This is an exciting time to join our Development, Alumni & Campaigns Office, and we wish to appoint an individual who shares our passion for the future of UEA. The Development Officer (Trusts & Foundations) will join a small, dedicated team responsible for securing income from charitable trusts, foundations and grant making bodies in the UK and internationally in support of agreed University priorities, including Health-UEA Climate-UEA and various campus projects. 

Reporting to the Senior Development Manager (Trusts & Foundations) you will apply for and manage grants whilst also managing the research of new funding opportunities for the team.

Educated to degree level, or with equivalent relevant qualification or experience, you will have excellent organisational and time management skills; strong interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; and an aptitude for face-to-face fundraising. Full training will be provided in fundraising/managing of relationships with volunteers and supporters.

This full-time post is available on an indefinite basis.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

· Manage a portfolio of warm and cold prospects cultivating and stewarding these relationships. 

· Identify and cultivate new donor prospects, with a cross team focus on pipeline development. 

· Lead on the implementation of a strategic stewardship programme, including the delivery of high level, engaging stewardship events for high-net-worth supporters that inspire philanthropic support. 

· Supporting the development of the ambassador programmes, identifying and cultivating relationships with high profile celebrities. 

· Proactively manage budgets, monitor, and report on Philanthropy income generation including corporate pipeline, new business achieved and the status of existing donors to ensure income targets are delivered.

About the role

Smart Works exists to empower all women who need help getting into work. We are currently in a significant growth phase, doubling the number of women we support to 10,000 women a year by 2025. As such, we require vital cornerstone funding and are seeking to establish a Major Gifts function, to secure donations from high-net worth individuals, that will enable us to achieve our mission and help thousands of women to transform their lives.

This is an exciting new role that provides an opportunity to build a new major gifts programme from scratch. Supported by the Director of Partnerships, you will work closely with the CEO, Board, and our network of 750 volunteers, to develop a giving strategy that will engage and grow a new pool of crucial supporters for Smart Works.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing major donors, as well as conducting prospect research, developing bespoke stewardship materials, and securing five-figure and six-figure repeat gifts.

We seek an excellent communicator, with significant experience in influencing, negotiating and exceeding set targets. Creativity, an understanding of women’s fashion, and knowledge of wealth circles would also be advantageous.

The Fundraising and Partnerships team are based in London. This is a hybrid role, working from a London centre at least twice per week, with the opportunity to work across our North, West and South London centres. Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Partnerships, the successful candidate will:

• Lead the development and delivery of a giving programme, building a pipeline and carrying out proactive prospect research
• Secure five-figure and six-figure multi-year gifts from major donors, to exceed income targets
• Research and identify prospective major donors who could support Smart Works, through existing warm networks and via outreach to cold audiences
• Work collaboratively across teams and functions to produce creative and compelling propositions and materials to secure both core and restricted funding
• Represent Smart Works to a diverse range of stakeholders and audiences to generate income and raise brand awareness
• Develop cultivation events considering regional hotspots
• Acknowledge, thank and recognize donors appropriate to their level of support and ensure restricted gifts are appropriately allocated
• Manage donor database and reporting
• Support Smart Works’ local centres across the UK and share learnings and guidance to help others build their Major Gifts potential

Skills, knowledge and personal attributes

Essential Criteria

• A track record of cultivating strong and positive relationships with multiple, senior and high-net worth individuals
• Demonstrable experience of making the ask, and an ability to support senior staff, volunteers and trustees to do so
• Interpersonal verbal communication and presentation skills, in order to foster strong relationships with donors and networks alike
• Target driven with excellent organisation and time management capabilities, demonstrating an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
• Ability to prepare high-quality funding proposals and reports, adapting the communication style for different audiences and stakeholders to maximise impact
• Proactive, ambitious team player, able to work from own initiative
• Passionate and enthusiastic about the mission and vision of Smart Works

Areas of responsibility:

1. Fundraising administration and donation processing

Cord has a loyal and committed UK supporter base of individual donors. The primary focus of this role is to support fundraising which involves

- the processing of donations and donation record keeping using a range of digital payment systems, entering records in to the supporter database, maintaining gift aid records and coordinating with finance colleagues regarding fundraising income.

