Herts Young Homeless is an independent charity and has been supporting vulnerable people in Hertfordshire since 1998. We are professional, passionate, collaborative and supportive charity that provides guidance to everyone who is in need of support.

Herts Young Homeless (hyh) are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic youth engagement worker to join our charity. hyh's strategic aim is to 'Be More Youth Led' and this role is crucial in supporting that commitment. The right candidate will be fun, open-minded, tech savvy and enjoy working using their own initiative. They will be passionate about youth engagement and motivated to translate youth ideas into actionable plans for the charity.

This role will facilitate a variety of fun and meaningful engagement opportunities for young people to have a voice on decisions that affect them. The successful candidate will create open, safe and inclusive spaces for young people, to enable them to form and express their voice on issues that are important to them and to hyh. The youth engagement worker will have the opportunity to inform, develop and grow our youth engagement offer; if successful this may lead to professional development opportunities such as line management of volunteers and staff.

What can you bring to the team?

• Candidates Must have a full clean driving license and use of own vehicle for business purposes
• Co-facilitate annual ‘Youth Summits’; consulting young people from across the county on issues related to the charity/youth homelessness.
• Launch and facilitate a youth advisory board (online and in person). Act as an advocate to deliver key youth board messages to our leadership team and board.
• Co-ordinate work experience and apprenticeship opportunities for young people.
• Organise and co-facilitate social events for our young people.
• Support our young housemates in completing ASDAN qualifications.
• Support the content of our digital communication to young people.
• Complete relevant data to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of youth engagement work.
• Ensure youth engagement and coproduction is considered at all levels of the organisation to ensure decision making is youth informed where appropriate.
• Develop new an innovative ways of involving hyh services users in shaping our services and coproducing our work.
• Ensure good ‘youth voice’ communication across all hyh services, providing updates at service team meetings.
• Co-ordinate young people’s involvement in staff recruitment, training and induction
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with external organisations and professionals.

Job Purpose:

• Contribute to hyh’s overall Fundraising strategy as a member of the Fundraising Team
• Have day to day responsibility for the Individual Giving income stream
• Manage a portfolio of existing Individual Giving supporters, providing exceptional supporter care and building relationships, stewarding and nurturing existing donors.
• Improve supporter retention and maximise donors’ lifetime value to hyh
• Manage, develop and lead on the use of hyh’s CRM effectively to segment data and make insight-led decisions. This includes developing new reports, liaising with the external CRM consultant to make improvements, writing up procedures and training members of the team in best practice.
• Acquire and develop new donors through solicitation and stewardship plans using a supporter journey programme to build engagement and loyalty.
• Develop marketing and comms materials through digital and other channels to deliver the programme.
• Maximise all opportunities to develop regular giving, appeals, one-off occasion donations, in-mem and legacy

Rethink Mental Illness are seeking a part-time Head of Strategic Partnerships and Alliances, to deliver strong collaborative operational leadership to the evolving VCFSE alliance programme in the London borough of Tower Hamlets.

 

Background

In 2019 NHS England set out a bold and radical redesign of community mental health services through the publication of the community mental health framework for adults and older adults. In response, Rethink Mental Illness published Communities that Care: a blueprint for supporting people severely affected by mental illness in their communities.

We believe that to really transform previously broken and fragmented systems of mental health support, communities and organisations must come together in the spirit of collaboration.

This cannot be delivered by any one organisation on their own. Supporting local systems to work more effectively together through partnerships and alliances is a key component of our five-year strategy.

The work of our Strategic Partnerships & Alliances Division is critical in achieving this objective.  The division includes the local teams providing alliance leadership, participation, delivery and infrastructure support. We bring together expertise from across the charity - on co-production, community engagement, alliance building, infrastructure and corporate resources.

This specialist support interfaces with place-based partnership and alliance teams who are working with local VCFSE groups, charities, community organisations, citizens, NHS and social care, in places around England to transform community mental health services and build communities that care around people affected by mental illness.

Tower Hamlets VCFSE Alliance - the journey so far…..

For the past three years the development of a mental health VCFSE alliance in Tower Hamlets has been enabled by a grant Rethink Mental Illness received from the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).

This grant enabled Rethink to focus on supporting alliance development in four places in England, including Tower Hamlets.  The Alliance has now secured funding from East London NHS Foundation Trust to further develop the alliance structure and infrastructure, to enable the alliance to thrive and to move into the next phase of development and delivery, with a focus on:

About the role:

As Head of Strategic Partnerships and Alliances you will work with leaders across the partner organisations of the Tower Hamlets Mental Health Alliance to enable the realisation of the Alliance’s objectives across all these areas.

