We’re surrounded by junk food. From the moment we're born, every second of every day, children are being targeted. Giant companies manipulate them with colourful, cuddly, clever marketing, deceive them with packaging claims and pump products at them that are full of junk. It's become the cultural wallpaper. Now, it risks endangering the health of a generation.
In the UK, nearly a third of children aged 2-15 face a higher risk of food-related ill health in their futures. The good news is, it's preventable. And we're biting back.
Bite Back is a youth activist movement challenging a food system that's been set up to fool us all by:
1) Calling out the manipulation of the junk food giants.
2) Demanding higher standards from food marketing and from everyday food itself.
3) Mobilising and equipping young people in the fight for better food.
We do all this so we can bite back against a global epidemic of food-related ill health.
About Bite Back in Schools
Bite Back has delivered our youth social action programme — Bite Back in Schools— to over 120 schools over the last two years. Working with secondary schools, we have supported over 2,000 11-14 year olds to plan and deliver social action projects to prioritise child health by improving their school food. This could be by making nutritious and sustainable food the norm by increasing the flow of healthy options in their canteens, or by redesigning the school food experience to put healthy options in the spotlight.
With funding awarded from the #iWill Fund, we are recruiting a brilliant cohort of schools who will join the programme in September 2024. Our programme model combines an assembly delivered by a Bite Back young ambassador, five hours of curriculum time sessions for a whole year group, and our ever-popular and impactful School Food Champions (SFC) extra-curricular club. Role Description
The Programmes Manager plays a key role supporting our community of schools during their time on the programme. They will support the design and lead on the delivery of Bite Back in Schools to ensure the best possible user experience for young people, their teachers and their schools, and to ensure the programme makes the greatest possible impact.
The Programmes Manager will report to the Head of Programmes, and will work closely with colleagues across Bite Back, in particular with our comms, digital, youth and policy teams, working within our Strategy and Delivery Function.
Key responsibilities include:
Relationship management
-
Provide ongoing support to schools throughout their time on the programme, building strong working relationships with participating schools.

Lead communication with all schools, being the first point of contact for the coordinator and lead teacher in each school.

Support monitoring and evaluation through creation of surveys, ensuring completion of baseline and end of year surveys, and analysis of data submitted (in partnership with our external evaluators).

Book and arrange assemblies, coordinating between schools and our Bite Back Ambassadors.
Community management

Celebrate and share examples of best practice and impactful social action projects amongst our community of schools.

Design and deliver training and webinars for schools.

Lead on the design and delivery of competitions for schools.

Schedule and organise visits to schools, agreeing agendas with the schools in advance to include elements including meeting pupils and teachers, leading feedback sessions and focus groups and supporting the development of their social action campaigns.

Drafting of termly newsletters and regular emails to schools.

Create case studies and collate material to share with our comms and digital teams.

Encourage teachers and pupils to use the new Bite Back digital platform to share their stories and projects, and take part in broader Bite Back campaigns.

Grow our movement - supporting the recruitment of future cohorts by promoting the Bite Back in Schools programme, distributing recruitment comms, holding set up calls with interested schools, and guiding schools through the application and enrolment process, working closely with the Head of Programmes on the design of these processes.
Project management of systems and operational support

Manage the SFC inbox, dealing with enquiries from schools and other partners.

Process invoices related to the programme, liaising between schools and the Bite Back accounts team, and monitoring the monthly total payments made to schools.

Manage the budget for specific areas of programme expenditure, such as merchandise and Ambassador training.

Creating and uploading new high quality session plans, resources and materials to our digital platform as required.

Design and maintain reporting systems to monitor levels of engagement of individual schools, flagging concerns and proactively finding ways to mitigate issues to ensure schools remain on the programme.

Management of programmes section of Bite Back CRM system, keeping data up to date and accurate, and developing reports to share programme data with team and funders.
Programme design and improvement

Identifying opportunities to optimise the potential of our programmes and proactively making suggestions for continuous improvement to our user experience, programme design and systems.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Programme Management
- Coordinate staff and implementing partners to ensure the timely completion of deliverables.
- Quality assure the application of THET’s grant management processes by other team members.
- Ensure compliance with donor/country agreements, regulations and requirements.
- Identify, track and manage programmatic risk.
- Ensure effective communication with partners, donors and other stakeholders.
- Oversee project budgets, including monitoring spend against budget, undertaking re-forecasting, and authorising spend.
- Oversee the quarterly reporting process to donors.

Programme quality and design

Team Support and Line Management
- Line manage members of the Programmes Team (1-2 Programmes Coordinators).

- Lead the induction process for new Programmes Team members and other THET staff when required.
- Work with colleagues from across the team to identify areas for improvement and strengthening.
Miscellaneous
- Attend and present THET’s work at UK and international events, including the THET annual conference.

