We are partnering with a respected international non-profit organisation undergoing a significant period of organisational transformation. This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Director of Finance to join on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract, with a genuine possibility of transitioning into a permanent role for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will lead the finance function through a critical period of change, ensuring robust financial management, strong governance, and effective operational leadership across a global organisation.

The Role

Reporting into the Executive Leadership Team, you will take ownership of the finance function, providing both hands-on operational support and strategic financial leadership.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the planning, delivery and implementation of the global operating budget.
  • Strengthening budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and financial reporting processes.
  • Producing and presenting management accounts, forecasts and financial analysis to senior leadership, Board members and governance committees.
  • Leading the month-end close process and improving reporting timelines.
  • Overseeing balance sheet reconciliations, cashflow reporting and financial controls.
  • Supporting finance systems improvements and implementation projects.
  • Providing financial modelling and scenario planning to support organisational change initiatives.
  • Leading grant finance activity, including donor compliance, cost allocation and financial business partnering.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory and taxation requirements across multiple international jurisdictions.
  • Managing audits and maintaining a strong internal control environment.
  • Leading and developing a geographically dispersed finance team.

About You

We're looking for a qualified finance professional who combines technical excellence with strong leadership capability.

You will have:

  • Full professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Significant senior finance leadership experience within an international and multi-funded organisation.
  • Strong experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.
  • Proven track record of improving financial controls, systems and processes.
  • Experience leading finance teams through periods of transition and organisational change.
  • Knowledge of grant-funded environments and donor compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing audits and statutory reporting obligations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders and Board-level audiences.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, particularly across global or geographically dispersed teams.

Why Apply?

  • Strategic leadership opportunity with significant visibility and impact.
  • Join an organisation at a pivotal stage of its development and transformation.
  • Hybrid working environment with flexibility.