You will provide a facilitation and coordination function to the alliance, including elements of quality assurance & compliance, commissioner interface and relationships, reporting and due diligence. You will maintain and develop purposeful and managed partner relationships across all existing Alliance members and nurture growth and inclusion of other VCSE organisations across Tower Hamlets.

About you:

You will have a strong experience and background in contract management, project mobilisation across complex workstreams and compliance.  With proven experience in managing and maintaining strong working partner relationships in a complex and nuanced VCFSE environment is essential, including:

• Understanding of the ambitions of the NHS community mental health frameworw
• Knowledge and understanding of Tower Hamlets Mental Health sector and VCFSE sector
• A commitment to listen and to build relationships across difference

Working arrangements:

This is a part-time role for 23 hours per week (worked between 09:00 and 17:00 Monday to Friday).  The post holder will work flexibly as required by the needs of the alliance projects. 

The base salary is £45,284 (pro rata) – actual salary for 23 hours is £29,758.06 per annum.

For post holders living or based in Greater London, £3,000 (pro rata) per annum London Allowance applies.  Actual amount for 23 hours per week is £1,971.43 per annum.

The role is home-based with access to our Head office hub in Vauxhall for the purpose of internal meetings, collaboration, or occasional hot desking.

The post holder will frequently attend meetings within the borough of Tower Hamlets.

Selection process and timescales

FareShare South West distributes surplus food across the region to charities working with vulnerable people.  We need volunteers to do everything from driving vans to picking orders in the warehouses, and lots in between.

This role leads on rota and data management, working with warehouse managers and reporting to the Volunteer Recruitmant Manager in Bristol, with occasional travel.  Recruitment and retention support, and identifying individuals who would benefit from our flagship employability programme FareChance to help their personal and professional development is an important element, as well as working with the wider team to develop volunteering opportunities for corporate supporters and food partners.

Leading on volunteer wellbeing and support during the shift is key to the role, as well as undertaking training to keep abreast of best practice

Volunteers make up about 90% of our workforce, and this role takes the lead on recruitment, retention and development of our Volunteer Programme, including delivering a Recruitment Strategy, developing a Retention Work Plan and ensuring all safeguarding policies are adhered to.

Reporting to the Head of Employment, Volunteering and Safeguarding, the role supports a wide range of volunteers, and that includes sign-posting them to FSSW employability programmes, modelled on our flagship employability programme FareChance.

This role is responsible for the line management of a Volunteer Coordinator, also based in Bristol, to achieve a steady flow of volunteers to keep FSSW working to deliver surplus food to charities working with vulnerable people.

They will play a leading role in delivering our learning and inclusion work, developing audiences, existing and new, and oversee all The Africa Centre programme activity across the UK, on the African continent and in the wider African Diaspora.

As part of the Senior Leadership team, they will play an important part in driving the vision, mission, and values of The Africa Centre as a world-leading organisation at the forefront of debate, dialogue, and social purpose around our five core pillars of arts & culture, education, community development, entrepreneurship & innovation and thought leadership. Through innovative programme development, they will ensure that the urgent issues faced by people of African descent are reflected and addressed in The Africa Centre’s activity profile. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Strategic Leadership

• Oversee, convene and deliver TAC programmes, developing live and digital content in line with our strategic priorities.
• Fulfil the leadership role of contributing to the development of The Africa Centre’s emerging strategy.
• Lead and convene programme development and content delivery, ensuring commercial, artistic, operational and audience development objectives are met for both live and digital events.

• Draw on the expertise within the team, their networks and creative content, convening an holistic programme in line with TAC’s strategic priorities, income generation priorities and brand.
• Develop and implement TAC’s Elimu Education Programme, fostering relevant relationships with educational institutes from primary to tertiary levels across the UK and beyond, and co-creating programmes of activity.
• Oversee the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of any contracted work that delivers programmes of activities in the UK and abroad,

• Maintain existing and develop new audiences, identifying programme strands that respond to and anticipate the needs and interests of diverse communities, introducing new ideas, innovative content and inclusive talent pathways.
• Seek out, develop, and sustain networks, stakeholders and partnerships at local, regional and global levels, and explore new ways for the charity to grow and develop at the cutting edge of global ideas
• Identify opportunities to develop The Africa Centre events across the UK and digitally, to reach wider audiences and deepen brand recognition across the year.
• Identify project funding to develop audiences, increase diversity and meet equalities objectives.
• Oversee learning and engagement programmes in the UK.
• Deliver and build upon current UK funded projects and contribute to developing funding bids.
• Oversee the management of TAC’s marketing and communications functions, including our public relations, website and social media accounts, ensuring that they are updated, relevant and archived appropriately.