Role Description
As Volunteer Programmes Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the successful delivery of projects in the Decorate A Child's Life (DACL) and Adventure Play Partnership (APP) volunteering programmes. Betknowmore UK is collaborating with partner organisations to work as part of a wider team, on the delivery of the Armed Forces Gambling Harms Support Network (AFGHSN). The work will include the provision of training and gambling awareness activities, helping to raise and address the subject of harmful gambling. Working and engaging with armed forces support and personnel services, individuals harmed by gambling, their wider network, stakeholders, and other relevant groups within the veteran and active armed forces communities, the aim is to create trained personnel able to support the work of the AFGHSN.
A key aspect of the role will be working with individuals experiencing gambling harms, requiring an empathetic and compassionate approach and awareness of the complex issues being addressed. A robust management of safeguarding and safe working practices is essential.
It is essential that you are based within one hour travelling time of London, as extensive travel to London and the UK is expected.
Role Purpose
An armed forces veteran or someone closely involved with the armed forces (a family member for example), the post holder will also have a unique insight on gambling harms, and their impact on health and wellbeing specifically within the military.
The Armed Forces Peer Aid Coordinator will initially prioritise engaging with veterans and military organisations to deliver the AFGHSN training programme, along with gambling awareness activities. The purpose is to upskill key armed forces personnel and those in connected communities, enabling and enhancing their knowledge, skills and confidence to address gambling harms.
The second key responsibility is to recruit, train and support Peer Supporters to deliver safe, effective support for individuals and their networks that have been harmed by gambling. It is expected that Peer Supporters will be individuals with ‘lived experience’ of gambling harm themselves or as an ‘affected other’.
The post holder will work with the Head of Peer Support Services to support the development and maintenance of the systems and structure of the service, ensuring that governance and polices are implemented, safeguarding and safe working practices are strictly adhered to, and a clear understanding established of how the service integrates with other support and treatment networks.
The AFGHSN Peer Aid team will ensure that the support and working relationships are safe and secure, and the health and wellbeing of all participants is intact. Peer Support will be in a befriending capacity and should be provided with a considered and transparent approach. Other support activities will be developed, such as group support and weekly meet ups.
Stakeholder management is essential to the role, as is establishing and maintaining relationships within the AFGHSN, alongside confident communication skills to deliver presentations and other promotions within armed forces community, education and health centres to help grow and evolve the service.

We are embarking on an ambitious new direction at Habitat GB; leveraging our global housing expertise and the learning from our flagship national programme “Empty Spaces to Homes” to work collaboratively with Habitat colleagues across Europe in effecting change at a policy level.
“Empty Spaces to Homes” is a ground-breaking initiative focused on a circular buildings approach that already has a feasible proof of concept from piloting, with strong upscaling potential. The premise is simple; unlocking the potential of long term empty commercial spaces to create affordable housing for vulnerable people. As well as the social benefits of adding to affordable housing stock, the Empty Spaces to Homes approach of retrofitting existing structures – at a much lower carbon cost - offers a greener and more sustainable way to meet the housing gap, in comparison to the environmental impact of the new build construction industry. Breaking down long-standing barriers to resource-efficient renovation is essential if the UK is to play its part in meeting ambitious global decarbonisation targets.
Purpose of The role
The UK Housing Advocacy Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission by leading advocacy efforts, shaping policies, and promoting sustainable housing solutions for affordable housing in Great Britain, particularly through our groundbreaking initiative "Empty Spaces to Homes."
As this is a new role, and is being recruited alongside the Head of Global Affairs and Advocacy, key responsibilities will include the establishment of a new function at Habitat GB. It involves working closely with colleagues across the Habitat GB organisation and contributing to advocacy efforts across the Habitat network at global and regional levels through engagement, strategy and shared learning. Main Responsibilities
1) Research and Analysis:

Role Purpose
The Community Engagement Manager (Maternity Cover) role will be a critical piece of our Community Programmes team, which provides support to founders at every stage of their startup journey. The Community Programme offering includes a roster of events including panels, masterclasses and workshops, as well as mentoring and coaching opportunities, and peer-to-peer engagement opportunities. The role
The roles has four main areas of work:
1. Leadership and management:
- Lead the Roots to Wellbeing team to reach its goals.

TPP are recruiting an EQA Manager on behalf of our client, a highly respected awarding organisation dedicated to ensuring the safe and fair awarding of qualifications.
The Role:
As the EQA Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing external quality assurance processes and procedures, maintaining high standards and compliance with regulatory and awarding organisation requirements.
Main responsibilities:
- Manage all EQAs, including performance management processes.
- Lead recruitment efforts and ensuring appropriate training for EQAs.
- Ensure the smooth implementation of EQA processes and procedures to uphold regulatory compliance.
- Deliver annual budget reports to the Head of Access and Compliance, providing detailed forecasting and recommendations.
- Develop and execute annual training and development plans for centres, EQAs, and internal colleagues.
- Create centre-based training materials and handbooks.
- Supervise standardisation activities and materials for EQAs, both internally and externally.
- Offer recommendations to the Head of Access and Compliance regarding external quality assurance and ongoing improvement efforts.
- Assist the broader organisation in readiness for inspections, audits, and self-assessments.
- Coordinate and ensure EQAs allocation to carry out monitoring in line for CASS strategy.
Requirements:
- Project and line management experience.
- Knowledge of current education legislation.
- Knowledge of awarding body and regulatory structures.
- Experience in external quality assurance processes and report writing.
- Understanding of post-16 education and lifelong learning.
- Excellent organisational skills, diligence and integrity.
- Experience of networking with key stakeholders.
Additional information:
- Travel will be required in this role between the group's offices and nationally.
