We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Volunteer Team Leader to join our team. You will join us working 21 hours per week on a permanent basis and will be based at our National Cat Adoption Centre in Chelwood Gate. In return you will receive a salary of up to £16,444.20 per annum plus excellent benefits.

Rota includes working every other weekend, pattern below:

Week 1: 3 x 7hr days (mon – fri)

Week 2: 1 x 7hr day (mon – fri) and2 x 3.5hr day (sat & sun)

Responsibilities of our Volunteer Team Leader:

As Volunteer Team Leader you will promote and co-ordinate volunteering for the centre. You will develop contacts internally and externally e.g., with volunteers, employees, and the wider Volunteering Department.  You will recruit, train, schedule and support a team of diverse volunteers to enhance the smooth running of the Centre service in all aspects of its work.

Your role will be to provide a high standard of housekeeping and accommodation service across site. You will provide excellent levels of cleanliness that are consistent throughout the site.

As part of the site services team the role holder will be expected to liaise with managers and staff across the Trust. The role holder is expected to work closely with the other members of the facilities team and assist in covering in the laundry, in the deep clean team or other works as and when required.

You will be a natural and enthusiastic housekeeper working not only as part of a team but also individually.  This is a chance for an outstanding candidate to make a significant and lasting difference to the lives of thousands of children and families.

This is an exciting time to join a highly successful and friendly fundraising team at Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) as out National Events Fundraiser. Our ideal candidate is passionate, proactive and organised and will enjoy supporting hundreds of Team MRF runners who are fundraising to defeat meningitis.

Events Fundraiser

Salary: £23,000-£28,000 (depending on experience)

Location: Bristol, hybrid or remote working with monthly meetings in Bristol 

MRF National Events Programme

The MRF National Events Fundraiser is responsible for a significant proportion of our events income with hundreds of runners each year taking on the challenge of participating in iconic races such as TCS London Marathon and A J Bell Great North Run.

Many of our race participants join Team MRF for deeply personal reasons, having had first-hand experience of the disease. Without Team MRF runners we would not be where we are in the race to defeat Meningitis, they are fundamental to our work and have been so since our early days as a charity.

The National Events Fundraiser is an enjoyable role at MRF within a very successful fundraising team, which last year raised over £500,000 by supporting hundreds of runners on Team MRF.

Role Summary

This role is all about working with people, encouraging them as part of Team MRF and supporting them to reach their fundraising goals. You will need to be enthusiastic, outgoing and thrive in motivating people to take action through their fundraising.

You will need to be an advocate for MRF’s work to defeat meningitis, enabling people to achieve their goals and achieving the best for the Charity. It is through the determination of everyone involved with the national events programme that we are able to deliver a number of our goals as a charity. You will harness that passion to help each runner succeed and understand what a difference they make along the way.

With many different elements to the role from planning, marketing, stewardship and event delivery you will need to be flexible and adaptable. This isn’t a fully desk-based job, as at different points of the year you will get the chance to meet Team MRF runners face to face by attending the events themselves and delivering celebratory post-race receptions.

With large teams of runners across a rolling annual events programme you must feel comfortable in managing deadlines, overlapping plans and keeping on top of supporter communications. Whilst we have systems in place to support this, our ideal candidate is someone who enjoys taking responsibility for their own workload.

This a fun role that sees the events through from start to finish and a great opportunity for the right candidate.

Save the Children UK leads the Enabling Teachers Common Approach for the Movement and seeks to ensure our programming with teachers delivers improvements in learning outcomes. This role would lead aspects of our Enabling Teachers work and represent it externally and internally. It will also ensure we are building evidence of learning in our teacher and other education programmes, especially acquisition of foundational skills. 

You will be responsible for leadership in this focus area for SCUK and across the Movement to advance the organisations strategy ambition and LEARN Global Goal. This will include global thought leadership internally and externally in this focus area. This role will provide leadership to advance our teacher work through advocacy, programming, thought leadership and evidence & learning.