Impact

• Lead on development and delivery of the organisation’s strategic Monitoring, Evaluation and Impact framework and associated plans and systems
• Develop and delivering TAC’s social purpose agenda, ensuring alignment with our strategic objectives.

Operational

• Line manage the programme, education and engagement team(s), recruiting, as necessary, skilled persons to deliver TAC programmes.

Governance & Compliance

• Write reports for the board as and when required by the CEO in a timely and appropriate manner
• Work with the Director of Finance & Ops to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the charity in delegated budget area(s), adhere to TAC Financial Regulations and Procurement Policy.
• Ensure that all artist contracting is undertaken within TAC procurements and contracting policies observing all other required policies and statutory guidelines e.g., Equalities, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Intellectual Property, GDPR, Finance and Procurements etc.
• Maintain accurate records on The Africa Centre’s document management system and databases.

Leadership

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

• A clearly-evidenced long-standing passion for Africa and people of African Descent
• 3 - 5 years working at a senior level in a similar role
• Excellent Programme Management experience with excellent budget management skills
• Excellent communication and networking skills, adept at effectively engaging people across a range of settings – from school children to Prime Ministers and Presidents;
• Educated to degree level of equivalent (relevant subject area)

Work Arrangements

Location: The Africa Centre office, London. Occasional remote working is encouraged. The post-holder will be required to be on location in London for relevant activities. Some international travel will be required.

As Head of Finance, this role is responsible for ensuring the effective management of BAT's internal financial systems and processes. Working alongside the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, this role will provide the organisation with accurate, transactional and cash management that will enable effective decision making and planning.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Strategy Lead to work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to deliver an ambitious, new, forward-thinking strategy for a charity that builds a better future for disabled people. With data and insights collected, the organisation know the questions that need answering to ensure an effective strategy for the next 5 years. The strategy has ten broad strategy workstreams, which include their approaches to grant-making, innovation, partnerships, finances, and equity, diversity and inclusion. They will aim to answer their big questions and develop their new strategy through three sprint processes between August and December, and conclude the programme of work in April 2025.

The role;

• Programme manage an agile strategy process with ten defined workstreams in a flexible and pragmatic way. (June – March) 
• Design and run three sprints which enable workstream leads to progressively refine strategic assumptions, gather and reflect on key insights from disabled people and other stakeholders, and develop objectives for the coming strategy period. (July – December)
• Work with the Director of Performance and Innovation and colleagues to consolidate these workstreams into a forward strategy
• Work with the communications team to establish and deliver an engagement and communications plan for the new strategy.

This includes securing target levels of media coverage and building and maintaining contacts with Welsh and English language journalists across national, local and trade media in Wales. Raising Mind Cymru's profile, promoting the work of Mind and the local Mind network in Wales and improving media portrayals and public perceptions of mental health issues.

As Senior Media and PR Officer (Wales) you will be a part of the Mind Cymru directorate and report to the Head of Communications, Marketing and Media (Wales). You will also work closely with the Mind Media and PR team, in particular the Head of News, in Mind's Social Change directorate.

You will devise and implement media strategies including press releases, celebrity engagement, photo and filming opportunities and digital content for organisational campaigning, policy and profile-raising priorities in Wales. You will also handle reactive enquires on the news desk, provide media support to our network of local Minds and shops and provide support with reputational risk issues.

-To provide an effective service to media professionals, including journalists and producers, by coordinating Mind's response to media enquiries and assisting and advising other Mind Cymru staff when handling media enquiries.

-To make sure the media team involves people with direct experience of mental health problems through identifying case studies from a full range of diverse backgrounds and that appropriate advice and support is given to people involved with Mind's media work. -To organise media interviews as required with Mind Cymru Director, other Mind Cymru spokespeople and service users, providing them with full pre- and post-interview briefings.

Key Roles and Duties

In this exciting role you will be responsible for raising unrestricted income from individuals by planning and executing the day-to-day campaigns to recruit, engage and retain supporters through a range of channels.

Strategic Planning and Implementation

Plan, lead, implement, and evaluate strategies to:

Donor Data Analysis and Segmentation

Stewardship and Donor Engagement

Manage donor stewardship to provide personalised and engaging communications, including:

Lead the charge in:

• Coming up with new ideas and initiatives to bolster individual giving.
• Managing a continuous cycle of testing for new channels and techniques for acquisition and retention, based on audience insight and sector trends.

Role Requirements

We are looking for the right person to join the team – this could be someone with experience or someone who is willing to learn and has a strong transferrable skill set.

• Effective campaign copy writing and ability to translate ideas into design briefs.
