungarian Uprising, Cold War, Apartheid South Africa, Iran, Latin American Juntas, Vietnam, Kosovo, DRC, Rwanda, Sudan, Zimbabwe etc. and, more recently Iraq, Turkey, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine. Cara support is typically framed as temporary sanctuary offered at times of heightened risk. 

Cara Objectives ‘To assist academics who have been, or are, or are at risk of being, subject to discrimination, persecution, suffering or violence on account of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, to relieve needs among them and their dependants and ensure that their specialist knowledge and abilities can continue to be used for the benefit of the public.’ 

‘To advance education by supporting academics and their educational institutions in countries where their continuing work is at risk or compromised, to ensure that such academics and institutions can continue to fulfil their critical role as educators for the public benefit.’ 

This is a critical time to join our dedicated and friendly Fellowship Programme team as we expand our capacity to support at-risk academics from the Middle East, Sudan, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Russia and many other countries. 

Role & Responsibilities  

Casework  

• Signposting prospective applicants to the application form. 

• Manage own caseload, preparing cases for eligibility review, including arranging calls to speak with applicants, booking English language tests, and gathering all relevant documentation.

• Escalating complex cases to the Team Leader as required. 

• Maintain accurate and GDPR-Compliant records of casework activity. 

• Researching international affairs to develop understanding about risks applicants face.

Administration

Barnardo's is seeking a detail-oriented Fundraising Compliance Executive to ensure our fundraising and marketing activities meet all regulatory and internal standards. About the team

Purpose of the Role:

The purpose of the role is to develop and foster long-term, multi-faceted relationships with people giving in memory, and deliver compassionate, personalised stewardship, so all supporters feel cared about and their gift is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use Salesforce (or similar CRM) to maintain and keep up to date all information and projects related to In Memory Giving and drawing on data insights, monitor performance, identify trends, opportunities for developments and support improvements to the care and long-term relationship with supporters.
• Use the Much Loved (or similar platform) to develop tributes and opportunities for further in memory dedications, event participation and increase financial donations. 
• Establish a communication process with funeral directors and keeping these records up to date on Salesforce.
• Much Loved to promote income generation keeping them as donors, repeating donations and taking part in events and dedications
• Ensure that all communications, across all mediums, reflect the values of the Fishermen’s Mission and our Christian ethos.
•  Working closely with the Digital Engagement Officer and the Digital Fundraising Officer to develop and promote In Memory Giving and storytelling via digital platforms
•  Work with the wider organisation including frontline staff to raise the profile of In Memory Giving (internally and externally) and providing information using both written and printed word to assist with conversations with clients and supporters.
• Provide reports and information as and when required by line manager.  
• Meet all targets and objectives as agreed with the line manager on an annual basis.
• Undertake training and networking opportunities, when and if required, to keep up to date with the wider charity sector.
• Work as part of the Business Development Team at all times, taking part in team events and projects and supporting other team members if required.

Person Specification

Essential

• Highly skilled in all forms of communication
• Experience of dealing with people either face to face, over the phone or via written communications
• Use of a CRM (or a database) to record all interactions
• Expertise in using digital platforms
• Team working at the highest level, sharing information, ideas and working on projects with colleagues
• To be able to work within the Christian Ethos of the organisation

Desirable

• Experience of working in a charity setting or in a stewardship role
• Working with Salesforce as a CRM
• Experience of dealing with people who are recently bereaved or in an emotional situation

We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Support Worker to join our Mental Health Social Care Service in Flying Angel, Newham.

£28,808.00 per annum, working 40 hours per week.

Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop their life skills, which they require to meet their assessed needs. In some cases, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional and social care. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices.

What you'll do:

- Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation

- Participate in the support planning and risk management, as facilitated by the lead Support Worker

- Carry out security duties to ensure the safety of the customers and premises

- Monitor the CCTV throughout the shift

- Enable customers to make full use of community facilities by providing support as directed
