Job description

About us

Redbridge Rainbow Community supports, connects and advocates for LGBTQ+ people who live, work, study and socialise in the London Borough of Redbridge. Our diverse and accessible activities and events welcome, connect and support LGBTQ+ people, allies and our wider communities.

About the role

Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, we are recruiting an Events and Engagement Worker to deliver our exciting programme of activities for LGBTQ+ people in Redbridge. This role is central to our work supporting and engaging LGBTQ+ people who live, work, study or socialise in the London Borough of Redbridge. The role combines community engagement, delivery of activities and events, communications and collaborating with partners and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Organise regular activities for community members including monthly creative meet-ups, quarterly excursions within Redbridge and beyond and a series of shared meals for specific groups from the LGBTQ+ community (e.g. trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people, older people, disabled people, neurodiverse people, asylum seekers and refugees)
  • Co-organise events to ‘celebrate the rainbow in Redbridge’ including annual Redbridge Pride events
  • Consider all aspects of organising events and activities, including publicity, venue, catering, access needs and risk management
  • Collaborate effectively with volunteers, contractors and partners to deliver activities
  • Create clear, accessible content that promotes events and activities through our newsletter, website, social media, events and community engagement
  • Engage and communicate with local stakeholders, services and organisations
  • Track participation and impact and input into organisational records, monitoring, reporting, governance, fundraising and strategy
  • Process personal data in compliance with GDPR regulations
  • Adopt and embed an intersectional approach to the design and delivery of all activities to ensure representation and inclusion of all our LGBTQ+ community
  • Prepare for and attend regular supervision sessions
  • Perform other duties as may be reasonably required

How to apply

Please submit a two-page CV and two-page cover letter (both in either Word or pdf) setting out how you meet the personal specification as set out in the Candidate Information Pack and your reasons for applying for the role by 5pm on Wednesday 11 November 2026 with the email subject heading ‘Events and Engagement Worker’.