- providing high quality supporter care to Cord's donors by assisting with the mailing of newsletters, writing thank you letters and notes to donors, and fielding enquiries promptly and politely.

- a range of other fundraising tasks including administering alternative gifts, helping with reports, liaising with payment platforms to ensure smooth processes, and supporting the preparation of resources for fundraising activities.

2. Running the admin office

Cord operates a predominantly remote working structure in the UK. However, there is a small admin office in Coventry which acts as a hub for the team with desks, resources and record storage. This role is responsible for overseeing this office and ensuring that remote office services run effectively. This involves organising the phone system and providing a reception service, managing mail procedures and monitoring office email accounts. It includes keeping the office in good order by managing supplies and storage, liaising with office suppliers, contractors and building agents. It also involves maintaining key holder registers, coordinating office access for the team, fulfilling health and safety requirements such as regular assessments and updating records, inducting and maintaining health and safety awareness amongst staff, when home working and working elsewhere, and providing logistical support for UK team meet-ups including sourcing venues and refreshment suppliers.

3.  Providing admin support around Cord's global operations

Cord has programmes in eight countries throughout Africa and Southeast Asia with offices and staff in four of them. The Fundraising and Operations Administrator plays a critical role in supporting operations to support the smooth running of the organisation's internal services. This involves:

 - IT systems: supporting the digital onboarding and offboarding of staff, purchasing and disposal of computer devices, maintaining records of current system users and liaising with Cord's external IT service provider on the issuing and billing of IT licences.

- Digital record systems: to support the organisation of Cord’s knowledge management system SharePoint, keeping key organisation administration information current, maintaining digital records in accordance with GDPR.

- Human resources: supporting recruitment processes, DBS applications, reference checks, monitoring employment contract terms, liaising with Cord's external HR advisor on employment contracts and policy amendments, supporting staff inductions, HR system record keeping and reporting.

- Finance: to carry out some routine finance tasks such as verifying petty cash counts, being a bank signatory that country reviews payments against approval documents.

- support to the Leadership Team with other operational tasks as required.

About you

To succeed in this role you will be a team player who is self-motivated with an ambition to help the organisation to improve systems, processes and information sharing. The ideal candidate will be proactive and able to anticipate the needs of colleagues working remotely in the UK and abroad. They will be highly organised, with the ability to maintain records diligently, and deliver routine tasks to schedule whilst also being able to improve system and process processes that continually increase efficiency. They will need to be comfortable using and adapting to a wide range of digital tools. They will have a close eye for detail, be numerate and able to interact with a diverse range of people.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Supporter Stewardship Assistant to join our Supporter Stewardship Team at the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.

We are looking for someone to provide administrative support and deliver an excellent supporter care experience to all supporters, members and donors. You will be able to effectively engage, inspire and motivate people to support the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Within this role, you will support the team with a wide range of tasks including:

• Advise and guide our new and existing supporters to make them feel valued and engaged with the charity, maximising their fundraising potential and encouraging repeat support.
• Work in partnership with Supporter Stewardship Officers to collaboratively complete all aspects of the Supporter Stewardship workload.
• Establish good rapport and understand supporters' needs and reasons for supporting and triaging supporters as required.
• Record supporter information on the Raisers Edge database accurately.
• Order fundraising materials and packs, and process any orders needed by other members of the Fundraising Team.
• Adhere to the Data Protection Act, HMRC, Audit regulations and other internal compliance procedures and policies.
• Play an active role as part of the Supporter Stewardship Team, encourage cross-team working and participate in working groups.
• Work to business and personal development objectives and as required participate in any relevant projects as agreed with the Supporter Stewardship Manager or Head of the Supporter Care team.

The Supporter Development Fundraising Lead will play a crucial role. We are looking for a high energy, passionate fundraiser who is highly relational. You will work towards the income targets including regular, one off and mission pot donations. In this exciting role you will be responsible for implementing the charity’s Individual Giving, Legacy and In Memory fundraising programmes (target of £1.3m in 2024).