In this role, you will:   

• Provide global leadership (e.g., in internal and external working groups) in the technical area within the Save the Children Movement and/or wider sector. 
• Lead on elements of Save the Children UK's strategy with minimum supervision, reflecting your high-level responsibilities, and articulate a compelling vision to inspire others to achieve our ambitious goals for children. 
• Play a leadership role in the technical design and delivery of high-quality, strategic, inclusive, and impactful programmes, working collaboratively with stakeholders, and particularly with colleagues in country offices and partners.

About you 
To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Experience and knowledge working in international development programming

• Experience in the design, implementation and management of education programmes
• Experience of working in a matrix-managed context and promoting change across multiple networks
• Understanding of; child rights principles, gender and education & conflict sensitive education.
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills, and the ability to think and plan strategically; well-developed negotiation and communication skills, including spoken and written English.
• An internationally recognised postgraduate degree or equivalent experience
• Teacher training qualification or experience in teaching experience would be desirable
• Working knowledge of French is desirable
• Ability to travel up to 40% of work time.

Our administration team are integral to the smooth running of Beacon and this is an opportunity to be part of this.

We have two roles available for people to join our appointments team as administrators, working within our opening times of 8:45am and 9:15pm Monday-Thursday and 8:45am and 4:30pm on Friday.
Shifts are provided in advance and would form a regular pattern. Flexibilty is required on occasion to provide cover during periods of sickness or leave within the wider team.

Additionally, you will establish and maintain links with statutory and voluntary agencies; to promote and support the welfare of families who have experienced domestic abuse. Form and maintain relationships with local specialist domestic abuse services, and finally, ensure that child welfare is ensured in accordance with Stop Domestic Abuse’s Protection from Abuse Policy.

This role includes the opportunity to be on call out of office hours as this is a 24-hour, 7 day a week service running outside of usual service hours.  The on-call out of hours service may involve the following duties and responsibilities, this is not an exhaustive list and is subject to change to ensure contract and service delivery requirements are met by the organisation and to provide a high-quality service to people affected by domestic abuse. Working arrangements

Working hours are between 09:00am – 07:00pm, subject to business needs. Normal working hours are 09:00am to 05:00pm - Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work 11:00am - 07:00pm during peak event season. 

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our Birmingham office (B37 7YE).

At the BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average.   At the moment, the team typically go into the office once a week on a Wednesday. The use of our office spaces is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.

About the Role

This role is an exciting opportunity to work for Mind BLMK as part of the Fundraising & Engagement Team.

Acting as the first point of contact for all Fundraising & Comms enquiries and in line with Mind BLMK’s Fundraising and Communications Strategy, this is a busy role and will require excellent stewardship and donor care skills as well as meticulous organisation and innovative thinking. As an Ambassador for Mind BLMK, you will need to have a passion for mental health and an ability to operate at all levels.

The successful applicant will generate income and support all aspects of communication and marketing, to help to maximise local support, raise awareness of our work in the community, and by providing exceptional supporter stewardship, in line with Mind BLMK’s Fundraising and Communication strategy.

Key Duties

• Act as the first point of contact for all fundraising enquiries and provide stewardship and donor care for Mind BLMK’s individual givers, corporates, groups, volunteers and other supporters of the charity, in line with the fundraising strategy.
• Act as first point of contact for all marketing, PR and event enquiries.
• Send donors bespoke information and materials to support their fundraising at Mind BLMK.
• Ensure supporter interaction points (telephone, post, email) adhere to the highest standard.
• Support existing and develop new partnerships with corporates, organisations, and individuals, to support income growth.
• Develop and maintain relationships with philanthropists and encourage legacy giving.
• Help with the co-ordination of fundraising volunteers, as requested or as appropriate.
• Help to identify and develop potential areas of fundraising growth and process improvements, in line with the Fundraising Strategy and supporting net income growth.
• Write and send outgoing thank you letters to all income streams.
• Help maintain an up-to-date and accurate supporter database, finance log and fundraising and communications materials.
• Support the implementation of marketing strategies and targeted campaigns; plan, develop, and ensure the production of multi-media communications, PR, and marketing materials and compelling stories.
• Work closely with external organisations in order to raise awareness of services available locally and increase access to provision for individuals across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.
