About the role

This is a rare opportunity to shape a small, ambitious and high‑performing charity at a time of growth and increasing national influence.

As Chief Executive, you will report to and work closely with our Board of Trustees, providing strategic leadership and acting as the organisation’s senior representative. You will:

• Lead the delivery of our strategic plan and future direction
• Strengthen partnerships across the woodland, environmental, community and land‑use sectors
• Oversee programme delivery and organisational performance
• Support, motivate and develop our small and committed team of seven, working across programmes, fundraising and communications
• Represent Future Woodlands Scotland at senior levels across Scotland

You will bring strategic clarity, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to build strong, trusted relationships across sectors and with funders.

Location

This role is Scotland-based, working from home with travel across Scotland to meetings. Our current team is spread across Dumfries & Galloway, Lothian, Central Scotland and Aberdeenshire.

Contract and salary

• 8% employer pension contribution
• Permanent, part‑time (3 days per week)
• £65,000–£75,000 FTE, depending on experience
• 25 days annual leave + 10 public holidays (pro rata)
• Additional annual leave increasing with length of service, up to a maximum of 10 additional days.

• Conduct on-site assessments of repairs and report any unreported maintenance issues to the line manager.
• Specify and request materials and equipment through the line manager as needed.
• Respond to out-of-hours calls and attend services for emergency repairs when required.
• Carry out general repairs and maintenance, including tasks such as hanging doors, basic carpentry, and unblocking drainage.

About the role

The purpose of the Volunteer Support & Systems Manager is to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Volunteer Support function by ensuring that automated workflows are well maintained and continuously improved. This includes the onboarding process for new volunteers, management of mandatory training requirements of existing volunteers and volunteer record management through processing promotions transfers and leavers. You will provide strategic and operational leadership across finance and procurement, ensuring robust financial governance and delivering high-quality insight to support organisational decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead SIG’s financial strategy, planning, and operational delivery to drive organisational growth and sustainability.
• Advise the CEO, Board, and senior leaders on strategic financial decisions, presenting complex information in an accessible way.
• Lead financial transformation and improvement initiatives, optimising systems and infrastructure.
• Provide oversight of budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, and risk management.
• Lead the Finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation and continuous learning.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and charity finance requirements, upholding the highest standards of governance and stewardship of public funds.
• Support income generation, strategic partnerships, and long-term financial planning.
• Maintain and review risk registers, business continuity plans, and organisational performance frameworks.

Candidate Requirements

We are seeking a highly capable, strategic, and commercially aware finance professional with:

• Professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with full membership of a recognised body.
• Significant senior financial leadership experience in the charity or not-for-profit sector.
• Proven experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Experience of leading financial transformation and change programmes.
• Experience presenting complex financial information to Boards and non-financial stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of charity finance regulations, SORP, governance, and compliance.
• Exceptional analytical, project management, and strategic planning skills.
• Ability to lead, influence, and inspire cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
• Commitment to SIG’s values, trauma-informed approach, and inclusive leadership.

Desirable:

• Relevant postgraduate qualification in finance, leadership, or management.

• Experience of overseeing IT.

• Experience in income generation, business development, or securing external funding.

About Citadel and your role 

Citadel is a volunteer-powered homelessness prevention project supporting people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness to settle into a home, sustain their tenancy, and feel part of a supportive community.

We are seeking a Finance Officer with excellent numerical skills and attention to detail, and good inter-personal skills to join our friendly Finance Team at Yeldall Manor. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for helping others to join a Christian organisation dedicated to supporting men in their journey of recovery from addiction to drugs or alcohol.

As Finance Officer, you will support and deputise for the Finance Manager in all aspects of the finance role including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, bank and cash reconciliation and the processing of donations (please see the Job Description for more details). You will also support our residents in the management of their money and benefits and accompany them to relevant appointments. A driver’s licence is essential for this role.

You will have relevant accounting/bookkeeping qualifications e.g. AAT Technician Level and have experience of financial management, ideally in the not-for-profit sector. You will be a quick learner, able to manage multiple priorities and enjoy working as part of a small team that has a real impact upon people’s lives.

Yeldall Manor is a Christian organisation, and this role requires a committed Christian faith to meet the occupational requirements (in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010). We ask all staff to engage with and support our residents in their recovery journey, offering encouragement in both practical and spiritual matters.

This is a full-time, permanent position (40 hours per week) although 32 hours would be considered for the right person. You will work as part of a small, friendly team within the Finance & Fund-Raising office, located in a beautiful rural setting outside Reading. Free lunch is provided daily with staff and residents. Remote working is not applicable for this post.