You will manage a team of two with the support from the Head of Fundraising, with whom you will work closely with to develop a series of targeted multi-channelled appeals and campaigns to engage with existing supporters and to attract, recruit and retain new ones.

You will be confident in handling and interrogating data, utilising your experience to deliver insight led creative campaigns across several channels. You will use data to test and learn through the delivery of persuasive and compelling appeals and campaigns - aiming to grow supporter loyalty and inspire repeat donations.

The delivery of exceptional supporter care and stewardship is paramount in this role, the post holder will require excellent communication skills to help deepen engagement strategies with supporters and work with an ambitious, positive, and creative approach - with experience in working collaboratively organisation wide.

Key responsibilities

Planning and implementation Support the Head of Fundraising to plan, lead, implement, and evaluate strategies to:

• Increase individual gifts through enhancing the supporter donor journey.

• Develop new individual giving appeals and campaigns with a focus on direct marketing across various channels to engage with new and existing supporters to generate new income.

• Working with the communications team to design a multi-channelled approach to maximise the reach to the appropriate audiences.

• Develop the required tools and mechanisms to ensure ease of engagement.

• Design and implement a stewardship programme that cultivates long term support across all fundraising streams.

So, we are looking for an experienced, passionate, and highly personable fundraising professional to join our UK team, to help us identify, approach and cultivate relationships with new private individuals with the potential to make major contributions to our work. 

This is a maternity cover contract so the successful candidate will need to get up to speed quickly, taking over responsibility for delivering the new Major Donor fundraising plan. The successful candidate will have previous experience of managing high level relationships and a track record of securing high value (5 and 6 figure) donations or new business. You will have outstanding interpersonal skills and be a confident communicator and able to build trusted relationships swiftly.  As this is still a new role, in a relatively young charity, your ideas will help shape this work and you will play a crucial part in driving the growth and sustainability of our fundraising in the UK.

You might have existing experience working with high-value donors, however we also welcome applications from candidates who have transferable experience from other areas - for example a sales or account management background.

• Proactively research, identify, and cultivate a list of new potential donors (high-net-worth individuals), building a pipeline of people to approach for support.

• Build and strengthen relationships with both existing and new supporters - developing and personally managing and inspiring a portfolio of individual donors and prospects, soliciting 5 and 6-figure gifts.

• Lead a programme of relevant cultivation and networking events, including receptions and lunches, creating engaging opportunities for donors to increase their giving to a higher level.

• Develop inspiring and compelling ‘case for support’ literature

• Regular stewardship including personalised updates, donor touches, invites to webinars/events etc

Working Arrangements and Travel Requirements

Rainforest Trust UK staff work remotely and you will be expected to work primarily from home with an excellent internet connection. You may be based anywhere in the UK but you will be expected to work from a shared team space in London once a month, and your donor meetings/events are most likely to take place there.

The postholder will be required to host networking events and attend some online meetings with our partners in the U.S so some (early) evening working is required. We are also flexible as to how many hours this postholder works, and will consider a 3-5 day per week arrangement, depending on experience.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop a strategy for international for major gifts fundraising
• Manage and maintain a portfolio major gift donors and prospects, across PETA international entities

The Role
Seeking out all the information you need to be the go-to person for customer care and queries, being constantly curious about whats happening at the charity and how this can enhance customer communications and experience.
Providing excellent warm, friendly customer service by ensuring prompt, efficient and accurate processing of post, donations and other administration. You will be one of the first points of contact for all fundraising admin queries which may include database queries, supporter communications and amending supporters records.
Supporting other activities in the fundraising team when needed, sending out materials to fundraisers and supporting logistics, diary management and organising meetings when needed.
Ensuring income is allocated correct from third party platforms and working closely with the Finance Team to ensure that we can report fundraising results and forecast accurately and in a timely way.
As part of a small team, taking responsibility for identifying where your support is most needed through busy times, juggling different priorities to work effectively and efficiently under your own steam.

The Candidate
