Magic Breakfast provide a nutritious and filling breakfast to over 200,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target the children most in need without barrier or stigma.
Magic Breakfast are ambitious to grow our impact in order to remove hunger as a barrier to learning for all children and young people in the UK. To do this, we need to continue to grow our fundraised income, of which new corporate income is a significant element.

We want to bring the wonders of charity shops back to our high-street and we need driven and passionate people to get us there!
About Us

In the UK and around the world, we work every day to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. We deliver lasting results for millions of children, including those hardest to reach.
About the Role
Located in Northallerton in North Yorkshire, our shop is situated in a warm and inviting community setting. As Shop Manager you'll be leading an active and dedicated volunteer team of around 20 and will play a key role as the shop undergoes a planned refurbishment and relaunch later in 2024!
This is a new role working within a shop that is currently volunteer-led and an exciting opportunity to be part of our Retail growth plans as we recruit more Shop Managers to join our team!

We are not looking for just one type of person - we want to recruit people who can add fresh perspectives, innovative ideas or challenge that disrupts the risk of group think.
We are especially interested in people whose childhood experiences - of life on a low income, of migration, of being in a racialised community, of the care system, of being LGBT+ or in an LGBT+ family or living with (or with someone with) a disability - help us to see things we might otherwise miss. Whatever your story is we want to hear it because we know that different voices, ideas, perspectives and knowledge, working together will enable us to better the lives of children around the world. Founded in 1903, Fauna & Flora International (FFI) is the world’s longest established international conservation organisation. Our vision is to create a sustainable future for the planet where biodiversity is conserved by the people living closest to it. We aim to do this through the conservation of threatened species and ecosystems worldwide, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science and take account of human needs. We have become a trusted entity in the world of conservation. Today FFI is active in over 40 countries.
Fauna & Flora is seeking a highly experienced professional to manage it’s fundraising from a portfolio of statutory (government and multilateral) donors, such as Defra, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service etc.
You will support colleagues and partners to develop high-quality proposal packages for priority donors, and ensure their timely submission. You will coordinate proposals and reporting internally, and ensure all documents produced for donors meet their criteria, as well as follow Fauna & Flora approval and submission procedures. There is a strong capacity development element to this work, and you will share knowledge, learning and resources across Fauna & Flora to maximise success rate and promote best practice in grant management and donor stewardship. You may also develop and deliver training packages, in Cambridge and potentially overseas. You will monitor Fauna & Flora’s activities in statutory fundraising and fund management within your portfolio, and support internal decision-making and strategy development by sharing this learning.
Experience of working with government funding sources, be they bilateral and/or multilateral, is essential for this role. You will have proven experience of securing restricted funding from government sources, and a strong understanding of how statutory donors and funding programmes support the achievement of international targets and government priorities. Knowledge of and experience in biodiversity conservation, the development sector, and/or climate is an asset; a commitment to learning and supporting these sectors is essential. You may have worked in the non-profit sector, such as international development, or have a background in bid management, proposal development, and grant fundraising.
Strong relationship-management and communications skills are essential to the role, to develop positive, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regional teams, non-governmental partners, and government agencies. You will be diplomatic and persuasive, and your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to coordinate people and processes to meet timelines. You will be a strong team player and enjoy working in a dynamic environment where the ability to respond swiftly to changing organisational and team needs is paramount. With a proactive and pre-emptive approach to your work, you will seek to add value and work with minimal supervision.
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Skills in languages relevant to Fauna & Flora’s programme (e.g., French, Spanish, Bahasa) are highly desirable. Sensitivity to the different working environments and capacities of colleagues around the world is also essential.
In return, the role offers the opportunity to work within a ground-breaking and entrepreneurial organisation, at the forefront of global conservation, with opportunity to apply your skills and expertise where appropriate. In addition, Fauna & Flora offers a generous pension contribution, attractive annual leave allowance and life insurance. Our offices are located in The David Attenborough Building in central Cambridge, just a few minutes’ walk from glorious historic buildings and museums, the picturesque River Cam, the central market and shopping centre, and a host of cafés and restaurants.
Other organisations may call this role Programme Funding Manager; Institutional Funding Manager or Business Development Manager.
The closing date for applications is Sunday, 19 May 2024. Interviews are likely to take place 1 – 2 weeks after the closing date.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
About us
This is who we are
We are a creative human rights organisation with a focus on children and young people. We believe children deserve to have their rights fully recognised and respected, just as all humans do. We press for rights – not charity – and campaign for a genuine shift in how governments and societies view and treat children. Through research, policy, art and creative storytelling, we encourage people to think critically about the world.
Guided by our CRIN Code, we are committed to building a team that represents a wide range of experiences, locations, backgrounds, heritage and perspectives. We understand that the world and its problems cannot be looked at in isolation, that everything is connected, and achieving change calls for many different voices. If this resonates with you – we would really love to hear from you.
This is why we need you
We see communications as storytelling. Because stories make our world. They hold real power and have real consequences. On a basic level, the stories we hear influence the things we believe, which in turn, influence the laws and policies making up the systems that govern us. So every aspect of how we present stories – how we read, watch and listen to them – matters. Looking at our work through this lens has challenged us to reframe our thinking on how we want to communicate.
Our website and our digital platforms are our biggest tools for communication. We have been working towards a dream of audiences encountering CRIN’s website as a holistic experience - bringing design, content and expression together. For our platforms to feel like spaces for conversation (open), not solely where people go for information (closed). Spaces to share ideas and build on the ideas of others to form a community. We still have a long way to go to get there. But we have started the work – and invite you to join us in continuing it.
This is why we are looking for a new Communications Manager to lead on planning and implementing our communications work.
About you
This is who we are looking for
You understand the power of language in all its forms: written, spoken, unspoken, and visual. You’re passionate about justice, equality and global issues facing our planet. Under the guise of your day job, you may even secretly be an artist. Crucially, you practise the disappearing art of listening.
You believe that storytelling has a crucial role to play in sharing ideas, changing opinions and building a collective vision for a better world. You have a strong understanding of how narratives are constructed and how to effectively communicate in different ways, with different audiences, on different platforms.
You’re aware that the world won’t change one tweet at a time, but you nonetheless know how to get the message across to the right people, and have a complete and nuanced understanding of digital audiences.
